Chapter 401 Uncle Frederick Wants a Kiss
Rachel noticed the change in Amelia's mood and consoled her. "It's not your fault."
Amelia snapped back to reality, her gaze falling on Rachel, and a wave of warmth surged in her heart. No matter what, Rachel would always stand by her side.
She quietly suppressed the negative emotions that had surfaced earlier and changed the topic. "How was the outing yesterday?"
"It was no different from any other socializing session," Rachel said, nonchalantly.
Yesterday's hiking trip was tough for those CEOs who were used to sitting in offices. However, the representatives from Yaradia Enterprises found it quite easy.
Rachel rarely hiked and struggled physically, relying on Charles's help to reach the top. She felt somewhat embarrassed about this.
Amelia noticed that Rachel didn't want to talk about the outing and wisely stopped probing any further.
The two sisters chatted as they walked toward the yard.
Frederick followed behind them, holding Anna, occasionally chiming in. "When is Mr. Wright returning to Yaradia? He usually hosts the parties. Since he's rarely at Frostpeak Haven, I want to invite him for a meal."
Rachel's eyes betrayed no emotion as she responded calmly, "I'm not sure what his schedule is like. But I do think your idea holds merit."
This time, the Davis Group managed to secure most of the Yaradia Enterprises contracts thanks to Charles's help. Even if Frederick didn't end up inviting Charles for a meal, she should.
However, every time Rachel met Charles, the slightly calculating look in his eyes made Rachel wary.
Charles was good at reading people, and Rachel worried that a single misstep could lead to total defeat.
Facing Charles, Rachel felt immense pressure, especially since she owed him a favor. "I'll find out a suitable time and let you know," she said.
Frederick nodded. "Thank you, Rachel."
"It's no trouble. I owe him a meal too. Why don't we do it together?" That way, she could avoid being alone with Charles.
Frederick agreed. "Alright."
Satisfied with Frederick's response, Rachel nodded and walked toward the garage.
Felix had been waiting by the car. Seeing Amelia and Frederick come out, he quickly opened the rear passenger door for them.
Once in the car, Amelia couldn't help but ask Frederick, "Do you think Mr. Wright and my sister might get together in the future?"
Previously, Frederick would have confidently dismissed the idea. But after seeing Charles and Rachel interact over the past few days, Frederick wasn't so sure. Rachel might not have noticed, but Charles was always looking out for her when they were together.
Having worked with Rachel in business for years, Frederick knew her well; few people could make Rachel seem like a softer, more nurturing woman, but Charles somehow managed it.
"It depends on what Rachel chooses," Frederick said, pulling Amelia closer.
Anna, overhearing the conversation, looked up and asked softly, "What about Uncle Sebastian?"
Mentioning Rachel made Anna think of Sebastian. Frederick and Amelia fell silent for a few seconds. After all, Sebastian was supposed to marry Rachel. Now, their separation was indeed lamentable.
"He hasn't visited me in a long time," Anna mumbled.
Sebastian used to visit the Davis Manor almost every day, so his sudden absence left a rather obvious void.
"Uncle Sebastian has been busy lately," Frederick explained, gently rubbing Anna's head. His tone was tender and soothing.
"Oh," Anna replied softly, not probing further. Amelia and Frederick breathed a sigh of relief.
At General Hospital, Amelia opened the car door to get out.
Anna grabbed Amelia's sleeve, leaned across Frederick's arms, and kissed Amelia on the cheek.
"Goodbye, Mommy. Work hard," Anna said seriously and sweetly, making Amelia's heart melt. She kissed Anna's cheek in return.
"I will. Anna, be good and listen to Dad," she cooed.
Anna nodded earnestly, patting her chest in assurance. "I'll be good."
Amelia was amused by her actions, her eyes filled with mirth.
"Please take care of Anna," she said, looking at Frederick with gentle eyes.
Frederick nodded. "Don't worry."
Amelia nodded and turned to get out of the car.
Frederick, seeing that Amelia had kissed Anna but not him, quickly grabbed her arm.
Amelia puzzled, turned to look at Frederick. "What's wrong?" she asked, perplexed.
Frederick's expression turned resentful.
Anna seemed to understand Frederick's meaning, pointing to her lips as if reminding Amelia. However, Amelia didn't notice Anna's gesture.
"Don't you think you're forgetting something? Are you just going to leave like this?" Frederick said, sounding aggrieved.
Amelia looked confused. Anna couldn't help but speak up, her voice clear. "Uncle Frederick wants a kiss from Mommy," she said, pouting cutely.
Amelia's face turned bright red. Frederick pointed to his cheek, shamelessly saying, "Right here is fine."
Felix, listening to their conversation from the driver's seat, thought about all the sad things that had happened to him recently to suppress his smile.
Blushing, Amelia leaned toward Frederick under Anna's innocent gaze.
Frederick covered Anna's eyes and turned his face to meet Amelia's lips.
Feeling his lips on hers, Amelia's face turned even redder.
She couldn't help but lightly hit Frederick on the shoulder, annoyed at his antics in front of Anna. Frederick didn't mind, leaning in to kiss her lips again before he was finally satisfied.
Anna, with her eyes covered, sat quietly in Frederick's arms, softly asking, "Mommy, are you done kissing?"
Amelia's face turned even redder as she hurriedly got out of the car.
