Chapter 279 Finished So Quickly?

Amelia pushed open the office door and walked in. "Have a seat," she said calmly.

Frederick sat down.

Amelia poured a glass of water, set it on the table, and turned on her computer to prescribe his medication.

Frederick reached for the glass with his right hand, but as soon as he touched it, his face went pale, and a sharp pain shot through him. He quickly grabbed his wrist with his left hand to ease the pain.

Amelia jumped up and pressed on other areas of his hand to help relieve the pain.

"Be careful," she reminded him. "Once the anesthesia wears off, it'll hurt even more."

The pain subsided a bit, and Frederick sighed in relief, though sweat still dotted his forehead.

"It's okay, I can bear it," he said.

Amelia took a deep breath. She knew Frederick could handle the pain, but it was still torturous.

Seeing the pain on his face lessen, she added softly, "I'll prescribe some painkillers. During recovery, don't use your right hand. If the wound tears or gets infected, it'll be a big problem."

Frederick nodded. "Okay."

He glanced at the glass of water on the table.

Noticing his chapped lips, Amelia picked up the glass and brought it to his lips to help him drink.

As Frederick drank, Amelia couldn't help but notice his moving Adam's apple, feeling a stir in her heart before quickly looking away.

Just then, Anderson and Ralap rushed in, having heard about Frederick's injury.

"Mr. Hastings," Ralap said, stopping at the office door and seeing Amelia feeding Frederick water. His expression froze, then he noticed Frederick's bandaged hand, a look of fear flashing in his eyes.

"It was our negligence for not ensuring the hospital's security measures," he apologized.

Seeing the director and deputy director arrive, Amelia retracted the glass and placed it on the table.

Anderson entered and also apologized in a low voice.

Frederick's eyes darkened as he glanced outside the hallway. "This incident will surely cause some panic. You should be aware of the kind of patients staying at General Hospital."

Anderson immediately proposed a plan. "To prevent any incidents, Ralap and I have decided to employ professional security personnel to patrol the hospital 24/7."

Ralap, standing beside Anderson, cautiously looked at Frederick's expression. "Mr. Hastings, do you think this plan is feasible?"

Frederick nodded. "Each floor should have at least two security personnel on duty, and install scanning detectors at the entrance to prohibit sharp objects from being brought in. Also, check and address any hidden dangers in every corner of the hospital. We need to ensure that patients feel comfortable and that the medical staff is safe."

Anderson responded seriously, "Understood, Mr. Hastings. We'll arrange it right away."

As Anderson was leaving, he looked at Amelia. "Dr. Davis, I'm sorry you were frightened. If you feel unwell, I can approve some time off for you."

Amelia replied softly, "Thank you, Director. I'm fine and can continue working."

Seeing Amelia refuse to leave and Frederick not saying anything, Anderson nodded and left.

Ralap, looking relieved that Frederick wasn't angry, followed Anderson out.

Amelia returned to her seat and looked up at Frederick sitting across from her while writing a prescription.

Amelia asked, "What brought you and Felix to the hospital today?"

Frederick responded without missing a beat, "Just swinging by to pick up some meds from you."

Felix arrived at that moment, catching the tail end of their chat. In his mind, Frederick should've laid it on thick, told Amelia he missed her or something!

Amelia frowned. "What's bothering you?"

Frederick responded, "My stomach hurts. I barely slept last night; it was really uncomfortable."

Amelia frowned, got up from her seat, and walked over to him. "Lift your shirt," she said sternly.

Felix, who was about to enter Amelia's office, stopped in his tracks when he heard this and even closed the office door behind him. This wasn't something others could casually see.

Frederick obediently lifted his shirt to his chest, his blue eyes fixed on Amelia.

Amelia put on medical gloves and saw his intense gaze as if she was about to do something inappropriate to him. She admitted he had a great physique, with well-defined abs, but it wasn't like she hadn't seen or touched them before.

She bent down and pressed on Frederick's stomach.

Frederick immediately let out a muffled groan.

His groan sounded somewhat ambiguous, and Amelia looked up at him. "Does it hurt?" she asked.

Frederick looked down at Amelia and shook his head. "No, it's just that the gloves are a bit cold. You can take them off."

Amelia looked at him, remained silent for a few seconds, then took off the gloves as he suggested and pressed on his stomach again. Her fingers were still a bit cool.

As soon as she touched him, a thin layer of goosebumps appeared on his skin. Amelia only felt that Frederick's skin was very hot, making her fingers warm up as well.

She continued pressing on different areas, and Frederick didn't make any noise.

Seeing no reaction from him, Amelia looked up and asked, "Which areas felt uncomfortable when I pressed earlier?"

Frederick's expression was subtle. He hadn't been paying attention, so he didn't notice which areas were uncomfortable.

Seeing Amelia's serious expression, he replied in a deep voice, "Press again."

Amelia glanced at him and then pressed around his stomach again, this time asking with each press, "Does it hurt here?"

Frederick shook his head each time.

Amelia looked up at Frederick, then straightened up. "I'll write you a prescription for a full check-up," she said calmly.

Frederick refused. "No need. Your pressing just now relieved a lot of the discomfort. It doesn't feel as bad now."

Amelia sat back in her chair and returned to the computer to write Frederick's prescription. After writing it, she reminded him, "During this period, make sure your right hand doesn't get wet."

Frederick nodded.

After writing the prescription, Amelia got up and opened the door. "You can leave now," she said.

Felix, standing obediently at the door, paused when he saw Amelia come out. "Finished so quickly?" he asked, a bit shocked.

Amelia replied calmly, "Yes, apart from his hand, there's nothing major. Once his hand recovers, I'll give Mr. Hastings a full check-up."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Sandra walking toward her office.

Seeing Frederick and Amelia, Sandra quickened her pace and repeatedly apologized. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hastings, really sorry. Dr. Davis, I apologize for causing you trouble."

Sandra had heard from others that the person Rodolfo injured was the owner of General Hospital, and she was terrified. She was worried that Frederick would be displeased and would refuse to admit Maria.
