Chapter 377 They Are Arguing in the Back Hall

Line's face was beaming with a bright smile, so sweet that it was impossible to associate her with the person who had threatened her in the hotel that day.

Amelia stood up from the sofa after putting her shoes back on.

Ken wore a gentle smile on his face as he glanced at Amelia and Rachel, introducing them to Line with warmth and cordiality.

Line wore a sweet smile, hugged Rachel, and then lightly embraced Amelia.

Amelia had no common topics with them, so she quietly listened to their conversation the entire time.

Ken and Frederick had met a few times before, so their conversation flowed without any sense of distance.

Line remained by Ken's side, their close and affectionate bond apparent through their intimate gestures and loving demeanor.

Ken's tenderness toward Line was apparent in the small details, something that would be hard to fake if it were just a marriage of convenience.

Amelia couldn't help but take a deep breath. She had seen how Ken took care of Dylan, and now, seeing Ken's meticulous care transferred to Line, she couldn't help but start worrying about Dylan.

Was Ken really just using Line without any feelings at all? If that were the case, he was quite the actor. Regardless of the situation, it didn't seem very favorable for Dylan.

Ken also noticed that Amelia was unusually quiet. After a brief chat with Frederick and Rachel, he left with Line.

Amelia sat quietly on the sofa, her expression slightly serious. Felix had already brought Amelia's shoes over. Frederick took the shoebox from Felix and helped Amelia put them on.

Rachel glanced at the absent-minded Amelia and said calmly, "In this world, the most solid relationships are those based on interests."

The Angoulême family and Line's Made family had become strategic partners, forging a closer relationship than ever before. At least for the next few decades, there would be no changes. So, at this time, the Angoulême family would not allow Ken and Line to divorce.

Even if Line knew about Dylan's existence, she wouldn't divorce Ken.

People like them were instilled from a young age with the idea that their marriage partners should be well-matched. Even if they had moments of rebellion, it was just a fleeting novelty.

Once the novelty wore off, they would ultimately select partners who offered tangible benefits to themselves and their respective families.

"So even if you're worried, it's useless. He has to find his way out," Rachel said softly, then walked toward the crowd.

Amelia took a deep breath, looking in the direction of Ken and Line, her expression heavy.

Frederick reached out to block Amelia's view. Although he knew there was nothing between Amelia and Ken, seeing her staring at another man still stirred his possessiveness.

Amelia withdrew her gaze and looked at Frederick in confusion.

Frederick put his arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace. He muttered unhappily, "I'm right here, and you're staring at another man. Is that appropriate?"

Hearing Frederick's jealous words, Amelia moved her lips, about to speak, but then remembered that the fewer people knew about Dylan and Ken's relationship, the better.

She took a slight breath and explained softly, "I was just looking at Line."

Frederick raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing Amelia. He said in a low voice, "Dylan's absence from work during that time was because of him, wasn't it? Did you think you could hide it from me?"

Amelia paused, a look of surprise flashing in her eyes as she looked at Frederick in disbelief, taking a deep breath. "You know?"

Frederick responded with a faint "Mm." He had only found out recently. He had recently faced many setbacks with Amelia, and during his most difficult times, learning about Ken and Dylan's relationship had given him renewed hope.

Amelia looked shocked. She asked, "When did you find out?"

She had never mentioned Dylan and Ken's situation in front of Frederick.

Frederick replied calmly, "Before I knew Anna's identity."

Amelia's expression immediately became awkward. She lowered her head to adjust her clothes, trying to hide her guilt.

Frederick looked down at her, seeing her embarrassed expression, clearly unwilling to bring up the matter.

Frederick chuckled softly and planted a kiss on her flushed ear. Amelia immediately covered her ear, pinched Frederick's lips, and glared at him. She whispered. "Not allowed, understand?"

Frederick's lips were pinched into a duckbill shape by Amelia.

Seeing that he didn't respond, Amelia didn't let go. She repeated. "Did you hear me?"

Frederick nodded sullenly, "I heard." His voice was particularly muffled when he answered.

Satisfied with the answer, Amelia let go of her hand, her lips curling into a slight smile.

Frederick looked at her with a very aggrieved expression, and Amelia couldn't help but laugh.

Felix quickly walked over to Amelia and Frederick, his countenance weighed down with concern. Anxiously, he relayed the news, "Ms. Rachel Davis and Mr. Kingsley are having a heated argument in the back hallway."

Hearing this, Amelia frowned and followed Felix to the back hall.

Most of the people attending the exchange meeting were in the front hall, and the back hall was almost empty.

Rachel had gone to the restroom and was grabbed by Sebastian in the side hall.

"Rachel, let's go to the back hall to talk," he said firmly.

When Sebastian grabbed Rachel's hand, others were watching.

Rachel gave Sebastian a cold look and shook his hand off, but Sebastian refused to let go.

Her eyes darkened, and she looked at him coldly. "Let go of me."

Sebastian didn't comply.

Several people who had business dealings with Sebastian and knew Rachel quickly tried to mediate. "Ms. Davis, why don't you have a good talk with Mr. Kingsley? You two dated for so many years, and suddenly breaking up, everyone feels sorry for you. Even if you don't want to reconcile, we're all from Kasfee, and we don't want to see your families' relationship become so strained. Why not give Mr. Kingsley a chance to explain?"

Sebastian looked at Rachel with a burning gaze, his voice low and hoarse, with a hint of pleading. "Rachel, even death row inmates have the right to a lawyer to defend them."

The others chimed in. "Yes, yes."

Rachel looked at Sebastian's pleading expression, her eyes cold.

She didn't want her past relationship to be exposed in front of these people and become a topic of gossip, so she said coldly, "Let's talk in the back hall."

Hope immediately lit up in Sebastian's eyes, and he quickly nodded. "Okay."

Rachel gave him a cold glance, walked past him, and headed to the back hall. She wanted to see what kind of excuse Sebastian would come up with this time.

Charles stood not far away, watching the two walk toward the back hall, his eyes deepening.
