Chapter 324 Good Night
Amelia felt at peace listening to Frederick. The police sirens had stopped, and she was finally calming down.
Once her panic faded, she remembered why they were on the yacht. Frederick and Rachel were probably here for some big business event. She looked at Frederick, "You have stuff to do, right? Why don't you go up? I can stay here."
Frederick had stayed with her the whole time, a steady presence in the chaos. He knew he should go, but leaving her alone felt impossible. He came to the yacht to be close to her. When she fell into the water, he had felt a fear he hadn't felt in years.
It had been a long time since he feared losing someone so much. His heart still ached from watching her struggle in the cold water. He couldn't leave her now, not while she was still shaken.
Everyone knew the Hastings Group was a powerhouse. At the economic exchange between Yaradia and Kasfee, they dominated, signing more deals than anyone. So even if he hadn't shown up on the yacht, it wouldn't be a big deal.
But Frederick was glad he came. If he hadn’t been there, who knows what could have happened to Amelia?
"I don't need to go up, your sister can handle it," he reassured her.
Amelia nodded, her voice soft. "Alright."
After their brief exchange, she closed her eyes again, exhaustion washing over her. The boat rocked gently, and she drifted back to sleep, comforted by Frederick's presence.
Half an hour later, the yacht docked.
Charles escorted the guests off the yacht. Rachel, waiting for Amelia, stayed behind to leave with her after everyone else.
After seeing off the guests, Charles returned to Rachel and chatted with her, smiling.
The departing guests occasionally glanced back, curious and speculative.
Seeing Rachel and Charles together, they seemed like a perfect match. Rachel, cool and composed, hid her ambition behind a polite facade. Charles, charming and debonair, had a smile that hinted at his cunning. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing, graceful but ruthless, willing to do anything to get what he wanted.
The thought of them marrying, combining their power and ambition, sent a shiver down everyone's spines. A sense of unease filled the air.
When Ian knocked on the door, Amelia had just fallen asleep.
"Mr. Hastings, Ms. Davis, we've arrived at the dock," Ian's deep voice called from outside.
Frederick responded softly, "Alright, I know."
As he answered, he moved to carry Amelia, but she had already woken up.
"Are we there?" she asked, her voice hoarse.
Frederick nodded and reached out to hold her, "I'll carry you down."
Amelia shook her head, refusing. She didn't want to be carried by Frederick in front of those business people.
"No need, I can walk," she said, getting out of bed, putting on her shoes, and opening the door.
Ian was waiting. Seeing Amelia, he said politely, "Ms. Amelia Davis, Ms. Rachel Davis is waiting for you and Mr. Hastings upstairs."
Amelia nodded and thanked him softly, "Thank you."
Ian respectfully led them out of the cabin.
Rachel was chatting with Charles about business.
Charles leaned slightly against the yacht's railing, looking relaxed and content.
Rachel stood straight, serious, and meticulous. Despite their differences, they made a striking pair.
When Charles saw Amelia and Frederick approaching, he smiled and greeted them. "Ms. Davis, are you alright?"
Amelia nodded slightly, "Thanks for your concern. I'm fine."
Seeing Amelia looking better, Rachel felt relieved. She introduced them, "Amelia, this is Mr. Wright, president of Sunoro Group." She turned to Charles, "Mr. Wright, this is my sister, Amelia. Tonight's situation was resolved quickly thanks to your help."
Rachel gave Amelia a pointed look, "Amelia, thank Mr. Wright properly."
Charles smirked, "I didn't really help much."
Rachel's words were just a polite lie; she hadn't actually asked for his help.
Despite his smile, Charles still seemed unapproachable.
Amelia thanked him repeatedly.
Charles waved it off, indicating it was nothing.
Rachel pulled Amelia to her side and smiled as she said goodbye to Charles.
Charles nodded and didn't try to keep them, his gaze following Rachel's departing figure, a glint in his eyes.
Frederick chatted with Charles for a bit before leaving the yacht.
Felix was on the shore, holding Amelia's handbag, which he had retrieved from Todd's yacht earlier.
Seeing Amelia and Rachel disembark, he quickly walked over and handed the handbag to Amelia.
Amelia took her handbag and immediately asked, "Where are they?"
Felix glanced cautiously at Rachel.
Rachel's eyes were indifferent, showing no sign of warning, so Felix quietly said, "Ruth has been taken to the station for investigation, and the others are at the hospital. Ms. Adams drank a lot, so she might need her stomach pumped."
Amelia's expression turned serious.
Felix continued in a low voice, "There are also a few officers waiting. They might need you to give a statement."
Amelia nodded, "Alright, I'll go over now."
Felix led Amelia over. Rachel stayed by her side, her expression cold as she listened to Amelia recount the events.
Frederick and Charles soon joined them, both cooperating to give their statements.
After the officers finished, they said, "If there are any issues tomorrow, we might need Ms. Davis to come to the station. Please keep your phone accessible, Ms. Davis."
Amelia nodded, "Okay."
Rachel was about to tell the officers to contact her directly when Frederick spoke first. "She's a doctor. Sometimes, she can't have her phone on her during surgery. If you can't reach her, you can contact me."
Felix immediately handed his business card to the officers.
The officers took the card and agreed.
After the officers left, Tina drove the car over.
Before Tina could get out to open the car door for Rachel and Amelia, Charles had already opened the back door.
He made a gentlemanly gesture of "please."
Rachel hesitated and signaled Amelia to get in the car.
As Amelia bent down to get in, she softly said, "Thank you."
Charles smiled but didn't respond, his gaze fixed on Rachel.
Rachel pursed her lips, got in, and after sitting down, looked at Charles through the car window. "Thank you, Mr. Wright. We'll be leaving now. Goodbye."
Charles smiled, "Drive safely. Good night."
Rachel met his gaze, feeling a bit uneasy, and then instructed Tina to drive.
After driving for a while, Tina noticed Frederick's car following them and looked in the rearview mirror to tell Rachel, "Mr. Hastings' car is still behind us."
Rachel softly replied, "Don't worry about him."
Frederick was probably following them because he was worried about Amelia.
