Chapter 111 He Said He Is Anna's Uncle

After taking the medicine, Frederick handed the cup to Tom. Then, when he saw Brittany sitting worriedly on the side, he said to Tom, "Take my grandmother home first."

Tom nodded. "No problem. Felix will come over later."

Brittany's health hadn't been good for the past two years. Frederick didn't want her to stay in the hospital for too long, as it would consume her energy. Brittany understood Frederick's intention, so she didn't insist on staying in the hospital.

She agreed because she thought of Amelia, who was also at General Hospital and was Frederick's attending physician. So Frederick wouldn't have any problems.

When Brittany left, she passed by Amelia's office.

Since Amelia was an emergency department doctor, she hardly ever stayed in her office. She was either in the operating room or on a mission.

After Tom and Brittany left the hospital, Felix arrived at the ward.

Once Amelia finished her work, she went to Frederick's ward to check on him. Coincidentally, she saw him sitting on the bedside, focused and serious, signing a document.

He stared at the document with a heavy expression.

She stared at him for a few seconds. Her mood was a bit unsettled. But quickly, she regained control of her emotions. She lightly knocked on the door of the ward.

Frederick and Felix both looked toward the entrance of the ward.

Felix saw Amelia and immediately took the documents from Frederick's hand. Afterward, he conscientiously left the ward.

Amelia walked into the ward. She first picked up Frederick's thermometer and calmly spoke.

"During this time, try not to eat any heavily seasoned food. You must stop drinking coffee in the morning."

Frederick was accustomed to having a cup of coffee in the morning.

"You should eat more stomach-friendly fruits. I'll make a list for Felix to buy for you."

Frederick gazed silently at Amelia's gentle face. Then, he coldly chuckled.

"Ms. Davis, you have a good memory. Since you remember that I like to drink coffee, don't you remember that I don't like to eat fruits?"

Amelia's expression didn't change at all. She calmly looked back at Frederick.

"With your current condition, even if you don't like to eat fruits, you still have to eat them. Without my sign off, you won't be able to leave the hospital."

Frederick had a cold expression. "I can replace the attending physician at any time."

Amelia was taken aback for a moment. When she looked at Frederick again, there was a slight smile on her face.

"It is the patient's right to do so. If you feel that I am not providing good medical care, you can replace me at any time."

Her voice was calm. After saying this, she gave a few more reminders about the things he needed to pay attention to in his diet.

Frederick felt annoyed, so he chose to ignore Amelia and picked up his phone.

He clicked into the group chat with him and his close friends. He saw Scott posting a screenshot of Sebastian on Instagram, where Sebastian was holding Amelia's daughter.

The child was particularly cooperative. She had a sweet smile.

Scott: [Sebastian, is this Amelia and Daniel's daughter? She looks so much like Amelia.]

Frederick couldn't help but click on the photo for a glance. Then, he pulled a face of annoyance. He inexplicably clicked into Sebastian's Instagram again. Sure enough, he didn't see the photo that Scott had captured.

He immediately wore a dark expression.

Frederick: [You blocked me on Instagram?]

Sebastian first sent a scratching head emoji, then he replied.

Sebastian: [I didn't want to hurt your feelings, you know?]

Frederick coldly put down his phone. Amelia saw that his expression wasn't too good and thought he didn't want to listen to her advice.

She silently glanced at him, then shifted her gaze away. She thought since Frederick was going to change attending physicians anyway, she held back her words.

"Mr. Hastings, take care and rest well."

She then turned around to leave.

Frederick watched her figure and fell silent for several seconds. Then, as she was about to leave the room, he asked in a deep voice, "Amelia, how old is your child with Daniel?"

Upon hearing Frederick's words, Amelia stopped in her tracks. She turned her head to look at him.

She felt a little sad, as if her heart had been stabbed. She and Daniel had never crossed any boundaries.

She thought that even if Frederick misunderstood the relationship between her and Daniel, he would still have a slight expectation that the child was his. Perhaps it was because he really didn't love her, so he wouldn't have any expectations at all.

Seeing Amelia looking at him with complicated emotions, Frederick furrowed his brows involuntarily. "Don't misunderstand. After all, I am your child's uncle. Since she just returned to the country, as her uncle, I should buy her a gift."

When Amelia heard these words from Frederick, she couldn't help but laugh in anger.

After collecting herself, she smiled and said, "Then let me thank you as her uncle in advance."

Frederick's face darkened.

Amelia left the hospital room.

When Felix returned from outside, he saw Frederick sitting on the bed with a cold expression on his face. Obviously, their interaction had not been pleasant.

Frederick caught sight of Felix coming back and, with a cold expression, said in a deep voice, "Get me a new attending physician."

Upon hearing this, Felix hesitated for a moment. Just as he was about to speak, Frederick rubbed his temples and said, "Forget it."

"Oh, so you're not going to change anymore?" Felix asked in return.

Frederick immediately gave him a cold glance. Felix awkwardly smiled and then took the documents before leaving.

"I'll go back to Hastings Manor to bring you some food," Felix said.

Upon hearing this, Frederick lay back on the bed. "Amelia said I can't eat today."

He could only have liquid food and fruits. He had a check-up tomorrow.

"Get me some fruits," Frederick said.

A faint shock flashed on Felix's face when he heard this. As he looked at Frederick's seemingly indifferent appearance, he couldn't help but secretly criticize, 'Clearly, you can't let go of her in your heart, yet you still pretend like you don't care.'

If he had taken action sooner, would Amelia and Daniel have had a child?

"Alright, I'll go buy them for you," Felix responded respectfully before leaving the room.

After he left, the room fell into silence.

After a while, Frederick's phone buzzed frantically.

Clearly, it was a message from Sebastian.

Frederick's face darkened as he picked up his phone. He opened the message sent by Sebastian.

Sebastian: [From what I know, Daniel has returned to Fondaniss. The Vanderbilt family has encountered some business problems there, so he can't come back to Kasfee for now.]

Frederick frowned upon reading the message. What did this have to do with him?

He typed a response on his phone and sent it back.

Frederick: [Are you asking me to help the Vanderbilt family with their business?]

Sebastian: [Of course not. Didn't Daniel take Amelia away from you before? Now you have a chance to take her back, and even gain a daughter for free. This is a great deal.]

Frederick's expression grew even more unpleasant. Sebastian waited anxiously for Frederick's reply, but as time passed, he began to consider putting his phone away. Suddenly, his phone buzzed.

Sebastian quickly opened the message.

Frederick had sent a reply.

Frederick: [Just letting you know that I don't think we should meet for a while.]

Though it was just a simple sentence, Sebastian could already imagine Frederick's angry and resentful face in his mind.
