Chapter 169 Frederick Frantically Combed Anna's Hair

Amelia casually caught Anna, who rushed toward her.

Anna nestled in Amelia's arms, tightly hugged her neck, and rubbed her little face against her neck.

Vincent's expression looked somewhat awkward.

"Anna," he spoke softly, thinking about how to coax Anna back.

Usually obedient and sensible, Anna was feeling a bit uncomfortable now, so she just wanted Amelia to accompany her.

To prevent Vincent from taking her away, she held Amelia's hand tightly.

"Mommy."

Her voice was soft and cute, with a hint of coquetry.

Amelia smiled helplessly, glanced at Anna lying on the sofa, and then said,

"Dad, it's okay, let her stay here."

Amelia spoke, and Anna immediately waved to Vincen. "Goodbye, Grandpa."

Vincent looked at Anna, who was so eager for him to leave, with a mix of indulgence and helplessness in his eyes.

"You little girl, always saying nice things, but when it comes to crucial moments, you don't want me," Vincent said.

Anna, being told by Vincent like this, looked a bit guilty in her eyes, lowered her head, and quietly stayed in Amelia's arms, pretending not to hear Vincent's words.

Carl was waiting downstairs for Vincent.

After giving a few instructions, Vincent left.

Amelia escorted Vincent to the elevator, watched him enter, and only returned to the room after the elevator doors closed.

Frederick was lying on the bed, already deep in sleep.

Anna had a fever, her face flushed.

After getting out of Amelia's arms, she leaned over to look at Frederick sleeping on the sofa, then covered her nose.

"Uncle Frederick smells of alcohol."

Amelia was confused about Anna's words.

It was only later that she realized Anna was referring to Frederick's strong alcohol scent.

"Let's wash Uncle Frederick." She immediately reached out to pull Amelia's hand and shook it. "Uncle Frederick shouldn't smell."

Amelia was a bit hesitant. "Uncle Frederick is already asleep. Tomorrow morning, when he wakes up, he can wash himself."

Anna shook her head like a pendulum. She was running a low fever and felt uncomfortable, so she was emotionally fragile at the moment. Seeing Amelia's refusal, she immediately teared up.

"Don't let Uncle Frederick smell bad. He can't smell bad."

Seeing Anna like this, Amelia felt a headache.

Suddenly, she remembered a time back in Fondaniss when a doll she loved was dirtied, and she insisted that Susan clean it repeatedly.

Since then, Amelia realized that Anna probably had a cleanliness obsession similar to Frederick's.

It was just that Amelia didn't expect Frederick and Anna, who had only met a few times, to hold a place in her heart similar to the cherished doll from her childhood.

Daniel had watched her grow up, and once, when he accidentally spilled soup on himself, Anna's first reaction was to stay far away, unlike now.

The power of blood relations was truly frightening.

Amelia rubbed her forehead and looked at her tears about to fall, unable to bear seeing her sick and unhappy.

"I will bathe Uncle Frederick, and now I'm going to get water. Can you wait here?"

Anna nodded, holding a bottle in her arms, and sat on the sofa a little away from Frederick.

Amelia sighed softly. She went to Frederick's room to find a set of his pajamas, filled the water in the bathroom, and brought it to the sofa.

Frederick's shirt was slightly open, revealing a part of his strong chest.

Anna, holding the bottle, saw Amelia standing in front of Frederick without moving, so she waved her small hand and pointed.

Amelia smiled helplessly and had to bend down to unbutton Frederick's shirt.

As she was taking off Frederick's shirt, Frederick, who was supposed to be asleep, suddenly grabbed her hand.

His deep and cold eyes stared at her, and he gripped her wrist tightly, his guarded gaze very serious.

Amelia was startled by his sudden movement.

But soon, the strength in the man's hand loosened, his eyes showing a drunken and blurry look, and then he turned his gaze away and closed his eyes.

Amelia gently pushed him a few times. Seeing him not moving, she struggled to take off his shirt and wiped his body.

After completing the task Anna assigned, Amelia felt her waist was about to give out.

The smell of alcohol on Frederick's body had finally dissipated a lot.

She turned to look at Anna, only to see her small body sinking into the sofa, already asleep.

Amelia tidied up briefly, walked over, and picked up Anna.

Just as she was about to carry her to the bedroom to sleep, Anna, in her arms, drowsily opened her eyes.

"Uncle Frederick,"

As Anna spoke, she pointed to Frederick on the sofa.

Amelia paused for a moment, seeing the concern in Anna's eyes, a nameless emotion spread in her heart.

"Does Anna want to stay with Uncle Frederick?" Amelia asked.

Anna nodded.

Amelia, helpless, could only place Anna on the sofa next to Frederick.

Fortunately, the sofa was large enough, and Anna didn't seem too crowded here.

After lying down on the sofa, Anna quickly fell asleep.

Amelia looked at her with a sense of security, feeling complex emotions.

Throughout the night, Anna's high fever recurred, and Amelia lay on the other side of the sofa, too afraid to fall asleep.

It wasn't until past five in the morning that Anna's fever finally subsided, and Amelia's tense nerves eased a bit.

She brought a small blanket to cover Anna and Frederick, then lay down on the other side of the sofa, drifting into a light sleep.

When Frederick woke up, he felt a splitting headache. He raised his hand to rub his forehead but felt his arm being pressed down.

He suddenly opened his eyes, glanced to the side, and saw a tender little face resting on his arm.

Seeing Anna's sleeping face, Frederick's expression stiffened for a moment, his arm frozen, not daring to move.

Anna turned over, and he held his breath, afraid of waking her up.

Seeing Anna there, he immediately started looking for Amelia's figure and indeed saw her lying on the other side of the sofa, her body slightly tired.

Thinking about how she seemed to be taking care of him in her daze last night, his gaze toward Amelia softened with a tinge of guilt.

Anna turned over next to Frederick, then sat up with her little butt.

She sat beside Frederick and rubbed her eyes. When she saw Frederick looking at her, she sweetly smiled.

"Uncle Frederick."

Frederick got up from the sofa. Seeing her messy hair, he used his hand to tidy it up.

When Amelia woke up, she saw Frederick tidying up Anna's hair. Although his movements were a bit clumsy, it was evident that he was putting in a lot of effort to groom Anna.
