Chapter 295 She is Also Responsible For This

Amelia had thought she had hurt him. When she turned her head, she felt a chilly sensation on her lips, prompting her to jerk back in alarm.

Then she heard him gasp. Reacting swiftly, Amelia crouched down to staunch the renewed bleeding, focusing on the task at hand.

After stopping the bleeding, Amelia checked his wound. She had been separating the gauze that had adhered to the scab, before the kiss. Now, except for the part that had been accidentally pulled, which was particularly red, the rest was healing quite well.

Amelia sighed deeply.

Seeing her serious expression, Frederick reassured her. "Amelia, I'm fine. It doesn't hurt."

Amelia's face darkened slightly, and she looked at him coldly, "Mr. Hastings, if you keep that up, I'll have someone else take care of you."

Frederick instantly quieted down and stopped any other thoughts.

After cleaning the wound, Amelia rewrapped it with gauze.

She repeatedly advised, "Always remember that your right hand is injured. Consider it broken and don't use it. Change the gauze in five hours."

Frederick nodded seriously, "Then I'll wait for you to bring me lunch and change it."

Amelia agreed while tidying up the tools, "Okay."

Frederick stood up from the chair, "I'll head back to Hastings Group now."

Without looking up, Amelia replied, "Alright."

As she was about to put the medical kit back in place, she caught a glimpse of Frederick's handsome face approaching and used the toolbox to block him.

"Frederick!" She called out angrily.

This was a hospital, and people were coming and going outside the office.

Hearing her grit her teeth as she called his name, Frederick paused his hand movement, then reached out to remove a small dried leaf from Amelia's hair.

He muttered, "There's a leaf."

Amelia looked at the small leaf in his palm and was silent for a few seconds.

Frederick's deep eyes smiled, and he didn't say anything. He just looked at her, clearly guessing the fleeting thought in her mind.

He smiled, "Did you think I was going to kiss you?"

Amelia's cheeks flushed as she bit her lip lightly, shaking her head in denial.

"No!" she said flatly, gently pushing Frederick away. "Just hurry and head back to your office."

Frederick let out a soft chuckle at her reaction. "Got it," he replied before casting a meaningful gaze at Amelia and making his way out of her office.

Observing Frederick's departure, Amelia took a deep breath to compose herself, the lingering intensity of the moment prompting her to carefully replace the medical kit in its designated spot.

Earlier in the underground garage, Felix spotted Daniel and Selah before they vanished upstairs. Stepping out of the car, he set out to gather crucial information.

By the time Frederick descended and entered the car, Felix had already procured some key details, eager to share them. "Mr. Hastings, Selah took Ruth Gonzalez here for a pregnancy check."

Daniel and Ruth were involved, which meant Daniel had no chance with Amelia anymore.

Felix looked at the back seat through the rearview mirror and saw Frederick gently touching his lips, lost in thought, seemingly savoring something.

Seeing his expression, Felix couldn't help but think to himself, 'What a love-struck man!'

He clicked his tongue, then started the car and left General Hospital.

On the way back to Hastings Group, Frederick asked calmly, "Ruth is pregnant. Does the Gonzalez family know?"

Felix's eyes widened, and he quickly asked, "Do you need me to inform them?"

Frederick looked out the window, his tone casual, "We need to make sure it's true first."

After all, Daniel was Amelia's childhood friend. Frederick always remembered how attentive Daniel had been to Amelia when they were about to divorce. Only when a rival in love was married was he truly no threat.

Felix immediately caught on. "Got it, Mr. Hastings. I'll inform the Gonzalez family."

Frederick nodded slightly, still gazing out the window, his mood as bright as the weather outside. With Daniel potentially out of the picture, the only rival left was Dylan.

Thinking of Dylan, Frederick's eyes darkened. Dylan was even harder to deal with than Daniel.

Back at General Hospital, after a meeting with the treatment team, Amelia returned to her office and saw Selah sitting alone, waiting for her. She was holding some test reports, looking very serious.

Seeing Amelia return, Selah quickly stood up and grabbed her hand. "Amelia, I need your help with something."

Seeing her anxious expression, Amelia closed the door and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Selah sighed and took the test reports out of her bag, handing them to Amelia. Amelia glanced at them and saw the patient's name was Ruth. Ruth was pregnant.

"Mrs. Vanderbilt, there's nothing wrong with this report. If she's pregnant, she needs to rest and avoid strenuous activities for the first three months," Amelia said mildly.

After reading the report, Amelia handed it back to Selah, but Selah didn't take it. Instead, she asked softly, "Is there a way to do a DNA test?"

Amelia was silent for a few seconds. Was Selah suspecting that the baby in Ruth's womb wasn't Daniel's?

Selah explained softly, "Daniel said he doesn't remember if anything has happened between him and Ruth. This baby came too suddenly. If the baby is Daniel's, we'll accept it. If not..."

Listening to Selah, Amelia pursed her lips slightly. Daniel couldn't possibly be unsure about what had happened between him and Ruth. If Daniel had truly blacked out, he would have been incapacitated, devoid of any sexual desires. It seemed likely that Daniel was attempting to evade facing his own misstep by relaying this tale to Selah.

Amelia looked at Selah calmly and said softly, "Our hospital doesn't offer this service."

Selah's expression became very troubled. She complained, "Daniel said that once this matter is resolved, he'll marry Lucy. Lucy is still waiting for him in Fondaniss. How can we let her down? Amelia, you know Daniel. Ruth probably set him up!"

Mentioning Ruth's name, Selah's words were filled with resentment. Daniel had finally given up on Amelia, only to get into trouble with Ruth.

She continued, "Amelia, you know how devoted Daniel was to you. During that time, he frequently drank and went out with friends, and actually..."

Selah wanted to say that Amelia was partly responsible for this. But she quickly changed her tone and softly apologized, "Amelia, I don't mean to blame you. I just can't find any other way."
