Chapter 221 His Movements Were Indeed Swift

At their table were all well-known young figures in the business world. Someone quickly changed the topic, and the little incident was soon forgotten.

Amelia, not being from the business circle and the topic having no relation to her recent interest in artificial intelligence, found the conversation dull after a while.

She slowly stood up from her seat.

Frederick and Billy, who were beside her, both turned their attention to her.

Neither spoke, just watching her, silently asking where she was going.

Amelia noticed and softly said, "I'll go to the restroom for a moment. Please continue chatting."
Rachel slightly stood up and looked at her, asking, "Do you need me to go with you?"

Amelia shook her head. "No need. I'll be right back."

Rachel nodded slightly.

Amelia left the reception room, following signs to the restroom. Frederick had sat next to her just now, and she felt a slight sweat on her palms, which had dried into a sticky residue.

The restroom was at the end of the hallway.

Before she reached the restroom, a door in the hallway opened.

The bride, Angela, stepped out of the room, having changed out of her wedding dress.

Amber, also dressed in a white chiffon dress, followed Angela, helping with the train of her gown, clearly acting as the bridesmaid.

Angela's gaze paused on Amelia, her eyes slightly surprised, followed by a polite smile.
Amelia returned the smile, acknowledging the greeting.

Seeing Angela pause, Amber looked up and saw Amelia dressed in a purple suit, looking elegant and poised yet strikingly beautiful.

Amber couldn't help but furrow her brows. She didn't want to see Amelia but had to greet her. "Ms. Davis, what brings you to Angela's wedding?"

Seeing that Amber knew Amelia, Angela's eyes flickered.

Most of the guests at her wedding today were social media personalities, and the outer hall was almost full.

Actually, Angela didn't know many of those.

But her husband, Silas, had invested in an Internet company, so he generously sent invitations to almost all the well-known social media personalities.

However, some social media personalities wanted to experience a high-society wedding, so they came even without an invitation.

Patricia was busy hosting important guests with business ties to the Rodriguez Group and didn't bother with others, allowing many uninvited social media personalities to slip in.

Angela and Amber had a good relationship. Although Amber had spread many false rumors about her relationship with Frederick over the years, she had never managed to get Frederick to meet her. She had never accompanied him to any formal occasions.

So, in Angela's view, Amber hadn't even set foot in the high-society circle.

Earlier, when Patricia was greeting guests at the door, Angela saw her lead Frederick into the inner hall.

When Frederick walked past them, he didn't even glance at Amber.

This confirmed Angela's suspicions.

"Ms. Davis, are you involved in internet work? Would you be interested in joining our company?"

Though Angela didn't know Amelia, seeing her remarkable appearance made her think she could become quite influential in the future.

She had recently started an Internet company and was in need of talent.

If she could sign Amelia to her company, she would surely make a lot of money in the future.

Hearing this, Amelia politely declined. "Sorry, I'm not interested at the moment."

Angela felt a bit embarrassed by her rejection.

Amelia had no intention of continuing the conversation and, after a polite farewell, headed straight to the restroom.

Angela frowned and glanced at Amelia's departing figure.

Amber's lips curled slightly as she ambiguously said, "Angela, give it up. Ms. Davis has better connections."

Angela raised an eyebrow and quietly asked, "Are you saying she's a kept woman?"

Amber didn't answer Angela's question, only reminded her. "The wedding ceremony is about to start. We should hurry out. Silas will get impatient."

Angela reached a conclusion in her mind and nodded, striding purposefully towards the outer hall.

It wasn't uncommon for scions of wealthy families to maintain relationships with several women outside.
Given Amelia's looks, being a kept woman wouldn't be surprising.

Angela didn't dwell on it.

After using the restroom, Amelia returned to her original table.

For some reason, Frederick had moved to the seat she had been sitting in.

Seeing that he had left a seat for her next to Rachel, Amelia didn't mind and walked over to sit down.

Just as they sat down, the wedding ceremony outside began.

Virgil and Patricia were hosting guests in the inner hall.

The wedding outside was lively, with occasional screams and cheers reaching the inner hall.

In contrast, the inner hall felt more like an upper-class business meeting, with everyone calm, composed, and courteous.

After the wedding ceremony, it was time for the toasting.

Angela, accompanied by Amber, went to the changing room to change into her toasting dress.

Silas came to discuss the toasting arrangements with Virgil.

Silas's marriage to Angela had put the Rodriguez family in a bad light, and Virgil didn't approve of Angela as a daughter-in-law.

So, Virgil didn't plan to have Silas and Angela toast at each table in the inner hall.

"Just take care of the guests in the outer hall. Don't worry about the inner hall," Virgil said to Silas.

Silas's expression remained controlled, and he chuckled. "Are you kidding? The inner hall is full of important guests. Even if I don't have much sense, I know not to neglect them."

Virgil's face turned sullen, and he said through gritted teeth, "Do you even realize your own ignorance?"

Silas was infuriated by Virgil's remark and sneered. "I see you're using this opportunity to completely kick me out of the Rodriguez family's power center, right? Billy is your son, and so am I. You can't be so biased."

Seeing the father and son arguing in the inner hall, Patricia, despite her dislike for Silas, couldn't let outsiders see them as a joke.

She walked over to Silas and pulled him aside, saying, "Silas, say less. Toasting is a good thing. I'll arrange it for you. When Angela comes out, you can start from..."

Silas, always rebellious, used the alcohol to vent his dissatisfaction.

He also resented Patricia. Before she could finish, he harshly shook off her hand and shouted, "Whose mother are you? You're not my mother. If you really saw me as your son, you wouldn't have divided the guests into inner and outer halls today. If I can't come in to toast, then no one will drink."

As Silas spoke, he grabbed a red wine glass from Mr. Rodriguez's table and slammed it to the floor.

The wine inside spilled out, accidentally drenching Amelia, who was sitting at another table.

Rachel quickly grabbed some napkins, but before she could hand them over, Frederick was already wiping Amelia down.

Amelia raised an eyebrow, her eyes showing a hint of mockery.

He was quick to seize the opportunity to make an impression.
