Chapter 112 She Didn't Want to Lose Face in Front of Frederick

Sebastian knew he had angered Frederick, so he hesitated to reply to his message.

Meanwhile, Frederick, in his hospital room, continued to hold his phone, staring at Sebastian's message for a long time. It wasn't until the nurse came to change his IV drip that he put away his phone. His expression returned to indifference.

Mary prepared lunch for Frederick and also made a portion for Amelia. She placed the lunch in Frederick's room and whispered, "I'll call Ms. Davis to come and eat." After saying that, she cautiously glanced at Frederick's face.

The man sitting on the hospital bed showed no change in expression.

Mary breathed a sigh of relief. Then she went to find Amelia.

Amelia had been abroad for three years and hadn't tasted Mary's cooking in a long time. After eating at Hastings Manor that day, she realized that she missed it dearly. When Mary mentioned that she had prepared lunch for Amelia, she immediately followed Mary into Frederick's room.

Frederick's lunch consisted of liquid food and was deliberately made bland. Meanwhile, when Mary opened the lunch box she had prepared for Amelia, a delicious aroma wafted out.

Mary brought a folding table and asked Amelia to sit and eat. Amelia didn't hesitate and sat down. Frederick tasted the oatmeal in his plate, finding it rather bland. He glanced at Amelia, who was happily eating at the folding table.

Mary stood to the side, observing the scene. It felt like they had gone back to the early days of their marriage. Frederick's heart suddenly ached, and he put down his spoon.

Upon hearing the sound, Mary looked at Frederick and asked, "Mr. Hastings, aren't you eating?"

Frederick's face showed no expression as he replied, "I don't have much of an appetite."

Once he finished speaking, he laid back on the hospital bed. Amelia put down her fork. Seeing Frederick's gloomy expression, she pursed her lips and said to Mary, "Mary, the next time you bring me food, just bring it directly to my office."

Frederick probably didn't want to see her, hence his current demeanor. After hearing Amelia's words, Mary glanced at Frederick. He had already closed his eyes, seemingly indifferent. She nodded in agreement.

"Alright."

Amelia smiled faintly. After she helped Mary tidy up the utensils, the two of them left Frederick's ward. Their voices became increasingly faint. Frederick opened his eyes and glanced toward the door, his face seemingly filled with complex emotions.

After Amelia saw Mary off at the hospital, she immediately immersed herself in work. When it was time to visit Frederick in his ward, she heard laughter coming from inside.

Amber's laughter was cheerful and her personality seemed much more outgoing compared to three years ago. A few days ago, Amelia saw Amber's videos on a short video platform. She had only a few hundred thousand followers, less than Vincent, but her fan base was growing rapidly.

Ever since Vincent started doing short videos when Davis Group was transitioning, and his years of photographing and blogging about finding fruits outdoors with Fondaniss, he had gradually stopped posting pictures of Amelia and Rachel. Many people didn't even know Vincent's true identity.

His purpose for filming short videos was completely different from Amber's. Over the past two years, Amber had become quite successful at making money. Not only did she pay off all her debts, but her life was also getting better and better. Her personality had naturally become more cheerful.

"I remember the first time I had imported cherries, it was Frederick who bought them for me. I never thought I would have the opportunity to work with them now."

When Amelia arrived at Frederick's room, she listened quietly at the door for a few moments. Then, she walked over and knocked on the door.

"I'm about to finish work, so I came to check on you," she said calmly. She then entered Frederick's hospital room.

Noah and Yves both stared at Amelia, with a somewhat stunned expression on their faces. They were completely clueless.

Amelia was Frederick's attending physician?

When Amber and Scott saw Amelia, they seemed composed. Amber even eagerly got up from her seat to greet Amelia.

"Ms. Davis, you're Frederick's attending physician?" Amber asked warmly.

Amelia remained composed and nodded slightly. She then walked to Frederick's bedside and asked him some questions.

She showed no personal emotions and her tone of voice remained unchanged.

Amber noticed this and smiled slightly. "Ms. Davis, you really love your career. With your background, why do you have to work so hard like us ordinary people?"

Amelia didn't respond to Amber's question.

Amber wasn't embarrassed either and continued to inquire, "Ms. Davis, since you're working, who takes care of your child? Is it possible that Mr. Vanderbilt stays at home to take care of the child? Mr. Vanderbilt is indeed a good…"

Before Amber could finish her sentence, Amelia interrupted her directly.

There was no change in her expression, and she spoke calmly, "Ms. Roberts, you mentioned my privileged background, so naturally I have hired someone specifically to take care of my child."

Amber awkwardly smiled, "You're right."

Amelia didn't engage in further conversation with Amber.

Scott looked at Amelia with a smile on his face. "Ms. Davis, when will you bring your daughter out for us to see? I saw the photos Sebastian posted. She's adorable."

Amelia responded coldly, "She's a bit shy."

Scott was speechless.

After finishing Frederick's examination, Amelia gave a few instructions and then turned to leave.

Scott sat in a chair on the side, watching Frederick.

Frederick was looking down at his phone. He didn't glance at Amelia much.

Scott raised an eyebrow and then smiled, saying, "I didn't expect you and Ms. Davis to be able to get along peacefully."

Frederick continued toying with his phone, not looking up. But he responded to Scott, "Do I have to have a deep hatred of her?"

Noah and Yves immediately changed the subject. "Why didn't Sebastian come today?"

"I heard he went to Davis Manor to discuss marriage. I don't know if things went well for him."

Amber also sensed the subtle tension between Scott and Frederick. She bit her lip lightly and cautiously glanced at Frederick.

Just as she was about to speak, Frederick said, "You all can go back, I need to rest."

Upon hearing this, Scott stood up from his seat, "Then we won't take up more of your time."

Amber felt a bit reluctant, but when she saw Frederick's indifferent expression, she didn't dare to stay any longer.

In the past three years, she had hardly had any contact with Frederick. Today, she was only able to come here because of Scott. If it weren't for Scott, she would have long distanced herself from this circle.

Noah and Yves never had any contact with her either.

As for Sebastian, ever since he got back together with Rachel, it's as if he had never known her. He even kept his distance from Scott.

Although Amber felt unwilling, she could only endure it. She didn't want to ruin the good image she had in Frederick's heart.
