Chapter 422 Disgusted by Their Behavior
Felix was chillin' in a tiny corner, eavesdropping on Amelia and Frederick's convo, barely breathing. He was the one who dug up all the dirt and even helped Frederick cook up the plan to snatch Amelia from Dylan. Felix even went through the General Hospital's old reports from three years back.
Amelia had a check-up before she quit, and that check-up made them not even question Anna's identity.
But no matter how much they schemed, they never saw it coming that Anna was Frederick's kid. So, they ditched the plan.
Meanwhile, in Dylan's ward, Cynthia heard a knock and opened the door to find Harold standing there. Her face went pale, eyes locked on him, and she whispered, "If you say anything stupid in front of Dylan, I'll fight you to the end."
Harold frowned, gave her a cold stare, and hissed, "You better sign those divorce papers before I lose it and kick you and your useless son out."
Cynthia took a deep breath, feeling a chill run down her spine.
Dylan saw Cynthia at the door and asked, "Mom, who is it?"
Cynthia bit her lip, forced a smile, turned to Dylan, and said softly, "It's your dad."
Dylan's face dropped, looking towards the door.
Harold was just there to push Cynthia to sign the papers, not to check on Dylan.
He shot Cynthia a cold glare, and she gave him a warning look back, both of them clashing where Dylan couldn't see.
In the end, Harold stepped into Dylan's hospital room.
When Dylan saw Harold, he looked uneasy and softly said, "Dad."
Harold kept his stern face, making Cynthia nervous. Luckily, Harold just glanced at Dylan and said, "Get some rest."
Dylan nodded, about to speak, but Harold walked out of the room.
Seeing Harold leave so quickly, Cynthia's hand clenched, but with Dylan there, she kept her cool. "Your dad's got a meeting at work, he's been busy, so he hasn't come to see you. You know how he is, don't take it to heart," she explained.
Dylan looked at the door, not saying a word.
Cynthia took a deep breath, closed the door, and tried to chat with Dylan about other stuff.
Dylan responded half-heartedly, feeling heavier than before.
Cynthia noticed Dylan's mood shift, gritting her teeth. Anna had just started to lift Dylan's spirits, and Harold's visit shattered it.
Cynthia never expected Harold to do anything for Dylan. But he actually wanted Dylan gone! That was something she couldn't stand.
Harold wanted to control all the assets, but she'd make sure he left with nothing! He was the cheater, and he had the illegitimate kid, but he still wanted everything? What a joke.
The next day, Amelia rolled into the hospital first thing, checking on Dylan and bringing Cynthia some breakfast.
She was kinda worried Harold might've said something to Dylan yesterday, but when she saw Dylan was chill, she felt way better. She chatted with him for a bit and then bounced.
As Cynthia was seeing Amelia off, she turned to say a few words, not noticing Elijah sneaking up behind her, chucking a water jug at her head.
Cynthia, talking to Amelia, yanked her to the side when she saw what was happening.
Even with Cynthia's quick move, the jug still clocked Amelia on the head. It hit her and then smashed on the floor.
Frederick saw this and stormed over. He grabbed Elijah by the collar, ready to throw a punch.
"Frederick, don't!" Amelia jumped in, grabbing Frederick's arm. Elijah was old, and a punch from Frederick could mess him up bad. Amelia didn't want Frederick getting into legal trouble over this.
These old folks might look harmless, but they were pros at playing the victim and milking sympathy.
Frederick's grip on Elijah's collar tightened, his eyes blazing. "Frederick," Amelia said again, calmer but firm. Finally, he let out a slow breath and shoved Elijah away, still fuming.
Elijah stumbled back, catching himself against the wall. Seeing Frederick's murderous glare, he got a bit scared.
Security heard the ruckus and rushed over, grabbing Elijah, while people around started gawking.
Amelia felt a dull pain at the back of her head.
Cynthia quickly checked her, seeing no broken skin. She sighed in relief, then snapped at Elijah, "Are you nuts?"
Elijah, held by security, saw the crowd and started yelling at Amelia. "You bitch! You wrecked my son's family! You ruined him! You don't deserve to be a doctor, you vicious witch!"
Amelia frowned, looking at Elijah's furious face, thinking of Rodolfo.
Sandra and Constance heard the commotion and ran out of Maria's room. Seeing Elijah held by security and the broken jug on the floor, Sandra got the picture.
Elijah had gone out yesterday, and Sandra figured he went to see Rodolfo and maybe even got a lawyer.
Sandra used to respect Elijah and Constance, thinking they were different from Rodolfo, honest and decent. But she didn't expect Elijah to go off and attack Amelia out of nowhere.
Constance, just as shocked, rushed over to Amelia and Frederick, looking desperate. "I'm sorry, Dr. Davis, really sorry. We didn't mean to offend you. Please forgive us. We know we were wrong. Sorry, sorry."
Frederick frowned, feeling a wave of frustration at the scene.
Amelia frowned too. She had expected something like this but was still disgusted by their behavior.
