Chapter 338 Anna Calls Him Daddy
Anna noticed Frederick wasn't playing with her and was just sitting there, lost in thought. She tugged on his hand.
"Uncle Frederick, why aren't you playing with the blocks?" she asked innocently, not realizing how much it hurt him every time she called him "Uncle Frederick."
Amelia saw Frederick's subtle reaction and couldn't help but smile, amused.
Like mother, like daughter.
Vincent, seeing that Frederick and Anna had just reunited today, didn't want to interrupt. "You're not going to the hospital today, right? I'll go prepare lunch," he said softly.
Amelia replied quietly, "I only took a half-day off. I need to go back this afternoon."
Vincent quickly responded, "I'll make lunch early so you can eat and rest a bit before heading back."
As he walked to the kitchen, Amelia followed. "I'll help."
Vincent nodded.
When they finished preparing lunch and came out, Frederick was lying on the floor, taking pictures of Anna from different angles.
Amelia was a bit surprised and cleared her throat softly. "Lunch is ready."
Frederick heard her but didn't get up right away. "Just a moment," he replied.
Vincent came out with the soup and dishes, saw the scene, and chuckled. "I have a lot of photos of Anna on my phone. I'll send them to you later," he said to Frederick.
"Sure," Frederick responded quickly.
As he was about to put his phone away, Anna crawled over and grabbed it. "I want to see."
Seeing her curiosity, Frederick unlocked his phone.
"This is Mommy," Anna said, laughing and pointing at the wallpaper, which was a picture of Amelia.
Amelia rarely posted on Instagram and seldom took selfies. Frederick had scoured her Instagram but couldn't find a single photo. The last time he visited the Davis Manor, he saw a photo of Amelia and Rachel in Vincent's study and secretly took a picture to use as his wallpaper.
Frederick put his finger to his lips, signaling for silence, and then opened the album to show Anna the photos he had just taken of her.
Anna was pleased with Frederick's photography skills. After looking at the photos, she nodded and then got up, walking barefoot toward the dining room.
Seeing this, Frederick quickly picked her up.
Anna, initially startled, found it fun. She kicked her little legs and looked back at Frederick, saying, "Uncle Frederick, do it again."
Frederick smiled and put her down gently. "Put on your shoes, and I'll play with you again."
Anna nodded obediently, and Frederick put her down.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, she started running toward the kitchen. Frederick caught up in two steps and picked her up to put on her shoes.
Amelia and Vincent, hearing Anna's cheerful laughter from the dining room, exchanged glances and smiled.
After putting on Anna's shoes, Frederick carried her to the sink to wash her hands.
Amelia came over to help, rolling up Anna's sleeves and bending down to wash her hands.
Frederick looked down at Amelia, who was squeezed next to him, feeling immensely satisfied and wishing time could stop at that moment.
After Amelia dried Anna's hands, she reached out to take her.
Frederick held on tightly, not wanting to let go. Amelia looked up and said, "Aren't you going to wash your hands?"
Frederick quickly let go.
Amelia took Anna to the dining room and placed her in her high chair.
During the meal, Frederick was almost entirely focused on taking care of her.
Seeing Frederick's fatherly demeanor, Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly. She hadn't expected him to be so doting.
After lunch, Amelia sat on the sofa to rest while Frederick played with Anna.
Amelia glanced at the time and said softly to Vincent, "Dad, I need to go to the hospital."
Frederick stood up with Anna almost simultaneously. "We'll take you."
Amelia said softly, "Anna will need to nap soon."
Anna quickly shook her head. "I won't sleep."
Amelia smiled helplessly and walked to the foyer. "Do as you please."
With that, Frederick carried Anna over.
Amelia changed her shoes and waited at the door. Then she thought of something and said to Susan, "Susan, come with us. He doesn't often take care of children, so I'm a bit worried."
Frederick paused while putting on his shoes and looked up at Amelia.
Amelia's expression was calm, her gaze steady. She didn't trust Frederick.
Frederick felt a bit down but still agreed. "Okay."
Anna sat on a small stool by the door, changing her shoes by herself.
Frederick bent down to help her fasten the straps, then carried her and followed Amelia.
Felix, seeing them come out, quickly opened the car door.
He couldn't help but glance at them a few more times. They were a very attractive family.
As Amelia bent down to get into the car, she softly thanked Felix.
Felix, hearing this, became even more respectful. Amelia had always been gentle and polite to him.
After Frederick got into the car with Anna, Felix closed the door.
Once in the car, Anna sat quietly between Amelia and Frederick, not as lively as at home.
Before they even reached General Hospital, Anna, who had claimed she wouldn't sleep, started nodding off.
Seeing this, Frederick picked her up to make her more comfortable.
Anna opened her eyes and saw Frederick. In a soft, sweet voice, she called out, "Daddy."
Hearing Anna, Frederick stiffened. It felt like fireworks going off in his heart.
"Did you hear that?" Frederick looked at Amelia, eyes filled with joy.
Amelia glanced at Frederick's delighted expression and replied calmly, "I didn't hear anything."
Frederick was momentarily taken aback. He looked down at the sleeping Anna, hoping she'd call out again, but she had already found a comfortable position and fallen asleep.
