Chapter 255 It Seems He Doesn't Really Need Love Relationship

Amelia composed herself and stepped into the living room of the Davis Manor.

Vincent was still preparing the formula for Anna and testing the temperature.

As she passed by, Amelia reached out and ruffled Anna's little head. Anna gave her a big smile.

Vincent had already adjusted the temperature of the formula and handed the bottle to Anna.

Anna immediately shifted her gaze from Amelia, took the bottle with both hands, and put it in her mouth.

Amelia smiled silently, her depressed mood slightly improving. She walked to the sofa and lay down.

Anna quickly ran over with the bottle, lay down next to Amelia, and quietly sucked on the nipple with her little head resting against Amelia's.

Vincent tidied up the table a bit and then said to Amelia, "In a few days, it will be Mrs. Swift's Memorial Day."

Amelia nodded lightly. "Yes, I remember."

She had been abroad for three years. Now that she was back, she had to pay her respects.

Seeing her looking so down, Vincent knew that the conversation between Amelia and Frederick outside the Davis Manor had not gone well.

Vincent asked, "So, are you planning to go by yourself or take Anna with you?"

Anna, hearing Vincent mention her, immediately sat up from the sofa and looked at Amelia eagerly.

Annna sweetly cooed, "Mommy, take me with you."

Amelia reached out and ruffled her head. Amelia nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'll take you."

Vincent smiled helplessly and said, "While you were in Tideport City, Anna wasn't happy. She would start looking for you every night. I was planning to take her to Tideport City to find you. Luckily, Frederick came back early. He would come to the Davis Manor every day to keep her company. With someone she likes around, Anna wasn't that fussy."

"Anna is becoming more and more endearing," Vincent added.

Anna didn't cry loudly, but when she missed Amelia, her beautiful big eyes were full of tears. She looked at him pitifully, pouted, and said softly, "Grandpa Vincent, Anna misses Mommy."

If Frederick hadn't returned to Kasfee to keep her company, Vincent would have already booked a flight to Tideport City.

Amelia picked Anna up into her arms, pinched her little cheek, and said softly, "I won't leave Anna for so long next time."

Anna's beautiful eyes immediately curved into a smile. "No lying."

Amelia chuckled softly. "I won't lie to Anna."

The day before Mrs. Swift's memorial, Amelia took Anna to the Hastings Manor to visit Mrs. Hastings.

Mrs. Hastings was in much better spirits than before Amelia's business trip.

The Hastings Manor had also added many new servants, many of whom were unfamiliar to her.

Frederick probably arranged for so many people because he was worried about Brittany having more issues.

Mrs. Hastings still couldn't speak, but her mindset had improved a lot.

However, in her old age and sitting in a wheelchair for a long time, Mrs. Hastings looked particularly fragile.

Before she was hospitalized, she could still hold Anna, but now she couldn't even lift her.

When Frederick returned, he saw Amelia holding Brittany's hand and chatting.

Amelia's smiling face as she shared recent events with Brittany reminded Frederick of the early days of their marriage.

Back then, Amelia would cling to him, constantly sharing her troubles, joys, and sorrows.

But at that time, he never responded to Amelia.

Now, although Brittany couldn't speak, her kind eyes were fixed on Amelia, her emotions changing with Amelia's stories.

Frederick couldn't help but recall his past reactions.

Back then, he was even more silent than a mute.

He didn't even give Amelia a chance to interact.

Frederick's eyes darkened. He walked over to the single armchair and sat down, reaching out to take Anna from her arms.

Frederick could clearly feel Amelia's hand tighten when he tried to take the child, but she quickly let go.

Her first instinct was not to let him hold the child.

But for some reason, Amelia let go.

Maybe she didn't want to embarrass him in front of Brittany.

With this thought, Frederick felt a pang of bitterness.

During Amelia and Brittany's conversation, she didn't spare him a single glance.

When it was time to eat, Frederick took Anna to wash her hands.

Then he settled Anna next to him, walked out of the dining room, and looked at Amelia and Brittany.

Frederick said, "Dinner's ready."

Brittany, seeing Frederick's now humble and patient demeanor, smiled even more.

Frederick used never to call people to dinner. He would just sit at the dining table like a master, not moving an inch.

Brittany tugged Amelia's hand, signaling her to go to the dining room.

Amelia nodded, got up, and pushed Brittany to the sink to wash her hands.

Just as she was about to bend down to wipe Brittany's fingers, Frederick walked over and took the towel from her hand.

Frederick said lightly, "I'll do it."

Amelia didn't argue and let go.

After all, Frederick was usually very busy and probably didn't take care of Brittany often.

He was the grandson raised by Brittany. Although it was a small gesture, it would mean a lot to the elderly woman.

Frederick noticed that when his hand touched hers, she immediately pulled back, her face slightly stiff.

Amelia was resisting his approach.

Brittany, seeing Frederick's obvious disappointment, patted his shoulder.

Frederick had never faced much hardship or loss growing up, and his personality was extremely arrogant.

Now, repeatedly failing in his pursuit of Amelia had humbled his pride.

Frederick lowered his eyes. Seeing Brittany's smiling face, he felt a deep sense of sadness.

Before their divorce, there were many chances to avoid their separation. Still, Frederick never took any of them, not even considering it.

He felt like Brittany was mocking him.

Frederick felt powerless, his voice hoarse and unusually humble.

He muttered, "Grandma Brittany, I'm your real grandson. You should... help me."

But Frederick couldn't bring himself to say the last part.

He had always been strong-willed. After ignoring Brittany's advice back then, he couldn't now ask for her help.

He took a deep breath, silently reminding himself that emotions weren't that important.

After composing himself, Frederick pushed Brittany into the dining room.

After dinner, Amelia and Brittany returned to the sofa in the living room to chat.

Frederick went upstairs to handle some business, occasionally coming down to get things.

Amelia was focused on chatting with Brittany, occasionally keeping an eye on Anna.

Brittany noticed Frederick frequently moving around them and looked up at him.

Tom quickly said, "Mr. Hastings, are you looking for something? Do you need my help?"

Amelia just glanced at him briefly, then turned to ask Anna, "Anna, shall we go home?"

Frederick stiffened his expression, his mood heavy as if weighed down by a thousand pounds, making it hard to breathe.

He wasn't looking for anything. He just wanted to get Amelia's attention!

Frederick didn't need any love relationship, but if it was Amelia, he seemed to need it very much.
