Chapter 309 Have Her Eyes on the Same Dress
Amelia listened, unsure of what to say.
She sighed, "Have you decided?"
Dylan nodded, "Yes."
Amelia was quiet for a moment.
Dylan added, "My mom's on board, but my dad's still against it. I want to spend some time with them before heading to Fondaniss."
Amelia took a deep breath, "Dylan, maybe wait until Ken sorts everything out first."
She doubted Ken would really give up his interests and divorce Line. Since he had married for the interest, why would he let go now?
"Don't worry about me. I trust Ken," Dylan said firmly. "He'll handle it and won't make things hard for me. Amelia, you're my best friend. Wish me well, and I wish you the same."
Amelia found herself at a loss for words.
After a pause, she said softly, "Dylan, of course, I wish you well. But..."
Dylan cut her off, "No buts. I need to work on my dad. Bye, Amelia."
Amelia sighed, put away her phone, and got into the elevator.
She walked to the underground garage, where Felix had the car ready.
The backseat door opened, and Frederick, sitting inside, said softly, "Get in."
Feeling exhausted, Amelia decided not to drive herself. She put away her keys and got into Frederick's car.
Once inside, Frederick handed her a document.
Confused, Amelia took it.
She glanced at it and saw it was about the exchange meeting between Yaradia and Kasfee, clearing up some things she didn't understand.
Surprised, she noticed how detailed it was, with annotations on all the representatives and their fields.
"Did Felix organize this?" Amelia asked, surprised.
Frederick was usually too busy for this, so she assumed Felix did it.
Felix tightened his grip on the steering wheel and glanced at Frederick in the rearview mirror.
Frederick's expression changed slightly at the mention of Felix.
Felix quickly clarified, "Ms. Davis, Mr. Hastings did this himself. It took him several days."
Amelia looked at Frederick in disbelief.
Frederick straightened up a bit, "It didn't take that long. Don't listen to him."
Seeing the detailed annotations, Amelia knew it was thoughtfully prepared, especially for someone new to the business world like her.
She smiled, "Thanks for your hard work."
Hearing her thanks, Frederick felt a wave of relief, and the fatigue from staying up late to organize the document vanished.
"It wasn't hard. Just doing my job." He took the document from Amelia and started explaining key figures and the Davis family's competitors at the exchange meeting.
Amelia listened closely.
Felix glanced in the rearview mirror and saw them sitting closer together, a smile forming on his face. He thought Amelia and Frederick made a perfect match.
A few days before the exchange meeting, Rachel invited Amelia to shop for an outfit.
Amelia usually wore simple doctor's attire, but a formal dress was needed for the event.
Following Rachel's directions, Amelia arrived at a custom dress boutique. But Rachel was nowhere to be seen.
She went inside to pick out a dress and, after a while, still hadn't seen Rachel but instead ran into Amber, whom she hadn't seen in days.
Just as Amelia picked up a beige dress, another hand reached for it at the same time.
Amelia paused and withdrew her hand, "It's yours."
She looked up and saw it was Amber. The politeness in her eyes faded.
Amber's mood soured upon seeing Amelia. She pursed her lips and withdrew her hand too.
Amber said softly, "Ms. Davis, if you like it, you should try it. I saw it yesterday and really liked it. I came back today to buy it."
"Are you buying the dress for the exchange meeting? I don't mind wearing the same dress as someone else. Do you, Ms. Davis? If you do, I won't buy it." Her tone was gentle, but her words had hidden intentions.
The sales associate nearby sensed the tension.
"Sorry, I don't like wearing the same dress as someone else. But since you saw it first, I'll pass." Amelia turned to look at other clothes.
Amber chuckled softly, "You gave up the dress because I saw it first. What about the person? Will you give him up too?"
Amelia's eyes darkened slightly, and she stopped, turning to look at Amber.
Just then, Frederick walked in.
"Welcome." The sales associate quickly greeted him.
Amber noticed Amelia's expression change and turned to see Frederick entering.
Frederick's face was stern. Even though it had only been a few days, Amber felt his gaze was colder than before.
She felt uneasy and didn't dare meet his eyes.
Frederick walked over to Amelia, glanced at Amber, and asked in a low voice, "Which one do you like?"
Amelia replied calmly, "Since Ms. Roberts saw it first, I'll let her have it. I'll choose another."
Frederick frowned. This wasn't just about the dress. It also concerned him.
He quickly glanced at the sales associate next to Amelia.
The sales associate immediately brought out the beige dress Amelia had just looked at.
Frederick thought it suited Amelia perfectly.
It was simple and elegant, gentle and intellectual, matching Amelia's image very well.
Frederick said, "If you like it, just get it."
Amelia responded calmly, "I don't like wearing the same dress as someone else."
Frederick smiled slightly, "That's easy to solve. I'll buy all the same dresses and the copyright. That way, no one else can wear the same dress as you."
