Chapter 91 Frederick's Attention to Amelia

When Amber spoke, she reached out and took the basket from Laura's hand.

Laura didn't react and instinctively let go of the basket.

Amelia continued washing the vegetables.

Amber gave the basket to Amelia. "Ms. Davis, put them in the basket."

Amelia reached out and put the vegetables in the basket. She lowered her head and continued washing the vegetables. She remained calm, as if the Amber standing beside her was not her rival in love and had nothing to do with her.

Laura immediately reached out to take the basket from Amber's hand.

"You should rest. I heard that you haven't rested after the surgery. Young people like you should take care of your bodies more."

Amber tightened her grip on the basket but maintained a gentle smile.

"Mrs. Lakoff, I'm fine. You go sit down and rest. Ms. Davis and I can handle this simple task of washing vegetables. Don't worry about us, right, Ms. Davis?"

Amelia put the washed vegetables into the basket and calmly said, "I'm a little thirsty."

Frederick reached out to Amelia. "Let me take you to get some water."

It rained the night before, so the ground was wet and slippery.

Amelia placed her hand in Frederick's palm. With a slight squeeze of his hand, Amelia approached the house. There was some mud on her shoes.

Frederick bent down and used a small shovel to clean the mud off her shoes. Only then did he lead her into the house.

Standing next to Amber, Laura watched Frederick and Amelia.

Laura thought, 'When it comes to Amelia, Frederick's care and concern for her are genuine.'

The students started talking.

"Frederick cares a lot about Amelia."

"Even though they are divorced, Frederick still considers Amelia as his wife."

Amber tightly held the basket and felt angry.

Laura took the basket from her hand and sighed. "Give up. You and Frederick are incompatible."

Amber let go of the basket. After a moment, she whispered softly, " I had a relationship with such an outstanding man. I can't give up on him."

Her voice was so low that only she could hear it.

Laura didn't hear what Amber murmured, but Amber's demeanor told her that Amber would not give up.

Laura thought, 'Frederick cares about Amelia now. If Amber continues to pursue Frederick, she will suffer.'

Although Laura was displeased with Amber for accepting Brittany's money before, she still believed that Amber was fundamentally a good girl.

Laura only hoped that Amber would give up pursuing Frederick after experiencing failure.

Frederick took Amelia to the foyer and poured her a glass of water.

"We don't have mineral water here, so you'll have to make do with this. Bear with it."

Amelia reached out and took the glass of water, politely saying, "Thank you. I'm not picky."

Amelia was really thirsty, so she quickly drank up the water in the glass. She didn't mind.

Amelia used to do public service advertisements for General Hospital. At that time, she led a team to remote areas to promote public health measures.

The conditions there were much harsher. Amelia could only drink river water at the time, and the food she ate was often mixed with sand.

Frederick took the cup from her hand and asked, "Do you want more?"

Amelia shook her head.

Amber and Laura came back from the backyard.

Laura carried the basket into the kitchen and handed it over to the other students who were cooking.

Her students took the basket and told Laura to take a rest.

Amber had been abroad for three years, so she hadn't been able to attend Laura and Patrick's birthday parties during these years.

Laura went into the living room to talk with Amelia. Amber went into the kitchen to help with the cooking. Although Amber hadn't seen her classmates for three years, they were still familiar with her. Therefore, Amber quickly engaged in cheerful conversations with others in the kitchen.

If Amber and Frederick were together, others would benefit from it.

Although Frederick had attended Laura's birthday parties over the years, he always sat impassively next to Patrick and left after the meal.

Three years had passed. They hadn't gained any substantial benefits from Frederick.

If Amber and Frederick were together, they could take advantage of Amber's connections. In their eyes, Amber was gentle and kind. They believed that Amber would not refuse their requests.

But they were not familiar with Amelia.

Amelia was born into the Davis family, so they considered her to be noble and difficult to approach.

Laughter filled the kitchen. Amber's voice and laughter often echoed from within.

Laura couldn't help but glance at Amelia. However, Amelia calmly sat in her chair, quietly looking at her diagnosis report. Amelia was unaffected by Amber's laughter.

Patrick was conversing with Frederick in the yard.

Frederick had been keeping an eye on the living room. Noticing Frederick's lack of concentration, Patrick decided to end the conversation.

"That's all. You go on inside," he said.

Frederick nodded and went inside.

Dinner was ready. Everyone in the kitchen brought the meal to the table together.

Frederick sat on Amelia's left. Laura sat on her right.

Everyone purposely left the seat to the left of Frederick empty.

Therefore, when Amber brought out the seafood soup, she naturally sat on Frederick's left side.

Everyone was curious about Amelia. However, because they were not familiar with her, they only dared to secretly observe her.

Noticing others looking at her curiously, Amelia appeared friendly and showed no signs of displeasure.

Her gentleness was completely different from Amber's.

Amelia seemed so gentle that everyone subconsciously wanted to get close to her.

Laura poured water for Amelia and said softly, "You came a long way, but I only invited you for a casual meal. Please forgive me."

Amelia smiled, "Mrs. Lakoff, you don't have to apologize. Besides, we've known each other for many years. You and I have a close relationship."

Laura laughed and immediately said, "Yes, back then..."

Knowing that Laura might mention what happened when Emily was sick, Amber quickly interrupted Laura's words.

"Mr. Lakoff, I remember you used to have a habit of making wine. Today is Mrs. Lakoff's birthday, so would you like to bring out your wine for us to drink?"

Hearing Amber's words, Patrick gently slapped his head. "I forgot! I will go get the wine now."

Laura laughed, "Your memory is getting worse." The others laughed as they helped Patrick carry the wine.

Laura had forgotten what she was about to say.

With the help of the students, Patrick quickly brought out the wine. Seeing that Laura didn't continue the previous topic, Amber secretly relaxed.

Amber thought, 'Frederick is already doting on Amelia so much. If Frederick knew that Amelia had done a lot for Emily in the past and that Emily wanted Amelia to marry Frederick, I would truly have no place in Frederick's heart.'
