Chapter 329 The Davis Family's Current Issues(2)

Frederick kept staring where Sebastian had just left, not saying a word.

Felix waited quietly. After a bit, Frederick asked calmly, "Are you close with Rachel Davis's secretary?"

Felix hesitated, then nodded, "Yeah, we get along well."

The Hastings Group and the Davis Group often worked together, so Felix and Tina interacted a lot. They even had meals together sometimes.

Frederick just said, "Hmm," and left it at that.

Felix had a moment of doubt but quickly got what Frederick meant. Tina was loyal to Rachel, so if he told her, she'd get the message. Frederick didn't want to get involved directly, but since it concerned the Davis Group, it would affect Amelia too.

Understanding this, Felix got into the car and drove Frederick back to Spring Villa.

The next morning, Amelia handed Rachel her breakfast. Rachel had just sat down when Tina called.

After listening, Rachel smiled coldly and said, "Got it. I'll handle it."

Tina then asked, "Ms. Davis, Kevin Kingsley wants to meet you about a collaboration. Do you want to see him?"

Kevin was always after Sebastian's position. If Rachel teamed up with Kevin, Sebastian would face a lot of trouble.

Rachel tightened her grip on the phone, then said, "Let's wait and see."

Tina paused, then said, "Okay, Ms. Davis."

Rachel put the phone down, and smiled at Anna. "Anna, you need to eat more to grow tall."

Anna nodded seriously, "I want to be as tall as Aunt Rachel."

Rachel chuckled. Just as she was about to say something, her phone rang again. It was the Davis Group's legal department. Her eyes darkened, but she quickly composed herself and said, "I need to take this call. You all go ahead and eat."

Vincent nodded.

Amelia, sitting opposite Rachel, noticed the brief seriousness in Rachel's eyes and felt worried. She watched Rachel leave the dining room, walk to the living room, and then head outside.

"What's up?" Rachel asked as she answered the call.

The lawyer sounded serious. "Ms. Davis, the families of the victims from the Riverfront Estate project eight years ago heard some wild rumors. They think the victims were made into pillars of the houses and are causing trouble, demanding to find the remains and reopen the case."

"The economic talks between Yaradia and Kasfee are about to start. If this news gets out now, it will hurt the Davis Group. I've already had someone calm Mrs. Hastings. How do you want to handle this?" the lawyer cautioned.

Rachel's grip on the phone tightened, and her face turned cold. She took a deep breath and said icily, "I'll be there right away."

She hung up and was about to leave.

When Amelia came out, Rachel had already hung up. Seeing Rachel about to leave, Amelia quickly asked, "Rachel, what's going on?"

Rachel paused and turned to Amelia, saying calmly, "Nothing major. The new assistant messed up the data. We're about to sign the contract, so I need to go back and re-sign it. I won't be able to join you for breakfast."

Amelia noticed Rachel's relaxed expression but felt things weren't as simple as she said. She wanted to ask more, but Rachel had already turned and walked toward the garage.

Standing on the steps, Amelia saw Rachel driving out of the garage, talking on the phone with a serious expression. She took a deep breath and returned to the dining room, where the TV was broadcasting the news.

Vincent liked to listen to the news during breakfast. Amelia walked over, about to tell Vincent that Rachel had gone to the company, when she heard the news mention "Riverfront Estate."

Four years ago, during the construction of Riverfront Estate, a severe safety accident occurred, injuring about ten workers and killing five. This incident brought public criticism to the Davis Group for the first time.

At that time, Vincent was still managing the company, and Rachel was just a manager. Vincent had initiated and fully handled the project, but the accident led to various impacts on many of the Davis family's businesses. All projects of the Davis Group were almost shut down for inspection, causing significant losses.

Rachel had already considered transitioning the company, but Vincent never agreed with her ideas before. After the incident, Vincent developed depression and gave up management, allowing Rachel to take over and complete the transition.

Although the issue had been resolved four years ago, it was now being reported again. With the economic talks between Yaradia and Kasfee approaching, this news would undoubtedly affect the Davis family.

Amelia frowned, unable to understand why the victims' families were suddenly causing trouble and demanding a reinvestigation after eight years.

Anna, sitting in the dining room, saw Vincent's hand trembling as he held his fork. She reached out her small hand and placed it on Vincent's, asking with concern, "Grandpa, what's wrong?"

Hearing this, Amelia quickly walked into the dining room. The "Riverfront Estate" project had always been a sore spot for Vincent. If there had been no problems, its innovative residential design concept would have sparked a new trend, and the Davis family would have thrived.

Until recently, Amelia still often saw Vincent reviewing the design plans of Riverfront Estate, trying to find the specific issues. Now that this matter was being exposed again, it was like reopening Vincent's wound, making him naturally agitated and uncontrollable.

"Dad," Amelia said, walking over and patting Vincent's back.

Susan immediately turned off the TV and brought Vincent his medication. Even after taking the medicine, Vincent remained agitated, his eyes red as he tightly held Amelia's hand. He said in a hoarse voice, "Take me to Riverfront Estate to find Rachel."
