Chapter 299 As Long as He Is Happy

Amelia glanced over at Line, who was busy admiring her diamond-studded nails.

Cynthia heard Line's words and looked flustered. They'd already noticed the difference between the Kingsley family and Ken when they first arrived. Now it was not only Ken's family; there were two family in alliance that they had to face.

Cynthia wanted to say something, but Harold grabbed her arm and stormed out of the suite.

Amelia followed them out.

As soon as she stepped into the elevator, the butler from the suite handed her a business card.

Amelia took it and read the name: Ken Angoulême, along with a string of numbers.

Harold snatched the card from her, his face darkening as he hurried downstairs.

He quickly dialed the number.

The call connected.

"Hello?"

Hearing Ken's voice, Harold thought about how they didn't even dare to breathe loudly in front of Line earlier, and he got furious.

"I'm Dylan's father. Put Dylan on the phone!"

"Okay," Ken replied, then there was a long silence before the call disconnected.

It was clear Dylan had seen Harold's number and didn't want to answer.

Harold was so angry he was gasping for breath.

Cynthia tried to calm him down, but he angrily pushed her hand away.

"This is the son you raised!!" he shouted before storming off.

Cynthia stood beside Amelia, silently crying.

Amelia took a deep breath, pulled out her phone, and dialed Ken's number. But it was rejected this time.

Cynthia grabbed Amelia's hand, pleading, "Ms. Davis, you're Dylan's friend. He tells you everything. You have to talk to him. I'm begging you."

Amelia sighed and said softly, "Mrs. Kingsley, this is something Dylan has to figure out for himself. We can't persuade him."

Cynthia looked desperate but had no solution.

Amelia comforted her for a while, then returned to her car and headed back to the hospital.

Dylan hadn't shown up for work, nor had he taken leave.

As soon as Amelia entered the hospital, Ralap asked about him. Amelia could only say he had some family matters to deal with.

Ralap was a bit upset, but knowing Dylan was Brittany's grandnephew, he couldn't say much. He just asked Amelia to tell Dylan to return to work as soon as he could.

Amelia nodded.

Before the end of the day, Dylan finally contacted her.

Seeing his call, Amelia answered almost immediately.

"Dylan!" Her voice was serious and disappointed. "Your parents have been looking for you since yesterday. Even if you don't want them to interfere, you should at least let them know you're safe."

Dylan quickly apologized. "Sorry, Amelia. I didn't think it through. I just wanted some alone time with Ken these past few days. Please tell my parents I'm safe and there's nothing to worry about."

Amelia took a deep breath and said sternly, "I'm not passing on the message. You need to call them yourself."

Dylan was silent for a moment, then chuckled softly. "Are you mad? Amelia, you're my best friend. You should be happy for me. I've been really happy these past few days. I've realized that as long as I'm with Ken, no matter what we do, I..."

Amelia cut him off. "Line knows about you and Ken. She's Ken's legal wife."

Dylan responded with a casual "Yeah" and said, "I know, but Ken doesn't love her. So what if she's his legal wife? Ken loves me."

Amelia just wanted Dylan to wake up. "No, in Fondaniss, same-sex marriage is legal. If he really loved you, he wouldn't have married Line. He's just using you as a plaything!"

Dylan was silent.

Amelia continued, "Dylan, deep down, you should know..."

Dylan interrupted her, his tone turning cold. "Amelia, you're my best friend. You shouldn't make me unhappy when I'm happy. Whether Ken loves me or not, I can feel it. I don't need you to remind me. I'm very sure he loves me. He came to Kasfee to find me."

Amelia's grip on her phone tightened. She wanted Dylan to stop being so irrational, but Dylan continued.

"Amelia, I won't talk to you anymore. I'll call Cynthia to let her know I'm safe. I might stay out for another three days before coming back. Please help me take a leave of absence from the hospital."

Dylan finished speaking and hung up.

Amelia looked at the phone screen, which showed the call had ended, and her expression became heavy.

In Fondaniss, Amelia had thought Dylan was just dependent on Ken. She hadn't expected him to be so irrational.

Amelia took a deep breath and sent a message to Cynthia.

Cynthia replied after a few minutes, saying that Dylan had called her and added at the end, [As long as he's happy.]

Seeing this message, Amelia felt a mix of emotions.

She didn't know how to respond to Cynthia's message, so she put her phone away, left the office, and went to pick up Frederick.

When Amelia arrived at Spring Villa, Frederick's car was already in the garage.

She waited in the car for a while, then messaged Frederick, saying she was in the yard.

After a short while, Frederick came out of the house.

He had changed into a stylish black casual sports outfit.

Frederick looked less sharp in his sportswear than usual. Although he still didn't seem very approachable, his intimidating presence had diminished somewhat.

Amelia rarely saw Frederick in casual sportswear. In her memory, Frederick mostly wore dark-colored suits. Seeing this different side of him, she couldn't help but take a few more glances.

When Frederick walked down the steps, she got out of the car, naturally walked around the front, and opened the passenger door.

As Frederick got into the car, he glanced at Amelia.

He smiled slightly, and his gaze toward Amelia softened.
