Chapter 108 Frederick, in Fact, Amelia's Child Is...

For some reason, over the past two years, Frederick was dead set against remarrying Amelia.

Although Frederick and Amelia had recently divorced, it seemed like Frederick had a slight liking for Amelia. Brittany felt even more disconnected from her grandson, whom she had raised herself.

However, she didn't want to go against Frederick's attitude and the agreement with Amelia by revealing the child to him. If Frederick, who wasn't interested in Amelia, found out about their child, he might take the child and leave the mother using his tactics.

Brittany grew frustrated and muttered to herself, "Give him a call and ask if he's coming back tonight. If not, forget about it!"

With that, she turned and went back into the house.

Upon hearing Brittany's words, Tom immediately called Frederick. In a black car parked not far from Hastings Manor, Frederick's phone lit up. Sitting in the back seat, he closed his eyes and collected his thoughts.

Felix, sitting in the driver's seat, heard the vibration of Frederick's phone and quietly said to him, "Mr. Hastings, you have an incoming call."

Frederick opened his eyes and glanced at his phone expressionlessly. Seeing that it was Tom calling, he didn't answer.

When the Davis family's car left Hastings Manor, they could clearly see everything from their end. Felix cautiously observed Frederick's expression. He couldn't help but feel like Frederick was intentionally avoiding Amelia. If Frederick truly didn't care, why would he be afraid to meet with her?

Felix moved to speak to Frederick, but before he could say anything, Frederick had already opened the car door and walked toward the old manor. Frederick had consumed quite a bit of alcohol tonight, so his steps were a little unsteady.

Just as he reached the entrance of Hastings Manor, the security personnel spotted him. Felix sighed in the car and waited until Frederick returned inside before starting the car and leaving.

In the following days, Frederick's schedule was filled with networking appointments.

Amelia had successfully completed the enrollment process and was now working at General Hospital.

The emergency department was currently in need of doctors, so Amelia had just started her job when she was called over by the head of the emergency department.

Nicole, although displeased, had no choice but to agree.

Amelia was familiar with many doctors in the emergency department, so everything went smoothly with her new job.

Some of the medical students that Amelia had previously mentored had also started working at General Hospital. After Amelia joined, during the morning meeting, Dr. Walker briefly welcomed her back and then everyone got busy with their own tasks.

The emergency department was unusually busy, but Amelia quickly adapted to it.

After work, Dr. Walker suggested that the doctors in the department get together.

However, some doctors always had to be on duty at the hospital, so there would always be a few missing from the emergency department gatherings. Everyone was used to this.

After dinner, Amelia returned to the Davis family. Daniel saw that Amelia had started her job, and there were some problems with the Vanderbilt family business in Fondaniss, so Daniel went back there.

Anna was taken care of by Susan and Vincent.

When Amelia got home, Anna was already asleep. She entered the bedroom and saw Anna lying in bed, looking so peaceful. All the tiredness from the day disappeared.

After freshening up in the bathroom, she lay in bed, facing Anna. Anna seemed to sense some movement and opened her eyes. When she saw it was Amelia, she reached out and hugged Amelia's arm.

"Mommy."

Amelia reached out and held her in her arms, her eyes full of joy.

Meanwhile, at Hastings Manor, Frederick had just returned from a networking dinner.

Brittany sat on the couch with a somber face. "Why have you been drinking every day lately?"

For the past three years, Frederick had been working day and night. Sometimes he would get so busy that he would forget to eat. In just three years, he developed stomach problems and frequently experienced pain.

This morning, Mary found an empty bottle of stomach medication in the trash bin while cleaning. Otherwise, no one would have known that Frederick had been taking medication all this time.

Frederick drank relatively little tonight. His stomach felt uncomfortable last night, so he restrained himself tonight.

He looked at Brittany's pale face and walked over, sinking into the couch as he sat down. Tom immediately poured him a glass of water.

Frederick took the glass, placing it back on the table after taking a sip. "Don't worry, I know my limits."

Brittany gave a cold snort and looked at Frederick with displeasure, speaking harshly, "I'm not sure where you're getting your confidence from."

Brittany coldly placed her phone on the table, and the photo on it was from the event he had been at just that evening, with Amber present and sitting next to Frederick. "You and Amber, are you in contact again?"

Frederick glanced briefly at the photo. This dinner was arranged by Scott, who brought Amber. It had nothing to do with him. Throughout the entire dinner, he hadn't even spoken a word to Amber, so how could it be considered contact?

He rubbed his temples and replied, "No."

With a cold face, Brittany looked at Frederick with displeasure. "Then why were you all eating together at the same table?"

Frederick didn't answer.

Brittany sighed, "Amelia has already returned, she..."

Her words were interrupted by Frederick. "Are there no other women in this world? Grandma, can we not mention her?"

Brittany was infuriated by Frederick's words, her head spinning.

She took a deep breath and looked at Frederick sternly, making a firm vow, "Fine, I will never mention her to you again!"

Frederick nodded slightly, his expression indifferent. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again. "So, you want a daughter-in-law, right? Tomorrow, I'll bring my fiancée who is ready to marry and introduce you to her. Will that satisfy you?"

Upon hearing Frederick's words, Brittany's face suddenly changed.

Frederick picked up his glass and took a sip of water, his blue eyes filled with annoyance. "Don't worry, it won't be Amber."

Brittany looked at him with a stern face, unable to utter a word for a long time. She furrowed her brow tightly and looked at Frederick. "Do you really not like Amelia?"

Frederick's eyes grew cold and gloomy. "I don't like her, and I never have."

Brittany's expression stiffened as she stared at him for a long time. Then she started her wheelchair and went back to her own bedroom.

Frederick leaned back on the couch, looking up at the ceiling with a cold and stern expression, devoid of much emotion.

Tom, seeing the situation, respectfully spoke up. "Mr. Hastings, Ms. Davis's..."

Frederick frowned and coldly interrupted, "Tom, do you want to retire early?"

His voice was deep and cold, with a thick sense of displeasure.

Tom looked at Frederick's fierce blue eyes, paused for a moment, and a trace of fear flashed across his face.

He had intended to tell Frederick about Amelia's child, but when he saw the irritation and disgust in Frederick's eyes upon hearing Amelia's name, his expression froze slightly.

Judging from Frederick's attitude, perhaps he truly didn't like Amelia.

His abnormal behavior when they first divorced was probably just due to the discomfort of suddenly having no connection to a woman he had shared a bed with for three years.

Felix wiped the sweat from his forehead. Fortunately, Tom didn't reveal the matter of Amelia's child. Otherwise, it might cause trouble for Amelia.
