Chapter 192 Can't Help but Swear

Early the next day, Amelia was getting ready for work when Daniel finally returned.

The clothes he was wearing were not the same as the ones he had worn at the bar last night.

This morning, when Daniel sobered up, he felt guilty for ignoring Amelia.

If it weren't for him, she wouldn't have come over at just a phone call.

Amelia's phone beeped, and she looked down to check it. It was a friend request.

She clicked on the profile. It was Ruth.

She was about to click exit, but her hand slipped and accidentally clicked accept.

Almost at the same time, a message from Ruth popped up.

Ruth: [Daniel's clothes are here with me. Do you need me to send someone to your place, the Davis Manor?]

There was a picture below the message, showing Daniel's clothes and pants scattered on the bed.

Amelia replied: [I'll ask Daniel about it.]

After sending that message, there was no reply from Ruth.

"Amelia." Daniel walked to the doorway and saw Amelia coming down from upstairs.

Amelia nodded lightly, with a smile on her face, and whispered, "Ruth wanted to know where she should send the clothes you left with her."

A look of embarrassment flashed across Daniel's face.

Amelia remained calm, quietly waiting for his answer.

Daniel explained, "Amelia, I got drunk last night. I..."

"I know. Daniel, you don't need to explain to me. But you shouldn’t drink too much. You’ll cause trouble and harm yourself. It would be better to drink less in the future," Amelia said.

Amelia's words left Daniel speechless.

Amelia said, "I have to go to work."

Amelia's smile remained as she walked past Daniel.

After taking a few steps, she stopped as if she suddenly remembered something and looked back at Daniel. "Daniel, is your house in the south suburbs almost ready for renovation?"

Amelia didn't say it explicitly, but Daniel understood the meaning in her words.

He replied, "It's already been renovated, and the furniture has been bought."

Amelia smiled gently. "When you move in, remember to invite us over for a meal."

Daniel nodded and said, "That's for sure."

Amelia said, "That's good. I'm off to the hospital."

After speaking, she walked away.

Daniel stood in place, watching her leave, feeling unusually heavy-hearted.

He knew that he had no chance with Amelia anymore.

General Hospital.

As soon as Amelia entered the office, she heard a painful wail.

The nurses standing there all seemed like they had headaches.

As Amelia passed by, one of the nurses called out to her. "Ms. Amelia, a patient came to the emergency department last night. He was assigned to you because the other doctors were busy, ."

Amelia nodded and said, "Okay. You can send me his information later."

After entering her office and changing into a white coat, she received the patient's information.

She opened the file. It said, Walter, male, 21 years old...

After getting a preliminary understanding of his information, Amelia went to Walter's ward.

She knocked on the door and entered the ward.

A nurse was giving Walter medication.

Walter was crying. The nurse seemed exasperated as she held the medicine.

Amelia walked over to inquire about the situation, but before she could speak, she saw Walter's face.

Wasn't this the man who had harassed her last night?

"I'll do it." Amelia took the medicine from the nurse's hand and applied it to Walter with a few rough movements.

Walter wasn't actually in much pain, but Amelia's actions were quick and heavy, so a sudden sharp pain hit him and almost made him pass out.

But after a few seconds, the pain gradually subsided.

"Feeling better, Mr. Cook?" Amelia asked in a calm tone.

Walter nodded weakly.

Amelia lifted his clothes to check the injuries and asked, "Are you sure it was just a simple fall?"

His coccyx and several ribs on his left side were broken, along with some other injuries. It didn't look like a simple fall. It seemed like he had been beaten.

As Amelia thought about his behavior last night, she realized he deserved a beating. His behavior had probably offended quite a few people.

Amelia said, "Do I need to report this for you?"

He could only lie on his right side, so he couldn't see Amelia's face.

Walter became somewhat angry when he heard Amelia's words. "I said it was just a fall. Just focus on treating me. Stop the nonsense."

Amelia raised an eyebrow and pressed on the bruised areas on Walter's skin.

Walter gasped in pain.

"Does it hurt?" Amelia asked.

Walter gritted his teeth and said, "Yes."

Amelia pressed on the other bruised areas a few more times, each time asking, "Does this hurt?

"What about here?"

Walter responded a few times, but soon became impatient. As he endured the pain, he turned around angrily. "Do you want to hurt me...?"

When Walter saw Amelia's face, his voice was angry, mixed with disbelief.

Amelia turned to the nurse beside her and said, "Take him away to inspect all the areas I just applied pressure to. It seems he was beaten, and he has injuries all over his body. The attacker was quite severe. There may be different degrees of internal damage. Check if his organs have been affected."

The nurse nodded and noted down everything.

Walter immediately became furious when he saw that Amelia had figured out that he had been beaten.

He said, "I told you, I fell by myself! No one in Kasfee would dare to hit me!"

"Don't get too agitated." Amelia casually let go of Walter's hospital gown, habitually tidying him up.

When Walter noticed Amelia's actions, his expression grew somewhat subtle.

He wanted to say something, but Amelia added, "I'm afraid there might be internal issues. If your blood vessels burst, the bleeding might be hard to control."

Walter suddenly lost his temper and lay silently on the bed.

After the tests, he couldn't have breakfast. Amelia casually asked, "Have you had breakfast?"

Walter stiffened slightly on the hospital bed, remaining silent for a while.

None of his so-called "friends" had come to care for him after he entered the hospital last night.

His parents had both remarried and had children after their divorce, so they didn't have time to see him when they found out he had been hospitalized.

Amelia was the first person to ask him if he had eaten.

When someone was sick, their mind was at its most fragile.

Walter's mood was complicated, and he gloomily replied, "No."

As he felt a bit ashamed of his behavior last night, he heard Amelia calmly say, "That's good. You can't have breakfast before some tests."

Walter had felt touched, but he couldn't help but curse. "Fuck!"

He shouldn't have been moved just now!
