Chapter 413 Frederick Holding Anna in a Meeting

Dylan had always been sensitive to other people's feelings, so how could he not notice Ken's assistant's attitude toward him?

If Ken really cared about him, how could Ken's assistant dare to be so indifferent to him?

Amelia frowned, looking at the group with displeasure.

Cynthia couldn't understand Fondanissian and looked to Amelia for help.

Amelia declared flatly, "It's none of your business how Dylan is doing. Go and tell Mr. Angoulême that since he left Dylan in Kasfee and returned to Fondaniss with Ms. Made yesterday, he has no right to know anything about Dylan's life anymore. He made his choice, hasn't he?"

Ken's assistant was silent for a few seconds after hearing Amelia's words, then nodded solemnly. "I will convey what you've said to Mr. Angoulême."

Amelia's expression was indifferent. "Goodbye."

Ken's assistant signaled his subordinates to leave.

Cynthia watched as they departed and let out a heavy sigh of relief, grabbing Amelia's hand. She asked worriedly, "Amelia, what did they just say? Do they want to take Dylan away? I will never let them take Dylan away."

Amelia reassured Cynthia, saying in a low voice. "No. They just came to ask about Dylan's condition."

Cynthia gritted her teeth upon hearing this, "They were the ones who caused this! How dare they ask about his condition?"

Thinking of Dylan lying in the hospital bed, Cynthia couldn't help but want to cry.

Amelia comforted Cynthia with a few words, "Mrs. Kingsley, don't be sad. You should go see if Dylan has woken up."

Cynthia immediately composed herself, opened the door to Dylan's ward, and walked in.

Amelia watched Cynthia close the door to Dylan's ward before returning to her office.

In the afternoon, Amelia brought some suitable food for Dylan from the cafeteria and chatted with him.

Dylan was still somewhat moody, but he could still talk to Amelia.

Cynthia stayed by the side, occasionally chiming in when Amelia and Dylan were talking.

After Dylan had his meal, he wanted to rest, so Amelia left.

Harold hadn't come to the hospital all day, and Cynthia had no intention of calling him again.

When Amelia got off work, Frederick hadn't come to pick her up yet, so she took a cab to the Hastings Group.

Amelia walked into the Hastings Group building. The receptionist immediately recognized her and kindly led her to Frederick's private elevator.

Amelia thanked her politely and entered the elevator, heading straight to Frederick's office floor.

Frederick had a meeting in the afternoon, and when Amelia arrived, he was still in the conference room. She didn't see Frederick or Anna in his office, and a look of confusion flashed across her face.

The receptionist had just gone to the restroom. Upon returning, she saw Amelia coming out of Frederick's office and hurriedly approached her. "Ms. Davis, when did you arrive? Mr. Hastings is in a meeting right now, and it might take a while before it ends," he politely said.

Amelia frowned slightly upon hearing this and asked. "Where's Anna?"

If Frederick was in a meeting, where would Anna be?

The receptionist quickly replied, "Anna is in the conference room with Mr. Hastings."

Frederick didn't trust others to take care of Anna, so he almost always took her with him wherever he went in the company.

"Are you serious?" Amelia was stunned for a few seconds. She hadn't accounted for that possibility.

"Can I go to the conference room door and take a look?" she asked softly.

The receptionist nodded, "Of course." The receptionist immediately led Amelia toward the conference room.

The conference room was soundproofed and the door was closed, so Amelia couldn't hear anything from outside.

However, the conference room door had a small window, so she could look inside.

Standing in front of the small window, Amelia saw Frederick sitting at the head of the table, listening intently to the employees' reports.

Anna was sitting on his lap, playing with a custom pen on Frederick's desk.

Anna was scribbling with her pen on the white paper in front of Frederick, looking very serious even though she couldn't write any words.

The manager of the business department was reporting at the moment. This month's business had declined compared to last month. He had come prepared to be criticized, so after finishing his report, he didn't dare to sit down.

Anna's little fingers were holding the pen at the very front, so her hands were covered in ink. Seeing her fingers all black, she reached for a tissue to wipe her hands.

Frederick looked down at Anna's little actions in his lap and then said calmly. "Work hard next month and improve the performance."

The business manager's eyes lit up upon hearing Frederick's kind words, and he replied,, "Yes, Mr. Hastings, we will work hard next month."

Frederick gave a faint hum, showing no signs of anger. Seeing this, the other employees also breathed a sigh of relief.

Anna looked up and saw Amelia standing at the window. She quickly tugged on Frederick's arm and exclaimed excitedly. "It's Mommy."

Her voice was loud at first, but then she remembered Frederick's rule to stay quiet in the conference room, so she lowered her voice. "Mommy is here."

Frederick looked toward the door and indeed saw Amelia's familiar and delicate face framed in the small window. Amelia smiled at them when she saw them looking over.

Frederick's stern demeanor softened as he paused the meeting, stood up, and scooped Anna into his arms to walk to the door.

As soon as the door opened, Anna spread her arms and rushed toward Amelia. "Mommy!"

"You got off work earlier than Uncle Frederick today," Anna giggled as Amelia kissed her cheek.

Amelia then glanced up at Frederick, her voice gentle. "Anna and I will wait for you in the office."

Frederick nodded and signaled the receptionist to take them to the office before closing the conference room door and returning to his seat.

After Anna left, the gentle atmosphere around Frederick completely disappeared. He sat in his chair, looking sternly at the reports from various departments on his computer, his expression sharp.

The employees who hadn't finished their reports began to worry and regretted not having presented their reports earlier.

With Anna around, as long as no major mistakes were made, Frederick wouldn't get angry.

Now that Anna was gone, even the smallest mistake might result in some criticism.

The employees who had yet to present their reports were on the verge of tears, wishing Anna would return to Frederick's lap.

They really didn't mind Frederick holding Anna during the meeting.
