Chapter 323 Will Never Issue a Letter of Understanding

Rachel turned to Amelia. "Why aren't you resting in your room?" she asked quietly.

Amelia snapped out of her daze. "I was worried about you, so I came to check."

Rachel fixed her wind-tousled hair. "Worry about yourself first. Why did you do something so dangerous?"

Amelia bit her lip, looking guilty. She had heard Ruth's anonymous report and acted impulsively to stop it, not considering Ruth's revenge motives.

Seeing Amelia's guilt, Rachel's stern look softened a bit, but she still warned, "If we weren't here, you could've died in the Sapphire Sea. Associating with the wrong people can bring disaster."

Amelia couldn't meet Rachel's eyes.

Frederick, seeing Amelia being scolded, stepped in. "It's not entirely her fault."

Rachel snorted. "Then whose fault is it, Mr. Hastings?"

Frederick stayed calm. "I didn't arrange things properly; it's my fault."

Amelia looked up at Frederick, surprised.

Rachel glanced at him coldly but didn't push further with Charles present. She turned to Amelia, her tone softening. "Go back to the yacht's room and rest. It's handled."

Amelia glanced at the other yacht, knowing the people sharing the same yacht with them now shouldn't be involved with those on Todd's. She worried about Nicole but didn't dare ask with Rachel still upset.

Rachel noticed and added, "Todd hasn't been drinking. He'll take care of his cousin."

Relieved, Amelia followed Rachel's instructions.

Rachel watched her go, then turned to Charles. "Mr. Wright, sorry for the trouble tonight."

Earlier, she and Charles had spent time on Todd's yacht. The living room in the yacht they were currently in was full of Kasfee's elite, and Rachel felt guilty for taking up Charles' time.

Charles smiled politely. "Is your foot okay?"

Rachel was puzzled, then shook her head. "It's fine."

When the waves rose earlier, she was in high heels, and Charles probably thought she twisted her ankle.

Charles nodded and smiled. "Ms. Davis, you're the first woman I've seen jump from a boat in high heels."

Rachel met Charles' interested gaze behind his glasses, her heart tightening. "Sorry to have made a spectacle of myself, Mr. Wright."

Charles chuckled, his gaze shifting to Todd's yacht.

The investigators and maritime rescue team arrived, sirens blaring across the calm sea.

Charles glanced around before turning to Rachel. "We should head back. Let's return to the living room."

Rachel nodded and followed him inside.

Everyone in the living room was curious about the commotion outside, but since neither Charles nor Rachel mentioned it, no one dared to ask. Their calm demeanor suggested the situation was under control.

The main focus was the upcoming economic exchange between Yaradia and Kasfee. Once Charles brought it up, everyone quickly shifted their attention, ignoring the sirens outside.

Meanwhile, Amelia, exhausted from her ordeal and lack of sleep, was in a room with Frederick gently drying her damp hair. Seeing her sleepy, he said softly, "Rest on me for a while. I'll wake you when we arrive."

He adjusted her hair, letting her rest her head on his lap. Just as Amelia closed her eyes, the sirens startled her awake. She looked at Frederick nervously.

Frederick gently covered her eyes with his hand. "Don't worry, everything's taken care of," he said, his voice soothing her anxieties.

Amelia felt a knot of unease in her stomach. Todd and Nicole had met Jesse and Ruth through her, and if their futures were ruined because of Ruth, she'd be consumed by guilt.

Frederick continued to dry her hair gently. "Felix has blocked the media at the dock and leaked some information. Todd was sober, so even if they tested him, nothing would be found."

Amelia felt a flicker of worry. "The Gonzalez family will likely try everything to plead with you," Frederick said, meeting her gaze.

Amelia frowned, knowing she'd be at the center of this storm. Ruth's miscarriage had nothing to do with them, but she wanted revenge. Ruth's malicious intent made it impossible for Amelia to issue a letter of forgiveness.

If Ruth had succeeded, even the Davis Group might have been affected. Rachel had worked hard to protect the Group, and Amelia couldn't let her actions harm it.

Taking a deep breath, Amelia looked at Frederick seriously. "No matter who comes to plead, I won't issue a letter of forgiveness."

Frederick gently smoothed her hair. "Even if you did, your sister wouldn't let it reach the Gonzalez family. Neither would I."

Can't Win Her Back
