Chapter 247: He Bought a House for the Woman Outside
When Amelia saw Felix bringing Rodolfo over, a flicker of surprise flashed in her eyes.
However, she quickly regained her composure.
Kasfee General Hospital had already purchased the medical equipment, and Frederick never made a losing deal.
Felix was extremely efficient when handling business. Rodolfo, being an ordinary person, was easily manipulated.
Jessica noticed the discomfort from Rodolfo, cast a heavy glance at Felix, and then said to Rodolfo. "Rodolfo, are you being threatened by this man? If so, you can tell us, and we will help you report it."
Rodolfo quickly shook his head, denying, "No, it's not that."
Sandra looked at Rodolfo with eyes full of hatred, her expression brimming with intense resentment.
Professor Brown, wiser than Jessica, immediately understood that there was a problem between Maria's parents.
Professor Brown pulled Jessica aside and said in a deep voice, "Since Sandra has decided to have Maria treated at Kasfee General Hospital, we at Tideport City Hospital are willing to let her go. You can go to the front desk to handle the transfer procedures."
After saying this, Professor Brown turned and left.
Jessica hurried to catch up. She unwillingly pursued and asked, "Daddy, why are you letting Maria leave? We clearly can..."
Professor Brown cast a cold glance at Jessica and said sternly, "Shut up."
Jessica looked unwilling but had no choice but to comply.
After they had walked some distance, Professor Brown said coldly, "The man standing next to Rodolfo just now is Frederick's assistant. If we don't let Maria leave, I'm afraid we won't be able to keep Tideport City Hospital."
Professor Brown had heard before that Frederick intended to purchase Tideport City Hospital.
If Tideport City Hospital were bought by Frederick and merged with Kasfee General Hospital, they would have no say in the hospital.
Now that Kasfee General Hospital wanted Maria as a patient, and Frederick's special assistant had personally intervened, they had no reason to refuse.
Jessica bit her lip, full of unwillingness.
It had taken a lot of effort to get such an opportunity, only for Amelia to snatch it away.
Professor Brown understood Jessica's feelings and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry. Kimberly said that the treatment team wouldn't change. When the time comes, you will go to Kasfee with them, stop your nonsense, and your name will be on the final report list. Why bother competing with Dr. Davis when you can win without any effort?""
Jessica remained silent.
She just didn't want Amelia to steal the spotlight. Once in Kasfee, it wouldn't be her territory, and Jessica would naturally have to play the role of a low-key assistant.
Just imagining everyone in Kasfee having to follow Amelia's instructions made Jessica feel a vague sense of displeasure.
Rodolfo also agreed to let Maria go to Kasfee for treatment, and Tideport City Hospital quickly processed Maria's discharge.
Kimberly instructed Amelia to back up Maria's hospital reports from Tideport City Hospital so they could track her progress once back in Kasfee.
After all, they had taken this patient from Tideport City Hospital, and the hospital would have opinions. They would not be so cooperative when the time came.
Amelia had already prepared everything in advance. She had backed up all the reports yesterday.
When she returned to the treatment team's temporary office, Jessica was sitting in front of the computer, deleting files.
Seeing Jessica's actions, Amelia remained calm and walked to her seat to sit down.
Jessica felt a bit guilty when she saw Amelia come in, but she quickly put on an indifferent face.
Jessica stopped what she was doing, looked up at Amelia, and said ironically, "I thought you're so capable that you wouldn't need these files. They are taking up a lot of space on my computer, so I'm deleting them. Do you need them? If so, there's still a part I haven't deleted yet. I can send them to you."
Amelia smiled faintly and shook her head gently. "I don't need them now."
She had already backed them up.
Seeing Amelia so confident, Jessica gritted her teeth in secret and spent the entire afternoon deleting files. If the treatment team needed the files later, Jessica could shift the blame onto Amelia.
After all, Jessica asked Amelia if she needed them. It was Amelia who said she didn't.
After handling some follow-up issues, Amelia booked a flight back to Kasfee for the next morning.
Kimberly, worried about any unforeseen changes, chose to stay in the on-call dormitory at Tideport City Hospital.
Despite Amelia's persuasion, she refused to leave, asking Amelia to bring her luggage over the next day. Besides, only Kimberly could handle those old professors.
Seeing her insistence, Amelia had no choice but to return to the hotel first. As soon as Amelia got to the hotel and packed all her luggage, she went to a nearby mall to buy some gifts for Anna.
While Amelia was picking out gifts for Anna, Patricia hurriedly pulled her friend over, her face full of joy.
Patricia greeted warmly, "Ms. Davis."
Patricia had tried to meet with Amelia several times over the past two days. Still, Amelia had declined, citing work as the reason.
Moreover, with Billy traveling abroad, Patricia found it challenging to bring together Amelia and Billy.
Now that she saw Amelia, she wanted to bring her friend over for a chat and proudly introduced Amelia to her friend.
This was her chosen future wife for her son. Although it was still up in the air, Patricia had already made up her mind.
She introduced Amelia to her friend, "This is Amelia from Kasfee, the one I mentioned to you last time."
Patricia's friend looked Amelia up and down, then smiled and greeted her. "Ms. Davis is indeed elegant and beautiful. No wonder Patricia often mentions you to me."
Amelia smiled politely, feeling a bit uneasy inside.
Patricia linked her arm with Amelia's, first introducing her friend, then asking Amelia. "Ms. Davis, are you picking out toys for a child? A friend's child? Boy or girl?"
Amelia pressed her lips together and answered, "I'm going back to Kasfee tomorrow, so I'm here picking out some gifts for my daughter."
Patricia froze her expression, exclaiming, "Your daughter?"
Amelia nodded lightly. "Yes."
Patricia felt her mind go blank, and she didn't know how to react for a moment. She even withdrew her arm from Amelia's, looking at her in surprise.
'When did Amelia have a daughter? How do I not know?' Patricia pondered.
Patricia took a deep breath, feeling a lump in her throat.
She questioned sharply, "You're married and even have a daughter? Why didn't you mention this before?"
Patricia's friend, seeing Patricia's loss of composure, gently tugged at her hand.
Amelia moved her lips, about to speak, but Patricia took a deep breath, not wanting to face Amelia, feeling deceived.
Patricia quickly said, "I'm Sorry, Ms. Davis. I'm not feeling well. I'll leave now. Excuse me."
With that, Patricia pulled her friend away swiftly, as if afraid Amelia would cling to her.
