Chapter 362 His Deals Were Nearly Settled

"Really?" Frederick couldn't believe Amelia agreed so quickly, his deep blue eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Amelia nodded gently, "Yeah."

Frederick lit up with a smile. He leaned down to kiss Amelia's lips, looking utterly infatuated.

The hospital was bustling at this time of day, with people streaming in and out as everyone wrapped up work.

Amelia gently nudged a visibly excited Frederick, clearing her throat. "We have company coming."

Flushed with embarrassment, Amelia worried someone would spot them.

Frederick smiled, but he restrained himself, gently tucking Amelia's stray hair behind her ear. He then closed the passenger door, walked around the car, and got into the driver's seat, starting the car to head to the Davis Manor.

After Frederick's car left the underground garage, Scott, sitting in a black car in the corner, straightened up and watched the direction it left, drifting into his own thoughts.

Rachel had an early shift today.

When Amelia and Frederick returned to Davis Manor, Rachel was on the sofa reading a magazine. Seeing them enter together, she looked up and softly said to Amelia. "The brand has sent over the outfit you'll wear for tomorrow's conference. Go upstairs and try it on."

Amelia nodded in agreement, "Okay."

As she spoke, Anna ran out from the backyard. Seeing the dessert box in Amelia's hand, her eyes lit up immediately.

"Mommy, what's that?" She knew exactly what was inside but asked on purpose, clearly wanting to get Amelia's attention.

Frederick bent down to pick Anna up, coaxing her gently. "Call me Daddy, and I'll tell you what it is."

Anna, nestled in his embrace, wore a reluctant expression, tilting her head towards Rachel. "Aunt Rachel, hold me."

Frederick's heart shattered a little at her words. He watched in dismay as Anna reached for Rachel.

Rachel raised an eyebrow, put down her magazine, and took Anna into her arms. She chuckled, "Didn't you like Uncle Frederick? Why don't you like him now?"

Anna nestled in Rachel's arms, whispering, "I like Uncle Frederick, but not Daddy."

Rachel chuckled softly and looked up at Frederick.

Frederick's expression was a bit stiff, but he tried to maintain his kind and gentle persona in front of Anna, resulting in a somewhat awkward look.

Amelia caught Frederick's eye and offered a quiet reassurance. "Give Anna some time; she'll come around."

Frederick nodded at Amelia's comfort, "I know." Though he knew it would take time for Anna to accept his new role, he couldn't shake off the heaviness in his heart.

Amelia lightly bit her lips, withdrew her gaze from him, and handed the dessert to Frederick.

Frederick was puzzled but took the dessert anyway.

Anna's eyes were glued to the dessert, her expression one of pure longing.

Amelia gently rubbed her head and said softly, "Uncle Frederick bought the dessert you want. How about I let him open it for you?"

Anna nodded enthusiastically, wriggling in Rachel's arms, desperate to get down. Amused, Rachel gave her a gentle pat on the backside and chuckled. "Anna, you change your mind quicker than a flick of a switch."

Amelia joined in the laughter, nodding in agreement. Kids were always so mercurial, shifting from tears to giggles in the blink of an eye.

Once her feet touched the ground, Anna didn't waste a second. She darted over to Frederick, her little hand reaching up to grasp his thumb tightly. Frederick glanced down at Anna, feeling her small fingers wrap around his. Her innocent gesture brought a surge of warmth to his heart, dispelling some of the earlier disappointment he'd felt.

Amelia watched Frederick walk towards the dining table with Anna, her lips curling up slightly. She then softly said to Rachel. "Rachel, I'm going upstairs to try on the clothes."

Rachel nodded and said in a low voice, "If anything doesn't fit, let me know immediately, and I'll contact them to make adjustments."

"Okay." Amelia responded to Rachel while walking upstairs.

The outfit sent by the brand was the one Frederick had purchased that day. After trying it on, she found the waist a bit loose, so it was adjusted.

The adjusted size fit perfectly. As she was about to leave the dressing room, she turned and saw Frederick walking toward her.

Seeing no sign of Anna, she asked. "Where's Anna?"

Frederick replied softly, "Downstairs, Susan is taking care of her."

Amelia nodded and was about to ask Frederick how the adjusted dress looked when he walked over and hugged her.

"You look stunning," he murmured.

Frederick seemed to anticipate Amelia's question and preemptively gave her the answer.

Amelia's cheeks flushed slightly as Frederick leaned in to kiss her. But before his lips could meet hers, a deliberate cough sounded from the doorway. "This fabric wrinkles easily. Be careful," Rachel's voice cut through the moment.

Rachel had come upstairs alongside Amelia. With a social event on her agenda, she had gone to her dressing room to change. Having completed her outfit swap, she noticed Amelia still hadn't emerged. Curiosity and concern prompted her to check, leading to her stumbling upon the intimate scene.

Amelia jumped back, pushing Frederick away with a mix of embarrassment and irritation. She smoothed down her dress, checking for wrinkles, and shot Frederick a pointed glare. Frederick, on the other hand, maintained a facade of calm, though his eyes flickered with displeasure at Rachel's untimely interruption.

With an indifferent glance, Rachel turned to leave. Amelia, noticing Rachel's change of attire, called out, "Rachel, are you going out?"

Rachel nodded. "Yeah, I have a social event to attend." She cast a glance at Frederick and asked indifferently. "Aren't you going?"

Tonight was an event organized by Charles.

Frederick shook his head. "I've already wrapped up all the necessary business, so I have no engagements tonight."

Even if he did have engagements, he would have canceled them. After all, Amelia had mentioned that he needed to be ready to head to Spring Villa with her, and he intended to follow through.

"You're quick on the uptake," Rachel remarked dryly to Frederick as she headed downstairs.

With the Yaradia-Kasfee economic exchange conference just around the corner, Kasfee's various groups were busy negotiating with representatives from Yaradia to finalize business deals before the event.

For Frederick, tomorrow's conference would mostly be a formality, as his deals were nearly settled.

However, for other companies, including the Davis Group, it was a critical opportunity not to be missed.
