Chapter 196 He Was The Man Amelia Liked the Most
In Amelia's eyes, Walter was like a bad-tempered, easily angered child.
She didn't care about him at all, let alone take his words to heart.
Amelia walked slowly to the door of her office and looked up to see Frederick standing at the elevator door.
Frederick's face was gloomy. He was not in a good mood.
Amelia visited Brittany's ward every day during this time but had never run into Frederick.
"Mr. Hastings." Amelia took the initiative to greet him. "Are you here to see me?"
Frederick's eyes were indifferent as he walked toward her.
He said, "My medicine is missing." His tone was low and devoid of any emotion.
As he spoke, he glanced in the direction of Walter's ward.
When Walter saw Frederick, his expression changed drastically, and he quickly retreated into his room.
"When did you lose it?" Amelia asked as she entered the office.
Frederick followed behind her, expressionlessly answering, "It's been several days."
Amelia paused. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Frederick coldly said, "You didn't ask."
Amelia fell silent.
Frederick walked to her desk and pulled out a chair so he could sit down.
Amelia opened her computer to prescribe Frederick's medication. She also conducted a simple check-up while asking about his physical condition. "Do you still feel discomfort in your stomach in the morning? Any bloating?"
Frederick nodded. "Yes."
Amelia frowned and said, "If you don't feel good, you should see a doctor. Do I need to teach you this, Mr. Hastings?"
Frederick remained calm. "You're busy, Ms. Davis. I didn't want to disturb you."
Amelia was momentarily taken aback by his words. She had been quite busy lately.
Frederick's condition was stable, and she was taking on new patients and had clinic duty every day.
"You are my patient. Even if I'm busy, I will make time to see you," Amelia said.
Frederick's blue eyes turned slightly sullen as he said, "If you could make time to see me, you wouldn't have ignored me."
Amelia fell silent.
She felt uncomfortable hearing that from him after not seeing him for a few days.
She had deliberately tried to keep a certain distance from Frederick. She was afraid that too much contact with him would start to sway her feelings again.
Since Frederick hadn't contacted her either, she assumed that nothing was amiss.
She hadn't expected him to be so resentful when they met again.
"The medicine is ready. Just go to the pharmacy to pick it up." After preparing the medication, Amelia looked up at Frederick.
Nicole had finished her work and was heading toward Amelia's office.
Amelia heard Nicole's voice before she reached the door.
"Amelia, are you ready? Todd brought a few handsome young men to the restaurant. After dinner, we'll go..."
As Nicole arrived at the door, she paused.
Frederick turned to look at her.
Nicole immediately froze for a few seconds, then cleared her throat and greeted Frederick. "Mr. Hastings, are you unwell?"
Frederick didn't answer Nicole's question. Instead, he asked, "Where are you going after dinner?"
Nicole was momentarily at a loss for words.
She quickly looked at Amelia.
Amelia remained composed and answered honestly. "After dinner, we're going to a bar to relax."
Frederick turned to Amelia. "When did your idea of relaxation become going to a bar?"
Amelia pursed her lips and smiled lightly. "I can't stay in my little circle forever. At my age, I should experience different ways of life."
Frederick's expression turned cold.
There was tension in the air.
To ease the atmosphere, Nicole awkwardly said, "Mr. Hastings, would you like to join us?"
She was just being polite.
However, Frederick nodded, agreeing. "Sure."
Both Nicole and Amelia were momentarily taken aback.
Frederick got up from his seat and looked at Amelia, asking, "Shall we leave now?"
Amelia's expression stiffened slightly as she reminded him, "You haven't taken your medicine yet."
Frederick commented, "I'll have Paul get it."
Amelia continued, "You still need to take your medicine. You can't drink."
Frederick said, "I don't drink. Last time at the bar, I didn't drink either. I just wanted to experience the atmosphere of the bar."
Amelia fell silent.
She looked at Nicole.
Nicole didn't know what to do, either.
In the end, Nicole and Amelia took Frederick to the restaurant.
Todd and his friends were already waiting in the private room.
When Todd saw Nicole, he got up and gave her a big hug.
"Nicole, I missed you so much."
He raised an eyebrow when he saw Nicole's lack of interest. "What's wrong? Are you in a bad mood?"
Nicole should have been very happy to see the handsome guys.
He was not familiar with this listless Nicole.
Amelia and Frederick walked in behind Nicole.
Amelia's expression was also somewhat stiff.
Todd had met Amelia a few times and greeted her. "Hi, Amelia."
As he was about to speak, he saw Frederick behind Amelia and hesitated to reach out to hug her.
"Mr. Hastings?" Todd said.
Frederick nodded slightly. "You don't mind if I join you, do you?"
His tone was polite as he spoke, but his expression showed no hint of politeness.
Todd nodded. "Of course not."
Frederick was currently one of the hottest figures in the domestic business circle.
If Todd connected with Frederick, he would have access to resources in the circle in the future.
"It's my honor to have dinner with you. Please have a seat." Todd respectfully pulled out a chair for Frederick as he spoke.
Frederick looked at Amelia.
Todd also considerately pulled out a chair for Amelia. "Amelia, please sit."
Amelia nodded and took her seat.
Frederick then sat down next to Amelia.
After they were seated, Todd gave Nicole a thumbs up.
He didn't expect that Nicole could introduce him to a tycoon like Frederick.
Nicole awkwardly smiled and took her seat next to Amelia.
Todd went out of his way to please Frederick throughout the meal, and even the friends he had brought with him were particularly restrained at the dinner table.
After the meal, Frederick casually said to Amelia, "Didn't you find anyone you like? Or am I hindering your performance here?"
Amelia fell silent.
Nicole looked up in silence. As she listened to Frederick's jealous words, she thought that she might be fired tomorrow.
She felt she should say something that Frederick would like to hear to ease the tension so she could avoid losing her job.
"Mr. Hastings, since you're here, Amelia doesn't like anyone else. She likes you. Right, Amelia?"
Nicole nudged Amelia with her elbow.
Amelia didn't answer. She just glanced at the time, then looked at the others, saying, "I've booked a table at the bar. Have you all finished eating? Once you're done, let's head over."
Frederick's eyes turned sullen instantly.
No one dared to respond to Amelia after they saw Frederick's expression.
