Chapter 414 Brittany Left Her Property to Amelia

The meeting lasted for an additional half hour before it ended.

Frederick walked out of the conference room as soon as the meeting was over. The employees followed behind him, their faces showing signs of the sadness that comes after being criticized.

Amelia was playing with Anna in the hallway when Frederick walked over to them.

When Anna saw Frederick approaching, she smiled and tried to run, but Frederick quickly grabbed her and picked her up with one hand. He leaned in and rubbed his handsome face against Anna's head. "Trying to run? Where do you think you're going?" he teased.

Anna was amused by Frederick and laughed heartily. Amelia stood to the side, smiling as she watched the father-daughter interaction.

The employees passing by smiled respectfully and politely at Amelia as a greeting. Amelia returned their smiles with a slight nod. Frederick reached out to wrap his arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace.

Frederick said gently, "We need to go back to the Hastings Manor tonight to have dinner with Grandma. I've already told Mr. Davis that we won't be having dinner at home."

Amelia nodded lightly in agreement, "Alright, it's been a while since we last saw Grandma."

Brittany lived alone in the Hastings Manor, surrounded by servants who attended to her needs. However, the servants couldn't replace the warmth of family. As people age, they often desire the company of their loved ones, and Brittany was no exception.

Frederick went back to his office to grab his coat before leaving with Amelia and Anna. The trio left together, drawing the attention of the receptionist, who watched until their car disappeared from view.

"Mr. Hastings and Ms. Davis really are a perfect match," remarked one of the employees, admiration evident in her voice.

"Their whole family is so good-looking. They're just too attractive," chimed in another.

"There were always rumors in the company that Ms. Roberts and Mr. Hastings were the real couple. Although Ms. Roberts is not bad-looking, she's just not on the same level as Mr. Hastings," added another, sparking nods of agreement.

Indeed, whenever Amber stood next to Frederick, she didn't seem like a good match.

Upon arriving at the Hastings Manor, Brittany welled up with emotion at the sight of Amelia and Anna. Frederick gently set Anna down, and she promptly dashed into Brittany's arms.

"Mrs. Hastings," Anna exclaimed.

Brittany beamed at Anna's voice, nodding quickly and tenderly ruffling her head, careful not to startle her with a brusque sound.

Amelia walked up to her, took the wheelchair from Tom, and smiled as she softly asked him, "How has Grandma's health been lately?"

Tom also smiled and replied, "Mrs. Hastings stood up by herself for a while today."

Amelia smiled at the news, gently patting Brittany's shoulder as she bent down to speak to her. "Grandma, you're amazing. Many elderly people in your condition can't even stand up."

Brittany listened to Amelia's words, her eyes crinkling with a smile, and she patted Amelia's shoulder. She couldn't speak a complete sentence, but the affection in her eyes was clear.

Amelia knew what Brittany wanted to say, so she smiled lightly and said softly. "It's okay, take your time with the exercises. Just be careful while exercising, don't overdo it, or it could lead to more serious consequences."

Brittany listened to Amelia's advice and nodded seriously in response.

Anna wanted to try pushing the wheelchair, so she stayed close to Amelia, occasionally reaching out to take control of it. But when she realized she didn't have enough strength to move it, she gave up on her own.

The Hastings Manor had a play area for children. Although Anna didn't come here often, Brittany never had the area dismantled. Anna quickly adapted to the environment and ran off to play on her own.

Frederick sat on the couch, listening to Amelia and Brittany chat. He occasionally chimed in, but most of his attention was on Anna, worried that she might get into trouble while playing alone.

When Amelia brought up the hospital, Brittany grasped Amelia's hand, attempting to speak but only managing a few hoarse "ah" sounds. Tom interjected, noting, "Mrs. Hastings might be inquiring about Mr. Dylan Kingsley."

Brittany had recently learned to surf the Internet. To pass the time, she watched short videos, and she came across news about Dylan.

Amelia sighed softly. "Dylan is not in any serious condition, but his mental state is not good. He might need a long time to recover. Psychological issues require him to overcome them on his own; no one else can help him. It's not a very optimistic situation at the moment."

Brittany sighed deeply, her expression full of regret. She had watched Dylan grow up. He had always been smart and honest, but she had never expected him to be so vulnerable when it came to matters of the heart.

As they were talking, Tom brought some file folders from the study. He handed them to Brittany.

Brittany reached out to take the folders handed over by Tom, took out its contents, and handed them to Amelia.

Amelia looked at the contents of the folders, her expression showing a bit of surprise.

Brittany was planning to transfer most of her assets to her.

Attempting to decline the offer, Amelia insisted, "Grandma, I can't accept these. You should retain them. I don't need any of this." However, Brittany held onto Amelia's hand firmly, pushing back the documents with determination.

Tom explained on Brittany's behalf. "Mrs. Hastings has wanted to give these to you for a long time. She has been handling these matters recently, having a lawyer make an inventory of her fixed assets and transferring them all to you. Ms. Davis, please accept them. This is Mrs. Hastings' heartfelt wish."

Brittany was always worried that if she became senile later, she wouldn't be able to handle these matters.

Amelia had endured a lot of grievances during the three years of her marriage to Frederick.

The following three years were even more difficult. As a fellow woman, Brittany naturally felt compassion for Amelia.

Amelia looked at the agreement in her hand and sighed helplessly. "Grandma, these assets might not be put to good use in my hands. They would be more valuable and beneficial if you transferred them to Frederick. You..."

Brittany interrupted, shaking her head firmly, signaling her intent to gift these assets to Amelia rather than Frederick. It was clear to her that Amelia and Anna needed the assets more than he did.

Regardless of Amelia's future with Frederick, possessing these assets would undoubtedly bolster her confidence and security.
