Chapter 125 He Couldn't Win Over Amelia
For some reason, the urge to see Amelia suddenly overwhelmed Frederick's mind.
"Go to Davis Manor," Frederick instructed coldly.
Upon hearing this, Felix immediately started the car and headed toward Davis Manor. He sped up along the way, and when they arrived at the gate of Davis Manor, they could already see Amelia standing there.
She held Anna's hand while a black business car slowly came to a stop in front of them. Daniel got out of the car and walked straight toward them.
He first opened his arms and embraced Amelia, then hugged Anna as well.
Felix slowed down the car and glanced at the rearview mirror before softly reminding, "Mr. Hastings."
Frederick naturally noticed the scene. His face turned grim, and his deep eyes were filled with cold hostility.
"Turn around and go to Maples Club," he said in a low voice, without a trace of hesitation.
Felix also understood the situation. Even if Frederick went over, it would only add to the awkwardness. So, Felix found a suitable spot to turn the car around.
Amelia had lived in Fondaniss for three years and had become accustomed to hugging friends. After all, in Fondaniss, hugging was as common a social gesture as shaking hands. After Daniel let go of Anna, he took out gifts for them from the trunk.
Amelia glanced and saw a car turning around in the distance. Because it was dark, Amelia couldn't see the other car's license plate.
The only people who drove this way were members of the Davis family, and further ahead was the address of the Greer family.
When she came back, Amelia saw members of the Greer family entertaining guests and thought that someone must have taken a wrong turn.
Daniel placed the gift in Amelia's hands and noticed her staring into the distance, so he followed her gaze.
Since Frederick's car had already left, Daniel didn't see anything, and Amelia turned her gaze back, looking at the beautifully wrapped dress in her hands, raising her eyebrows.
"Did you happen to find that book?"
Daniel heard Amelia's voice and also redirected his gaze, smiling. "I went to the library yesterday and happened to come across it."
His tone was casual, but Amelia knew he must have put a lot of effort into finding that book.
After all, when she was in Fondaniss, she couldn't find it in several libraries. She didn't expect Daniel to remember this.
The medical book was already out of print and contained detailed medical knowledge. Amelia had always wanted to get her hands on it. Everyone she knew who had the book was unwilling to sell it, only wanting to keep it as a treasure.
"You're too thoughtful."
Daniel had always been particularly attentive to Amelia and Anna. Amelia couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
"Did you have a blind date arranged with Selah's match this time?" Her voice was gentle, as if talking about daily life. "Selah showed me the girl's photo, she's very beautiful, and Selah said she has a good personality. You should try to get to know her."
Daniel handed Anna her gift and paused for a moment after hearing Amelia's words.
"I'll try to get to know her when I return to Fondaniss the day after tomorrow. I'm only staying here for a couple of days this time."
Amelia nodded slightly upon hearing this.
After receiving Daniel's gift, Anna sweetly thanked him. "Thank you, Uncle Daniel."
Daniel reached out and patted Anna's head. "You're welcome."
After saying that, he held Anna's hand and started walking toward the house. However, Anna was impatient and wanted to open the gift right away. When she unwrapped the gift, she found a music box and smiled happily.
"Uncle Daniel, the gift you gave me is the same as the one from another uncle."
Daniel looked at Anna with a puzzled expression after hearing her words.
"Who is the other uncle?" he asked gently.
Anna didn't know Frederick's name and couldn't answer for a moment. She looked up at Amelia for help. "Mommy."
Amelia pursed her lips and smiled faintly. "The other Uncle is Frederick."
Daniel paused. "Has he met Anna?"
Amelia nodded. "Yes, he has."
Daniel fell silent. Since Anna calls Frederick Uncle, it means they haven't recognized each other yet.
Anna urgently wanted to put the music boxes given to her by Daniel and Frederick together, so she hurried into the house.
Daniel watched Anna enter the house before turning to Amelia and said softly, "Is he willing to just be Anna's uncle?"
Amelia nodded with a slight smile. "Yes, he chose that role himself."
Daniel was momentarily speechless.
Amelia smiled faintly. "Maybe he never thought Anna could be his child."
Daniel caught the bitterness in Amelia's smile and furrowed his brows, not knowing what to say for a moment. Amelia quickly composed herself and turned her head to Daniel. "It's okay. Anna is still happy even without him."
Many people love Anna, so she never mentioned finding her dad. Perhaps she didn't even have any concept of the word "dad" yet.
But next year, she would be three years old and would need to go to kindergarten. All the children in her class would have dads, and conversations about what makes up a family would surely arise. Anna would start thinking about it then.
Amelia took a deep breath and suppressed the worries in her heart.
Daniel looked at Amelia and saw the heaviness in her eyes, so he said in a soft voice, "There will be a way."
Amelia nodded gently.
Then they walked into the house.
Vincent was grinding coffee beans. Rachel was sitting on the couch making a phone call.
Daniel greeted Vincent first, then Rachel.
"Hi, Rachel."
Rachel nodded and replied, "Make yourself at home."
Daniel nodded.
Sebastian was on the phone with Rachel, reporting tonight's entertainment activities at Maples Club. When he heard a voice of the opposite sex from Rachel's side, he immediately asked, "Who is it?"
Rachel casually replied, "Daniel."
Sebastian's hand holding the phone tightened slightly. "Why is he there again?"
Rachel raised an eyebrow, not directly answering Sebastian's question and calmly said, "Go ahead and have fun, I won't take up more of your time."
After saying that, she promptly ended the call.
Sebastian's face immediately froze.
Noah and Yves sat next to Sebastian, glanced at him, and whispered, "What's wrong? Still can't handle a Davis girl?"
"Shut up, that's not even a problem." Sebastian spoke just as Frederick walked in from outside the door.
He glanced at Frederick and leisurely said, "He's the one who can't handle it."
