Chapter 171 The Kingsleys Came to Propose Marriage

Amelia had just finished brushing Anna's teeth when Frederick walked in from outside and pulled out a chair for Anna.

"Anna, would you like to have breakfast with me?"

Anna nodded without hesitation, agreeing to join him. "Great."

Frederick then turned to Amelia.

"Let's have breakfast together," Frederick said.

He knew that Anna's agreement was just the first step, and it was Amelia's agreement that truly mattered.

Amelia had initially planned to take Anna back to the Davis Manor for breakfast. However, seeing Anna being held by Frederick, she felt a pang of disappointment.

When facing Anna, Frederick appeared gentle, a stark contrast to his usual serious demeanor.

Her heart softened inexplicably, and she agreed to have breakfast with Frederick, responding softly with just a single word, much like Anna.

However, her tone was so flat that it revealed little emotion, leaving Frederick somewhat disheartened.

As the three of them headed downstairs, Paul, who had been in the room earlier, had already come down to drive the car around.

Standing by the car, he opened the back door and waited. Frederick held Anna and gestured for Amelia to get into the car first.

Without much thought, Amelia bent down and got into the car.

Seeing her get in, Frederick breathed a sigh of relief. He had been afraid that Amelia might sit in the front passenger seat.

Having faced numerous rejections from her, he had developed a psychological shadow.

Frederick had never experienced so many failures in front of a woman before. Amelia was the first person to make him feel this way.

Paul had already chosen a spot at Whispering Willow Restaurant. Their breakfast was always excellent, and the environment was peaceful.

Since returning to the country, Amelia and Anna had rarely gone out for breakfast, so this was a first for them.

Whispering Willow Restaurant served them a variety of their signature breakfast dishes.

Anna was at a loss looking at the various animal-shaped breakfast items, unsure of where to start.

Seeing Anna's indecision, Amelia couldn't help but ask, "How much did you order?"

"We've ordered enough," Frederick replied, watching Anna's hesitant expression with a kind smile.

"Not knowing what Anna likes, I have ordered a bit of everything," Frederick said.

Amelia observed Frederick's indulgent fatherly demeanor toward Anna and furrowed her brow.

He seemed to be doting on Anna without knowing the truth. If he knew Anna's background, it might be different...

Amelia took a deep breath and quickly pushed aside these thoughts.

Soon, a waiter brought her a bowl of oatmeal. Amelia paused, recognizing it as her favorite oatmeal from before she went abroad.

During her previous job, she and Nicole used to go out of their way to a restaurant near the medical school to have oatmeal.

However, with the recent expansion of the medical school, the restaurant at the entrance had moved.

Upon her return, she had visited once to taste the familiar flavor, but the old owner was nowhere to be found around the newly opened medical school.

She couldn't help but look up at Frederick.

Frederick, with a smile on his face, had chosen a cute bunny-shaped bread for the indecisive Anna.

Sensing Amelia's gaze, he looked back at her.

"Give it a try and see if it suits your taste," Frederick said.

Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly. It was probably a coincidence.

During their three years of marriage, Frederick had never paid attention to her preferences, so how could he know she liked oatmeal?

She lowered her head to eat the oatmeal and found the taste surprisingly familiar.

A hint of hesitation flashed in her eyes as she looked at Frederick.

Frederick remained composed and calmly said, "The chef used to run a restaurant at the medical school entrance and was later hired by Whispering Willow Restaurant to specialize in oatmeal."

Amelia pursed her lips, suppressing her complex emotions, and replied calmly, "It's decent."

Frederick nodded gently. "As long as you like it."

Amelia fell silent.

After breakfast, Frederick drove Amelia and Anna back to the Davis Manor.

As Amelia got out of the car, she gave some serious instructions.

"I've placed your medicine on the table. Remember to take it at the specified times every day when you get back. No alcohol," Amelia said.

Frederick nodded and reluctantly handed Anna over to Amelia.

Amelia took the child and closed the car door casually.

Anna waved goodbye to Frederick. "Goodbye, Uncle Frederick."

Frederick also waved back. "Goodbye, Anna."

Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly, carrying Anna as she walked toward the interior of the Davis Manor.

Before entering, she glanced at a black car parked at the entrance, indicating that there were visitors inside.

After seeing that Amelia and Anna had entered the Davis Manor's courtyard, Paul was about to turn the car around to leave.

Just as he started the car, Frederick spoke coldly, "Stop."

Paul immediately hit the brakes.

The car parked at the entrance of the Davis Manor belonged to the Kingsley family.

Amelia led Anna into the house.

In the living room, Harold and Cynthia sat on the sofa with gifts they had brought neatly packaged in boxes, all containing gold and silver jewelry.

A hint of surprise flashed in Amelia's eyes.

Cynthia stood up immediately upon seeing Amelia return with Anna.

"Anna!" As she spoke, she walked up to Anna, bent down, took Anna's hand, and looked at her with affection.

Cynthia said, "Anna, I am..."

Amelia furrowed her brow slightly, understanding Cynthia and Harold's intentions for coming to the Davis Manor.

She immediately assumed a defensive posture.

At that moment, Vincent interrupted Cynthia.

"Susan, take Anna upstairs for a bath."

Sensing Amelia's defensiveness, Anna reached out to Susan as she approached, asking to be carried upstairs.

As Cynthia saw the cautious attitude of the Davises, her expression turned slightly awkward.

She looked at Amelia with a hint of guilt.

Cynthia said, "Amelia, I know you're still upset about what happened that day, but regardless, we are Anna's relatives. Please don't stop us from showing love to Anna."

Upon hearing Cynthia's words, Amelia rubbed her brow and replied calmly.

Amelia said, "I've already said that Anna has no connection with Dylan."

Cynthia smiled awkwardly and said softly, "Amelia, it's already at this point. You don't need to be angry anymore."

"Madison already knows she was wrong. It was Dylan who wronged you, so we've come to apologize with gifts. Amelia, for the sake of giving Anna a stable home, why don't you marry Dylan? After you're married, how you get along is something we won't interfere with."

As Cynthia spoke, her expression seemed urgent, as if not marrying into the Kingsley family would be a disservice to Anna.
