Chapter 132 Frederick Came to Pick up Amelia to Attend the Commendation Ceremony

Vincent listened quietly to Amelia's words and fell silent.

Amelia looked at Vincent's grim expression, her lips slightly curved, and looked up at Vincent.
"Dad. This misunderstanding is quite good for me."

Vincent was stunned for a moment, not understanding the meaning of Amelia's words.

Amelia's lips curved slightly, but she didn't continue. Vincent didn't ask further. Young people's matters should be left for them to handle themselves.

Amelia walked toward Anna, holding Anna's hand into the restaurant, with Vincent following.

While they were being served their meal, Tom Johnson pushed Brittany in a wheelchair into the restaurant.

Amelia had been quite busy lately. Brittany hadn't visited Davis Manor recently due to her health.

Today, Amelia had some free time, so she invited Brittany to come over. It was a good opportunity for her to relax a bit.

Brittany hadn't seen Anna for a few days. Seeing Anna eating with concentration, a gentle smile never left her face.

"Our Anna is becoming more and more adorable."

It's all because of that scoundrel Frederick. If he hadn't been enchanted by Amber in the first place and insisted on divorcing Amelia, she wouldn't have had the chance to be with Anna now.

Thinking of Frederick, Brittany's eyes turned colder.

"Amelia. I heard Frederick troubled you last night. Is he okay?"

Over the years, Frederick rarely communicated with Brittany about important matters. Brittany was worried they might be hiding something about Frederick's condition.

Upon hearing Brittany's words, Amelia shook her head lightly. "No major issues. But he still needs some time to recuperate."

Brittany sighed. "When you were in Kasfee, his health was fine. You've only been away for three years yet he let himself deteriorate like this. Last night, you went to take care of him. I'm afraid you didn't get enough rest."

Amelia pursed her lips, feeling a bit guilty. She had rested well last night. For some reason, in Frederick's arms, she indeed felt an indescribable sense of security.

This morning, she didn't even know when Frederick got up.

"Grandma, I didn't help much last night. He stayed up all night on his own. However, his health does need attention. You should advise him to smoke and drink less in the future."

Amelia remembered that Frederick rarely smoked three years ago.

But after observing him during this period, she found that Frederick seemed to smoke frequently. Besides the faint scent of alcohol on him, there was also the smell of cigarettes.

Brittany nodded lightly at her words, then said somewhat helplessly, "He's grown up now. He won't listen to me. He'd probably only listen to his wife."

Amelia fell silent. She and Frederick were already divorced.

Thinking about Frederick mentioning bringing a woman to see her recently, Brittany's mood became gloomy. She changed the subject.

"I heard that Anderson from the hospital invited you to attend the city's commendation ceremony. Do you have the speech ready?"

Amelia shook her head. "Not yet. Mr. Zepho mentioned it to me yesterday."

Brittany nodded gently. "This commendation ceremony involves various industries. Frederick has also been invited. You've been away from the country for three years, and there have been many changes in Kasfee. It's good for you to go with him that day, for support."

Amelia nodded gently without refusing. "Okay."

She rarely attended such events, but having familiar faces around would make it less awkward.

The morning of the meeting arrived. Following Brittany's instructions, Frederick arrived early at Davis Manor.

Rachel had already prepared a suit for Amelia to attend the meeting. After she changed into the suit, Susan knocked on the dressing room door and said softly, "Amelia. Mr. Davis is here."

Amelia nodded lightly and responded nonchalantly, "Okay."

She seldom attended such events. It would not be excessively awkward with acquaintances by her side.

The morning of the meeting arrived.

She walked to the dressing table and checked her appearance. After finding no issues, she walked out of the room and downstairs.

Frederick was sitting on the couch in the living room, listening to Vincent. Anna was sitting next to Frederick, swinging her little legs leisurely, addressing Frederick.

"Uncle Frederick never comes to see me anymore."

As she spoke, she pouted, her beautiful eyes showing a hint of disappointment as she blamed Frederick.

Frederick paused for a moment, feeling inexplicably guilty.

Vincent intervened in time. "Uncle Frederick has been very busy lately. Do you not like me anymore?"

Anna immediately shook her head, "I like Grandpa."

Amelia listened to her words, a faint smile playing on her lips, and she walked downstairs. Frederick heard the footsteps and looked up.

Amelia was wearing a white suit jacket with a light blue shirt underneath. Her hair was styled in a bun, revealing her fair swan-like neck, giving her a fresh and competent look.

She rarely wore formal outfits. At the hospital, she wore the standard white coat. Outside the hospital, it was either light-colored jeans or casual outfits.

This was the first time Frederick had seen her like this. For a moment, he couldn't look away.

"Anna is probably a bit bored staying at home every day. There are no children her age around here. Previously, near Fondaniss, at Selah's home, there were peers her age. She used to go there often without being so clingy and wanting someone to accompany her."

When she mentioned the Vanderbilt Manor, Frederick couldn't help but furrow his brows slightly, observing her change in expression.

He had heard that her relationship with Selah was not good, which prevented her from getting together with Daniel. However, when she mentioned Selah, there was no hint of resentment or dissatisfaction in her tone.

Frederick felt a knot in his heart.

How good was her relationship with Daniel? It even made her speak so calmly when mentioning someone who treated her badly.

Vincent thought Amelia's words made sense, so he said, "When the weather cools down a bit, I'll take Anna to the park nearby. There are many children her age there. It's good for her to socialize."

Amelia nodded gently.

Upon hearing about other children, Anna's attention shifted. She happily ran to Vincent, talking about bringing snacks to share with the other children.

Vincent nodded in agreement.

Seeing that she was ready, Frederick stood up from the couch.

"Shall we leave now?"

Amelia nodded. When she looked at him, their eyes met. She was taken aback for a moment, then politely said, "Thank you."

Frederick didn't reply. After bidding farewell to Vincent, he walked out of Davis Manor.

Amelia followed him into the car.

She had expected Paul to drive them today. But to her surprise, Frederick was driving himself. She tried to open the back door but found it locked and couldn't be opened.

A hint of bewilderment flashed in Amelia's eyes.

Frederick had deliberately locked the back door when he came. Unable to open the back door, Amelia could only sit in the front passenger seat.

Frederick glanced at her from the corner of his eye, a faint smile tugging at his lips, which quickly faded away.
