Chapter 495 A Rift Between Good Friends

Scott held his test report in his hand, looked at Amelia, and said, "I have a party tomorrow, are you free to come?"

Amelia didn't even think twice. "Thanks, but I've got plans."

Scott saw her cold expression, rubbed his temples, and sighed. "You're always so guarded around me."

Amelia didn't say anything. Scott gave a helpless smile and went on, "I know the Davis Family's been having a rough time. You probably know I've got some pull with the Mafia, so getting info is a breeze for me. Tomorrow's the anniversary of Miracles Under Moonlight. If you show up, I'll fill you in on what's really going on with your family."

Scott waited for her answer with a smile. Amelia glanced at him and said, "I don't need an outsider to tell me about my family issues."

Scott chuckled, leaned in closer, and whispered, "You know your family is being watched, right?"

Amelia was startled and frowned. She knew the manor was under surveillance and even knew who the mole was. But they had kept it under wraps and were even working with the mole. So why did Scott know about it?

Her reaction pleased Scott. He smiled slightly and said, "Amelia, I know you want to help your sister. Come to Miracles Under Moonlight tomorrow, and I'll tell you who's watching you. Deal?"

Amelia took a deep breath and looked at Scott, pretending to be nervous. "How do you know someone's watching my family? Are you spying on us too?" she asked.

Scott was caught off guard by her sharpness, and his smile faded a bit, but he quickly recovered. "In Kasfee, there's nothing I can't find out if I want to. Do you really think my family just runs bars?"

Amelia stayed silent. Scott saw a chance and didn't want to miss it. He looked into her eyes and said seriously, "Miracles Under Moonlight isn't a place for just anyone. The elites spill their secrets after a few drinks. My family has made a lot of money from this info over the years. So knowing the Davis Manor is being watched is no big deal."

Amelia listened quietly, her expression serious. Scott was pleased with her reaction. He said, "Know yourself and your enemy, and you'll never lose. So, will you come to the anniversary tomorrow?"

Amelia bit her lip, hesitating as she looked at Scott. After a moment, she said, "Why don't you just tell me who it is? Then I'll think about coming to your party."

Scott raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "Amelia, I'm the one making the offer here, not you. If I spill the beans now, what's to stop you from bailing on the party?"

Amelia went quiet. Scott smiled, not pushing any further. He got up and said softly, "Show up tomorrow, and you might get more than just info on the Davis Family. It could help your friends too."

Amelia's face darkened, ready to ask more, but Scott was already out the door. Watching him leave, she frowned, gripping the report tightly.

After Scott left, a nurse hurried to Amelia's office door. Seeing her sitting quietly, the nurse asked, "Dr. Davis, are you okay?"

Amelia shook her head gently. "I'm fine."

Hearing her calm voice, the nurse, reassured, went back to her work.

Once alone, Amelia got up and started inspecting her office. Sure enough, she found a small bug under her desk. It was the same type she had found in the Davis Manor study. She frowned and immediately checked her phone for the office surveillance footage.

When the bug was placed in the study, she had already checked her office and hadn't found this one under the desk. It was clear it had been placed recently. Few people knew about the hidden camera in her office, which she had installed to deal with Amber, who often came to the hospital to find her when she first returned to the country. To avoid trouble, Amelia had secretly placed the camera in her office.

The camera was hidden in the medical records cabinet, which was always locked, so almost no one knew about it.

She opened the surveillance footage and started reviewing the recordings from that morning.

After Scott entered her office, he sat in the chair, played with his phone for a bit, and then idly looked at things on her desk. Nothing unusual.

Amelia kept looking further back. Most of the time, colleagues came in to get documents, say hello, and leave. Sometimes, family members of patients would come to ask about their loved ones and stay for a while. But nothing seemed off.

She fast-forwarded through the footage, even while eating lunch in the cafeteria, still watching her phone.

When Jesse and Nicole walked into the cafeteria, Nicole immediately spotted Amelia sitting not far away, engrossed in her phone.

Jesse, who hadn't wanted Nicole to interact with Amelia lately, whispered, "Dr. Davis seems busy. Let's not bother her. Remember how she ignored you last time?"

Nicole, feeling extra sensitive lately due to her pregnancy, stopped and walked in another direction after hearing Jesse's words.

She felt that Amelia had betrayed their friendship first. So, if anyone should apologize, it should be Amelia!
