Chapter 286 Take Him to Davis Manor
Frederick's gloomy face was a stark contrast to the vibrant bouquet beside him.
He yanked at his tie, frustration bubbling up inside him.
"Mr. Hastings, maybe..." Felix started to speak for Amelia, but Frederick cut him off coldly.
"Drive. Now."
Felix hesitated, surprised. He wondered if his boss was going to give up.
Felix sighed. Seeing Frederick's hostility, he kept quiet and started the car.
As they passed Amelia's car, Felix saw her looking at her phone and honked.
Amelia was trying to call Dylan, but his phone was off.
She was about to put her phone away when she heard the horn. She looked up and saw Frederick's car passing by.
The rear window was closed, so she couldn't see if Frederick was inside.
Her expression turned subtle.
Frederick's face darkened at the sound of the horn.
Felix saw his angry face in the rearview mirror and said sheepishly, "Sorry, Mr. Hastings, my hand slipped."
Frederick shot him a cold look but said nothing.
Felix smiled awkwardly and focused on driving.
Frederick glanced out the window and saw Amelia's car hadn't followed.
He took a deep breath, feeling stifled.
Felix parked at Spring Villa, got out, and opened the door for Frederick.
Frederick stepped out and said coldly, "Throw the flowers away."
Felix nodded, "Okay," watching Frederick stride toward the house.
He grabbed the bouquet from the back seat and followed Frederick, asking, "Mr. Hastings, should I tell Ms. Davis not to come?"
Frederick glared at him, "Whatever."
Felix muttered, "I'll have the restaurant deliver your meal."
Frederick walked to the sofa, tore off his tie, and threw it aside, "No need."
He lay on the sofa, looking like he was determined to starve.
Felix didn't know what to say, so he stayed silent. As he was about to leave with the flowers, Amelia called.
He stopped, turned around, and said excitedly, "Mr. Hastings, it's Ms. Davis."
Frederick looked away, still gloomy.
Felix awkwardly answered and put it on speaker.
"Ms. Davis."
"Felix," Amelia said softly. She wanted to ask if they had been at the hospital but changed the topic.
"You haven't sent me tonight's menu."
Felix hesitated, looking at Frederick, unsure how to respond.
Frederick grabbed the phone and said, "You don't need to come."
Amelia was stunned for a moment, realizing Frederick had been in the car.
She pursed her lips and said softly, "Then I'll order from the restaurant and have it delivered to you."
Frederick snorted, "No need. I won't eat it even if it's delivered."
Amelia stayed silent.
Felix quickly chimed in, "Ms. Davis, don't worry. Mr. Hastings won't starve himself."
Amelia still didn't respond.
Seeing no reaction from her, Frederick hung up and tossed the phone back to Felix.
Felix caught it clumsily, glancing at Frederick's gloomy face. He stood cautiously to the side, trying to comfort him. "Mr. Hastings, Ms. Davis won't let you starve."
Frederick snapped, "Shut up."
Felix fell silent.
Amelia had already driven to the restaurant where she had ordered lunch for Frederick.
After the call ended, she stared at her phone for a few seconds. Just as she was about to put it down, Vincent called.
Amelia answered, "Dad."
Vincent's voice was heavy, "I heard from Rachel that something happened at the hospital, and someone even pulled a knife?"
Amelia took a moment, impressed with Rachel's speed on the info. She massaged her temples, answering gently, "Yes, the situation's under control. Don't worry; I'm okay."
Vincent let out a sigh, his voice laden with concern. "People these days are all about pushing things to the extreme. You gotta watch your back. Heard Frederick got hurt because of you. How bad is it?"
Silence hung between them as Vincent processed the information.
With a slight tension in her grip on the phone, Amelia assured, "I'm at the restaurant now, ordering food for him. I'll be back later. Don't wait up for me for dinner."
Vincent's tone turned more somber, "Injured folks need to watch what they eat. Restaurant meals can be heavy on seasoning. You should bring Frederick to Davis Manor for a meal. After all, he got hurt because of you; you can't neglect him."
Amelia thought for a moment and agreed, "Okay, I'll go to Spring Villa to pick him up."
Amelia drove to the gate of Spring Villa. Just as she was about to park and walk in, the security personnel opened the gate for her.
He said, "Ms. Davis, it's been a long time. Mr. Hastings instructed us to let you drive in directly."
The security personnel walked to her car with a smile, looking respectful.
Amelia was surprised to see the security personnel at the gate.
When she and Frederick divorced, she had dismissed all the security personnel at Spring Villa.
She hadn't expected Frederick to rehire them.
"Long time no see." Amelia greeted softly and drove into the yard of Spring Villa.
Inside the house, Felix saw Amelia park the car in the yard and then walk towards the house. He quickly said, "Mr. Hastings, Ms. Davis still cares about you."
Frederick snorted, not speaking, but his eyes couldn't help but glance out the floor-to-ceiling window. Seeing Amelia approaching the door, he sat up straight.
Amelia entered the house, changed her shoes, and saw Frederick sitting on the sofa, exuding an unhappy aura.
She looked at him, walked over, and said softly, "I'm here to take you to Davis Manor. Come with me."
Frederick looked up at her without speaking, his face full of complaints.
Felix reacted quickly, "I'll go upstairs and pack Mr. Hastings' luggage right away."
