Chapter 359 Who Would Get a VIP Room in the Hospital

Amelia and Nicole had been friends for years, their bond forged in the fires of college and solidified through their careers. Amelia could read Nicole like an open book, and she knew that Nicole had been in the dark about what had happened that night.

"Mr. Parker, you're overthinking it. The bond Nicole and I share isn't something that can be shattered by a single incident," Amelia said firmly.

Jesse smiled, "Hearing that from you, Ms. Davis, puts my mind at ease."

Amelia offered a faint "Mm," signaling the end of that conversation. Nicole, clinging to Amelia's arm, beamed triumphantly at Jesse.

"See? I told you Amelia wouldn't blame me," Nicole said, a note of defiance in her voice. "You don't understand our friendship at all."

"You're right," Jesse agreed with an amicable nod.

Nicole snorted softly, holding Amelia's hand, and asked in a low voice. "Did Mr. Hastings call you to explain what happened last night?"

Amelia gave a small nod. "Well. He did."

Nicole raised an eyebrow slightly, "How did he explain? Tell me, and I'll analyze it for you to see if he's lying."

Amelia replied softly, "It was just a normal explanation."

After taking a few steps, Nicole stopped and looked at Amelia. She asked, "Amelia, are you unwilling to share these things with me?"

Amelia shook her head gently and answered, "No. I'm just a bit tired."

Her gaze drifted toward the hospital cafeteria as she changed the subject. "Where are we eating? Let's not go too far. I have many patients in the afternoon. Let's eat at the cafeteria."

Without waiting for an answer, Amelia headed toward the cafeteria, her weariness evident in her stride. Nicole and Jesse had little choice but to follow her lead.

The three of them sat together, with only Nicole talking the whole time. Amelia and Jesse rarely spoke.

Jesse would occasionally chat with Nicole to avoid awkward silences.

Noticing that Amelia was speaking much less, Nicole softly asked, "Amelia, are you in a bad mood?"

Amelia shook her head, "Maybe I'm just a bit tired."

In the past, when it was just Nicole and her, she could talk to Nicole about anything.

However, with Jesse present and working for Scott, Amelia couldn't shake off a twinge of unease.

Just the thought of that incident made her wonder if Jesse was truly oblivious to what had happened. Deep down, she felt he must have had some inkling about Ruth's role in drugging, despite his outward persona as a decent guy.

Not too long ago, she'd felt a pang of guilt toward Jesse, but after everything that transpired, that guilt had largely faded, giving way to a clearer, more rational perspective.

Nicole suddenly uttered, "I took an early vacation and plan to go on a trip with Jesse. So don't miss me too much."

Hearing this, Amelia softly asked, "Seven days?"

Nicole nodded, "Yeah, seven days. We're going to Jesse's hometown, and we'll visit his family." As Nicole said this, she looked at Jesse with gentle eyes.

Amelia glanced at Nicole's state and said calmly, "Are you planning to get married?"

Previously, Jesse had proposed to Nicole on the yacht, but Nicole didn't agree. Now she was going to meet Jesse's parents, and Amelia really didn't understand what Nicole was thinking.

"Of course not." Nicole quickly denied it. "We're just visiting since it's on the way. The main thing is I want to relax."

Amelia nodded lightly, "That's good."

Nicole smiled and leaned in, whispering to Amelia. "Amelia, why don't you take your vacation too? We can go on a trip together."

Amelia shook her head, "I won't intrude on you two. Have fun."

Seeing Amelia refuse, Nicole didn't insist and changed the topic with a smile.

Amelia lowered her head to eat and casually asked, "How's Todd doing these days?"

The night the incident happened, Todd had beaten up Jesse.

After all, Ruth was Jesse's friend, and Todd almost had his career ruined because of her, so Jesse was definitely the target of his anger.

When Nicole heard Amelia mention Todd, she answered awkwardly. "He seems to have gone to Fondaniss. Isn't there a fashion week there recently?"

Amelia nodded lightly and advised softly, "You should have a good talk with Todd someday. He almost had his career ruined, so he's probably upset."

Nicole responded with a soft "Mm" and remained silent.

After eating, Amelia went back to the clinic office first. Nicole left with Jesse.

As Jesse left, he looked at Nicole and whispered, "It seems like Ms. Davis has a problem with me."

Nicole patted his shoulder and said with a smile, "It's okay, she's probably still traumatized by the yacht incident, so she's naturally excluding you. Just show your true colors when we get back from our trip, and as my good friend, I'm sure she'll warm up to you."

Jesse smiled and didn't say anything.

Amelia returned to the office, rested for a while, and then started working.

Today was packed with patients, and by the time the last patient was up, Amelia was feeling quite exhausted.

The last patient still hadn't arrived, and she glanced at her computer. It was Scott's name.

When Scott booked the appointment this morning, it didn't seem like he was here for treatment.

She was about to shut down the computer and head to the inpatient department when the door swung open. Scott strode in, his usual confident demeanor intact. He pulled out a chair and plopped down.

"Sorry, I was just in the smoking room having a cigarette," he said nonchalantly.

Amelia was surprised he actually showed up.

She took a deep breath, suppressing her annoyance at Scott, and asked in a flat tone, "What seems to be the problem?"

Scott looked at her with a mischievous smile. "If I don't tell you, can you figure out what's wrong with me?"

Amelia glanced up at him, her expression slightly stern.

The playful smile faded a bit when he realized she was serious. "Well, I've been feeling nauseous, like I want to throw up. My heart races, I break into cold sweats, and I get dizzy."

As Amelia took notes, she asked, "Any pain in any part of your body?"

Scott hesitated for a few seconds, then answered. "Not before, but now there is."

Amelia paused slightly as she typed, waiting quietly for Scott to continue with his symptoms.

But Scott just stared at Amelia with a smile, not continuing.

Amelia frowned and asked, "Where does it hurt?"

"When you ignore me, my heart hurts," he replied calmly. "We've known each other for a long time, and I haven't done anything to hurt you. We used to get along, and now I feel like I'm the last person you want to see. That hurts."

Amelia took a deep breath and said expressionlessly, "Since you can't specify your symptoms, you'll need a full body check-up."

Scott nodded. "Sure."

She glanced at him, then began entering test orders into the computer. After printing the order, she handed it to him. "Pay next door, then go to the second floor for the tests."

Scott raised an eyebrow, "Do I have to wait in line again?"

Amelia's response was a firm, "Mm."

Scott looked reluctant. He grumbled, "Isn't there a faster way?"

"No," she replied with finality.

Scott sighed dramatically. "Then I'll get a VIP membership."

She couldn't help but roll her eyes internally. She thought, 'Who comes to a hospital and talks about getting a VIP membership?' She couldn't help but think Scott needed a checkup, not just for his physical symptoms but possibly for something wrong with his brain.
