Chapter 151 Button Up Again
Frederick never liked taking medicine. Now, with the bitter taste of medicine filling his mouth, he couldn't help but frown and furrow his brows.
Amelia just glanced at him lightly and asked, "Do you want some water?"
Frederick shook his head with a cold expression.
"No, thank you."
He was starting to feel a bit afraid of Amelia's retaliation.
Amelia smiled faintly and put away the water cup.
Anna looked at Frederick's furrowed brows and reached out to touch his eyebrows.
"Uncle Frederick, don't cry."
Anna probably inherited Frederick's dislike for medicine, so when she had a cold before, she would almost cry at the sight of medicine.
After seeing Frederick being given medicine by Amelia, she thought he would cry like her when taking medicine, so she quickly comforted him.
But her comforting words were too few, so her small hand could only be placed on Frederick's face to soothe him.
"Don't cry."
After Amelia put down the water cup, she couldn't help but look at Anna's performance, a hint of helplessness flashing in her eyes.
Vincent walked in from outside at this time.
Sebastian, who had been casually sitting on the sofa, immediately straightened up and got up from the sofa as he saw Vincent.
"Dad, you're here."
Upon hearing Sebastian call Vincent Dad, Frederick couldn't help but glance at him.
Sebastian changed the address quite quickly.
Thinking back to when Frederick had just married Amelia, he had never been able to bring himself to call Vincent dad, and many times, he didn't even want to return to the Davis Manor with Amelia.
Now, thinking about his past behavior, Frederick couldn't tell if he regretted it or felt sorry.
"You sit, don't mind me. It's getting late. Anna will be noisy for a nap later, so I have to take her back," Vincent said.
Vincent glanced at Frederick lying on the bed as he spoke, noticing that Anna had stuck many small stickers on him.
Seeing that he was in good spirits, not even unhappy, he smiled and said, "At Anna's age, she likes to play with these things. Sorry for disturbing your rest."
Listening to Vincent's words, Frederick politely replied, "It's okay. The kids like Anna are lively and lovely. It's normal. Besides, she also helps me pass the time."
Upon hearing Frederick's words, Amelia couldn't help but look at him a few more times.
Vincent, while talking to Frederick, noticed that Anna was getting sleepy, so he bent down and picked her up.
"Anna, do you want to sleep?" Vincent asked.
Anna obediently nodded and said, "Yes."
She naps at this time every day, so she was feeling sleepy now.
Vincent then bid farewell to Frederick and Sebastian before leaving.
Amelia escorted them outside.
Sebastian watched them leave and then turned his gaze to Frederick. He noticed that Frederick's eyes were fixed on Amelia and the others' departing figures and remarked, "It seems like you're ready to be Anna's stepfather."
Upon hearing Sebastian's words, Frederick immediately frowned and stared at him displeased.
"If you have nothing to do, go find Rachel. Don't bother me."
Seeing the pained expression on his face, Sebastian couldn't help but smile.
"If you hadn't done that before, you and Amelia's child..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Frederick, lying on the bed, threw a book at him. "Get lost."
Sebastian accurately caught the book and glanced at the cover.
"This is Amelia's book," Sebastian said.
Frederick paused, then glanced at him with a stern face. "Bring it here."
Sebastian handed him the book, and Frederick checked it for any damage before setting it aside.
"Look at you now," Sebastian said.
Frederick glanced at him indifferently. "You're good, but I don't see you showing off much in front of Rachel either."
Sebastian didn't know how to respond for a moment, then said, "I'm not afraid of her. I respect her. After all, she is my wife. I should give in to her. You're different."
Frederick's eyes were cold and sharp.
Sebastian glanced at Frederick with a light gaze and didn't continue speaking. After all, by saying this much, Frederick understood his meaning.
After seeing Vincent and Anna off, Amelia returned to the hospital.
As she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Sebastian standing outside and paused, asking, "Brother-in-law leaving, are you leaving so soon?"
Sebastian was pleased to hear Amelia address him as "brother-in-law."
"Yes. I said something that Frederick didn't like just now, so he kicked me out."
Amelia smiled calmly upon hearing this.
Frederick was just like that. Even though Sebastian and he had been good friends for many years, Sebastian still had to consider his mood and feelings.
"Alright then, I won't see you off. Take care," Amelia said.
Sebastian nodded.
Amelia entered the elevator and then returned to her office.
After work, she went to Frederick's ward to check on him and give some instructions.
As Frederick saw her about to leave, his eyes turned sullen slightly. He didn't want to spend the night in the ward.
"I want to go back to the Pearl Building," Frederick said.
Amelia, thinking about how Frederick had attended business dinners after leaving the hospital the previous times, decided it was best for his health to let him stay in the hospital.
"Mr. Hastings, I believe you know your current health condition better than I do. If you go back and something happens at night, the medical staff won't be able to reach you in time. Staying in the hospital is better for your health."
Frederick glanced indifferently at Amelia. "You are my attending physician."
Amelia nodded and said, "Yes."
Frederick glanced lightly at her. "So you don't plan to stay in the hospital tonight either. If something happens, you'll have to rush from the Davis Manor here. If I live in the Pearl Building, you can save some travel time."
Amelia paused. Seeing him already lifting the comforter to get up, she said solemnly, "There are doctors on duty in the hospital."
Frederick didn't respond.
He unbuttoned the buttons on his hospital gown, revealing a large area of solid muscle.
Amelia blushed slightly and slowly averted her gaze.
Amber arrived at Frederick's ward on time and knocked on the door.
"Frederick, I brought you some nutritious oatmeal."
Her voice was gentle and sweet, and she pushed the door open and walked in as she spoke.
Upon entering, Amber happened to see Frederick about to take off his hospital gown. She paused, then looked toward Amelia.
Amelia remained calm, and upon seeing Amber, any hint of her previous feelings disappeared completely.
Frederick's eyes turned sullen slightly. Upon hearing Amber's voice, he immediately pulled back the gown and buttoned it back up.
"Amber, please leave."
