Chapter 135 His Stomach Couldn't Handle It

Amelia sat quietly in the back seat, not saying a word. She noticed that Tina had stopped the car and looked out the window with a hint of confusion in her eyes.

Tina had parked the car in front of the Seaside Hotel.

Amelia paused, then turned her gaze back to Tina.

"Why are we here?"

Upon hearing this, Tina immediately explained, "After the annual awards ceremony, everyone gathers at the Seaside Hotel for dinner. The dinner expenses are covered by the Hastings Group. I thought you knew that."

Amelia had no idea that everyone would gather for dinner after the awards ceremony.

She had only prepared for her speech on stage, so she was unaware of this arrangement.

" Do you need me to take you back?" Tina asked cautiously through the rearview mirror.

Seeing a few of her seniors entering the hotel, Amelia thought about the medical topics she hadn't finished discussing earlier. She also wanted to chat with them, so she shook her head and said, "Since we're here, I'll have dinner before leaving."

Tina nodded. Only after Amelia got out of the car did she park it in a parking spot.

While waiting for Tina, a senior figure from the medical field got out of a car. After seeing Amelia, he immediately walked toward her with a smile.

"Amelia, I'm very interested in the point you raised earlier. Let's discuss it in detail at the dinner table. I also plan to talk to my students about it later."

Amelia politely nodded and followed the senior figure inside the restaurant, chatting along the way.

She naturally sat at a table with her colleagues.

When Frederick received the news and arrived at the restaurant, he saw Amelia sitting in a chair surrounded by several middle-aged men, with a few young men standing behind her. The admiration and adoration in their eyes toward Amelia was particularly glaring to Frederick.

Frederick's expression turned cold instantly.

Paul, after seeing the people around Amelia, whispered, "The person on Ms. Davis's left is the second heir of the BrightStar Health Group. And on her right is Silas from Sunrise General Hospital. His family has been in the medical field for generations. You could say that healthcare is their family business."

Frederick furrowed his brows slightly and glanced at Paul, coldly asking, "How do you know so much?"

Paul awkwardly smiled and whispered, "These two just asked our staff about your relationship with Ms. Davis. And they were inquiring about Ms. Davis's family background."

Upon hearing this, Frederick's face became sullen even more.

He looked in the direction where Amelia was. Looking at her chatting happily with them and even exchanging contact information, he felt both annoyed and unhappy.

He walked past the table where Amelia was seated with an expressionless face.

Just then, an elderly figure next to Amelia asked her, "It seems like Silas is very interested in Ms. Davis. Let me be bold and ask on Silas's behalf about your relationship status. Amelia. Do you have a boyfriend or are you married?"

Amelia felt a bit embarrassed at the direct question she had never been asked before.

She smiled and, looking in the direction Frederick had walked, said, "I'm currently single."

As soon as she said this, a blush appeared on Silas's face. The other seniors beside him joked. "It seems like Silas has a good chance."

"Silas and Ms. Amelia are both rising stars in the Kasfee medical community. If you two get together, it would be a perfect match."

Amelia maintained a polite smile, while Silas blushed even more due to the teasing.

Amber saw Frederick's car arrive at the garage and quickly got out to follow him.

She almost entered the restaurant right after Frederick did. Seeing Frederick coldly taking his seat at the main table, she naturally sat down beside him, trying to get closer to him.

"Frederick..."

Before she could say more, Paul walked over with a respectful and polite attitude. "I'm sorry. Amber. Your seat is arranged over at the media company's area."

Amber felt embarrassed upon hearing this.

This was her second time attending the awards ceremony and receiving an award. Last year, just like this year, she managed to sit at the main table thanks to the subtle relationship between her and Frederick. Although Frederick didn't pay much attention to her back then, he didn't embarrass her like he did today.

Several guests were already seated at the main table.

Paul's tone was humble and polite, making it hard for Amber to find an excuse to stay there.

She bit her lip lightly and stood up from her seat with an awkward smile. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize. I thought we could choose where to sit."

Frederick remained silent.

The other leaders around him didn't say anything either. Amber's earlier words didn't ease the tension but rather made her seem ill-mannered.

The main table was not a place where just anyone could sit.

Seeing that no one was coming to her rescue, Amber's smile almost faltered. But she quickly regained her composure.

Paul immediately instructed the staff to escort Amber back to her designated seat. After all, if she continued to stay there, it wouldn't just be awkward for her.

Amber left the main table and sat in the far corner. From her position, she couldn't even see Frederick's figure.

Amber bit her lip internally, feeling dissatisfied. But she had no choice but to stay put.

Most of the seats closer to the main table were already taken, and she wasn't very familiar with the other guests. Sitting there without an invitation would only make things awkward.

Taking a deep breath, Amber had to settle down. From her spot, she could see where Amelia was seated.

Amelia was conversing with her colleagues, with an elderly female doctor on her left and a professor with thinning hair on her right.

Amelia was being well taken care of among them, attracting attention from those around her, most of whom looked at her with admiration.

Amber lightly bit her lip.

The calm and confident demeanor that Amelia exuded, along with her natural self-assurance, were qualities that Amber couldn't imitate no matter how hard she tried. A hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes as she sat quietly in the corner.

The dinner began.

Amelia hardly needed to serve herself. Her two senior colleagues took care of that for her, showing her special attention.

She thanked them with a smile but felt a bit uneasy, as if someone was watching her. She looked up, unable to locate the source of that feeling, and instinctively glanced toward Frederick.

She saw Frederick clinking glasses with the leaders at his table.

After the toast, they all downed their drinks.

Looking at this, Amelia couldn't help but furrow her brows. Drinking like that was bad for his stomach.
