Chapter 385 See the Truth Sooner

After waiting in silence for a brief moment without receiving a response from Vincent, Amelia called out in a perplexed tone, "Dad?"

Vincent finally snapped out of it. Instead of directly answering Amelia's question, he asked, "Did she say anything to you?"

Amelia thought seriously momentarily and shook her head. She answered, "Not much, she just remarked that I've grown up, so I guess she must have seen me when I was little."

"Yeah," Vincent responded. "Maybe it's been too long. I don't remember such a person. After all, you know the situation at the Davis family back then."

The Davis family was at its peak when Amelia was around ten years old. At that time, many prominent families wanted to associate with it, and Vincent was always busy.

During that period, Amelia met many wealthy young men and women, but now she couldn't recall much about those people. So Layla must be one of them.

Believing that Frederick had already made his position clear in her presence, Amelia ceased dwelling on Layla.

Seeing that Amelia had no suspicions, Vincent secretly exhaled a sigh of relief, though his eyes still held a hint of guilt when he looked at her.

"Mommy, let me help." Anna's cheerful voice rang out from behind. At her age, playing with sand and mud was pure delight.

Hearing her voice, Vincent quickly said. "Quick, pick her up."

Before Frederick could react, Anna had already run into the vegetable garden. In seconds, a row of tiny seedlings lay trampled under her feet.

Vincent rubbed his forehead in frustration, but his gaze toward Anna was still full of affection, without a hint of blame. "Anna, you're such a troublemaker," he said, shaking his head.

Frederick quickly walked over and scooped Anna out of the garden.

Amelia stepped forward, reaching for Anna and looking up at Frederick with a soft inquiry in her voice. "Are you leaving?"

Frederick nodded. "Yeah, Felix called and urged me. Do you want to come with me?"

Amelia immediately shook her head. "No. Business people will attend today's dinner so that I won't go." The thought of a group of men engrossed in business talk held no appeal to her.

Frederick nodded in understanding, chatted with Vincent for a bit, then ruffled Anna's hair before leaving.

Anna's mind was set on Vincent's vegetable garden, and she struggled to get down from Amelia's arms.

Seeing this, Vincent chuckled helplessly and let Amelia set her down.

With Anna's destruction, many of Vincent's vegetable seedlings were ruined.

So, Amelia found an excuse to take Anna from the backyard to the front hall.

As soon as they sat on the sofa, her phone rang.

Amelia glanced at the caller ID, which showed it was Dylan, who hadn't called her in a long time. Her eyes darkened slightly.

She hesitated momentarily, then answered Dylan's call. "Dylan?"

As soon as Amelia answered the call, Dylan spoke up. "Amelia, did you go to the conference with my cousin today?"

Amelia responded lightly, "Yeah."

Dylan quickly continued, "Was the conference fun? I wanted to go, but Ken said it wasn't fun at all and was just boring business socializing, so I didn't go."

When Amelia heard that Dylan quickly shifted the topic to Ken, her eyes showed a bit of helplessness. She asked straightly, "Dylan, do you have something you want to ask me?"

Dylan was silent for a moment after Amelia's straightforward question, then spoke softly. "Nothing can be hidden from you."

Amelia's eyes showed a bit of helplessness. Dylan calling her was probably about Ken.

Dylan sighed. "Ken and I fought last night. You know the situation with my family now. My father's company isn't doing well, and I can't help much. I wanted Ken to take me to the conference to promote my father's company a bit. With his influence, he could help me with just a word. But he didn't take me."

Dylan sighed deeply as he said the last sentence, his tone full of endless disappointment.

Amelia remained silent, quietly listening to Dylan without expressing any opinions.

Dylan paused, then asked in a low voice, "Amelia, did Ken take Line to the conference today?"

Amelia couldn't help but sigh lightly and replied softly. "Dylan, when you ask me this question, don't you already have the answer in your heart?"

Dylan was silent for a long time before awkwardly laughing and muttering. "Yeah. I already know the answer, but for some reason, I just wanted to ask."

Dylan murmured, "Even though Ken has assured me that I'm the one he loves the most and that he has no feelings for Line and will divorce her once his goal is achieved, I still feel very insecure. Amelia, what should I do?" His voice was tinged with helplessness.

Amelia frowned slightly, her grip on the phone tightening, and finally said softly. "Dylan, what kind of answer do you want to hear from me?"

She had already advised Dylan before. If she repeated those words too many times, they would lose their meaning.

Dylan was taken aback and apologized. "Amelia, I'm sorry. Am I being too negative? But besides you, I don't know who else to talk to about this."

Amelia sighed slightly. "It's okay. The fact that you want to tell me these things means you still consider me a friend. But..."

Before Amelia could finish, Dylan interrupted. "How have you and my cousin been lately? The last time I went to the hospital to find you, I saw Frederick picking you up. I wanted to talk to you, but he looked so unapproachable, so I didn't go over."

Amelia responded softly. "Not bad. He's been taking good care of me and Anna."

Dylan chuckled, "As long as he knows how to take care of you and Anna. I hope my relationship with Ken can eventually become like yours with Frederick."

As Dylan spoke, he was full of hope for the future. Amelia took a deep breath but ultimately didn't shatter Dylan's hope.

Dylan then said with a laugh, "Soon, you'll probably marry my cousin, right?"

Amelia smiled faintly and responded softly. "He's still under my observation. No rush for marriage."

Dylan remarked, "You're really patient."

Amelia replied, "Things that come too easily might not be cherished."

Dylan was silent for a while, then muttered. "So, Ken doesn't cherish me because I was too easy to get?"

Hearing this, Amelia parted her lips, wanting to advise him to see the truth sooner.

However, Dylan suddenly said excitedly. "Amelia, I have to go. Ken is calling me." With that, Dylan hung up.

Amelia frowned as she looked at the ended call. Ken had completely controlled Dylan. But he and Line wouldn't divorce so easily.

Amelia wondered when Dylan would finally see the truth.
