Chapter 407 The Kingsley Family Exposed Anna's Photos
Harold was still hiding in his office, too afraid to face his employees.
Amelia called Rachel to inquire about the situation, and Rachel quickly got back to her. Ken and Line had indeed left Kasfee on a private jet.
Amelia relayed the news to Cynthia, who finally breathed a sigh of relief. "It's good that he's gone."
Amelia watched Cynthia's transition from anxious to calm and said, "Dylan is an adult now; he can handle his own problems. Mrs. Kingsley, you don't need to worry too much."
Cynthia nodded, before smiling and thanking Amelia. After chatting for a while, Cynthia left the hospital.
However, Amelia hadn't expected that the Kingsley family would expose Anna's photos to get rid of the scandal.
At midnight, Amelia had just fallen asleep when Nicole's call woke her up.
Nicole rarely called her so late, so Amelia groggily answered the phone.
"Amelia! Check out the news I sent you! The Kingsley family actually showed Anna's photos to the media!" Nicole's voice was frantic.
Anna's name jolted Amelia awake. Her heart raced as her sleepiness vanished. She ended the call with Nicole and immediately opened her social media app to see the notification Nicole mentioned.
Amelia's fingers shook as she clicked on the link. Sure enough, it was an announcement.
The announcement first explained that the video about Dylan yesterday was maliciously fabricated, saying Dylan was just simply joking around with a friend. Then, it showed Anna's photos, stating that Dylan had a child three years ago.
The announcement even clarified that Dylan wasn't gay.
The photos showed Dylan holding Anna, with pictures of her from a few months old to one-year-old.
Amelia gripped her phone tightly, her face pale. Only Dylan had these photos. If he had not released them, neither Harold nor Cynthia could have gotten them.
When she tried to send a private message to the account that posted the announcement, it showed that the account had been deleted.
She clicked back in, but the announcement was no longer visible.
Amelia bit her lip hard, not expecting the Kingsley family to push Anna into the spotlight.
Anna woke up from the noise Amelia was making, rubbed her eyes, and looked at Amelia. "Mommy, are you okay?" she asked, her voice filled with sleepy apprehension.
Amelia forced a gentle smile. "I'm fine, sweetie," she reassured her, tucking Anna back into bed. "Go back to sleep."
Anna obediently snuggled under her comforter and drifted off, while Amelia's mind reeled with worry.
Amelia's expression was grim. She began composing a message to Frederick. Before she could hit send, a message from him appeared on her screen.
Frederick: [I'm already handling it.]
She exhaled deeply, feeling a flicker of relief. She deleted her drafted message and quickly replied.
Amelia: [Don't let the media focus on Anna.]
Frederick: [Okay.]
His curt assurance seemed to siphon away Amelia's anxiety, though her mind was still buzzing.
Anna was already fast asleep. Amelia stepped out of the bedroom to call Dylan for an explanation. Just then, Rachel emerged from the room next door, her expression as serious as ever.
Rachel was still in her pajamas, holding her phone while on a call. "Dylan hasn't left; he's still at the hotel," Rachel announced, a hint of irritation in her voice.
Amelia's expression changed. She had not expected Dylan to lie to her.
Rachel went back to her room, grabbed a coat, and said coldly, "I'm going to the hotel to find him."
Amelia immediately followed, "I'll go with you."
Rachel nodded in agreement.
When they arrived at the hotel, the floor where Dylan was staying was already crowded with staff.
Amelia felt a strange sense of unease. She quickly walked toward the crowd, and soon Frederick pushed through and came out. He was wiping blood off his knuckles with a tissue. Seeing Amelia, his previously fierce expression softened considerably.
"Why aren't you at home sleeping? What are you doing here?" he asked, tossing the tissue into a trash can as he approached her.
Amelia looked up at him, her eyes filled with tension. "Did you hit him?" she murmured.
Frederick nodded, walked to Amelia's side, pulled her into his arms, and said gently, "Don't worry, it's all taken care of. The media won't spread Anna's photos anymore, and I won't let them focus on Anna."
Amelia nodded lightly, her gaze shifting toward Dylan.
Dylan had been beaten badly by Frederick, his face bruised and his lip bleeding.
Cynthia was beside him, wiping the blood off his face while crying.
Dylan noticed Amelia and wanted to walk over, but Cynthia held him back tightly, afraid that Frederick might beat him again if he approached.
Finally, Amelia saw Dylan mouth the words, "I'm sorry."
Amelia was silent for a moment, then looked away from Dylan and whispered to Frederick, "Let's go back."
Frederick nodded and held Amelia as they entered the elevator.
Rachel stood to the side, glanced at Dylan, and then said to Frederick, "If I knew you were here, I wouldn't have come."
Frederick said calmly, "Sorry to make you come for nothing, Rachel."
Rachel remained silent.
The three of them returned to the Davis Manor together.
Rachel parked the car in the garage, went straight upstairs to her room, and reminded them, "Keep it down; I need my beauty sleep."
Amelia immediately understood the implication in Rachel's words, blushed, and muttered to Frederick, "I'll prepare the guest room for you..."
Before she could finish, Frederick, already halfway up the stairs with his coat in hand, turned back and said, "No need for that. I'll stay in your room tonight."
Amelia was silent.
Frederick entered Amelia's room, his steps much lighter. He first walked to Anna's small bed, pulled up her little comforter, then bent down and kissed her cheek, his eyes full of fatherly love.
Seeing this, Amelia's eyes couldn't help but well up with tears. If Frederick hadn't acted swiftly, Anna's photos could've gone viral by morning. The thought of her little girl being dragged through the mud by the ruthless media twisted her heart.
Amelia couldn't bear the thought of her daughter exposed to such cruelty.
