Chapter 361 Send Him Home Tonight

Amelia lightly pressed her lips together and said with a smile. "This dessert shop is a bit far from the Hastings Group. Did you drive all the way there?"

Frederick nodded, "I even had to wait in line for a while. Business is pretty good."

"Their business has always been good. It's near the school, and the prices are affordable, so they always have customers," Amelia responded with a smile. "You going to that shop probably caused quite a stir."

After all, Frederick was a well-known figure in Kasfee, a young and promising talent.

Scott watched Amelia smiling and talking with Frederick; the harmony between them was undeniable. His eyes grew slightly cold, and he stood up from his seat, determined to make his presence felt. "Dr. Davis just got off work, and Frederick is here too. How about we all have dinner together?" His voice was calm but insistent.

Amelia's response was immediate and unwavering, her eyes reflecting a hint of resistance. "No need," she refused in a low voice, clearly not keen on the idea of sharing a meal with Scott.

Scott's eyes narrowed slightly before he shifted his gaze to Frederick. "Frederick, what do you think?"

Frederick remained calm and indifferent as ever. "I promised my father-in-law to have dinner at the Davis Manor, so let's skip it." The way he called "father-in-law" so naturally made it seem as if he and Amelia had already remarried.

Amelia couldn't help but glance up at Frederick, who responded with a cheeky smile, as if enjoying the subtle insinuation.

Scott's expression became hard to read, a subtle smile playing on his lips. "Since you both have plans, I guess we'll have to skip it."

Scott slipped his hands into his pockets and walked out of Amelia's office. As he reached the door, he paused, noticing Amelia had no intention of calling him back. He took a deep breath and turned around to face her again.

"Dr. Davis, should I come back tomorrow for the medication, or should I pick it up at the pharmacy now?" he asked.

Amelia answered calmly. "Just use your ID to pick up the medicine at the pharmacy."

Scott hesitated. "What about the dosage..."

"It's on the label," Amelia responded.

Scott took in her composed and business-like demeanor, and his gaze softened with a hint of frustration.

"Alright then," He muttered and walked out, his demeanor tinged with annoyance.

Frederick had noticed Scott's barely concealed resentment during their exchange. His brow furrowed slightly, standing beside Amelia and feeling an inexplicable sense of unease.

He asked, "What's wrong with Scott's health? Why did he come to the emergency department?"

Amelia reached out to pick up the dessert Frederick had placed on the table and answered calmly. "Probably due to long-term late nights and heavy drinking, irregular eating habits leading to hypoglycemia. He needs some healing."

Amelia looked up at Frederick, "I need to go to the inpatient department. Will you wait for me in the car?"

She reached out to take the documents from Frederick's hand, but Frederick held them tightly, "I'll walk you up."

Seeing his insistence, Amelia didn't refuse and nodded. "Alright."

The two left Amelia's outpatient office and went to the inpatient department.

Upstairs, Amelia placed the documents on her desk and asked Frederick to wait in her office while she went to the storage room to change clothes.

Frederick sat in Amelia's office, his gaze falling on the bookshelf behind her desk, which held many of Amelia's award certificates. There were also some banners from grateful patients.

Seeing how many accolades Amelia had achieved at such a young age was a testament to her dedication.

Earlier that day, while Rachel was at Frederick's company to sign a contract renewal, he had taken the opportunity to inquire about Amelia. He had never before taken the time to delve into her past.

Rachel had shared that before she met Frederick, Amelia had been passionate about painting and had even considered a future in jewelry design.

Frederick recalled how Rachel had invested significantly in the jewelry industry, likely with the intention of giving Amelia her own jewelry company. But Amelia had chosen the path of medicine, leaving her former aspirations behind.

After changing her clothes, Amelia walked back to the office and saw Frederick standing in front of her certificates, lost in thought.

She walked over and said calmly. "Let's go. My dad just called to urge us."

Hearing Amelia's voice, Frederick snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look at Amelia standing at the door. He felt a bit suffocated but mostly guilty. "Getting these certificates must have been very difficult," he remarked, his voice tinged with admiration and something else he couldn't quite place.

Frederick had glanced through Amelia's medical books before and found them as dry and tedious as a textbook on astronomy. He couldn't fathom how Amelia had persevered.

Amelia glanced at the certificates on the cabinet and said softly, "My dad keeps the really difficult ones."

Frederick was quite surprised.

Amelia's expression remained indifferent, "Let's go."

Frederick nodded and followed Amelia. After a few steps, he walked side by side with Amelia, and they entered the elevator together.

During rush hour, the elevator was crowded. Frederick wrapped his arm around Amelia's shoulders, pulling her closer to him to shield her from the jostling crowd.

Frederick always had an air of arrogance that made him hard to approach, so people around him kept a certain distance.

After exiting the elevator, Frederick kept his arm around Amelia's shoulders, naturally guiding her toward his car.

Many of Amelia's colleagues behind them were stunned by this scene. No wonder there were always rumors that General Hospital was under Amelia's name. It seemed the rumors weren't entirely false.

Frederick opened the passenger door for Amelia, who bent to get in, taking the dessert box from him.

She inspected it briefly.

Fortunately, despite the crowded elevator, the dessert had remained intact.

Frederick bent down to fasten her seatbelt.

Amelia didn't resist, quietly watching him.

The distance between them was very close. After fastening the seatbelt, Frederick lightly kissed Amelia's lips as he straightened up.

It was a fleeting kiss, but it left a lasting warmth between them. Frederick's gaze was filled with warmth and longing as he looked into her eyes. "When will you let me sleep with you, hmm?"

Amelia felt the heat of his gaze and blushed, biting her lip lightly as her eyes flickered with hesitance. Frederick's tone grew more earnest, tinged with a hint of grievance. "It seems like no one else feels as neglected as I do. Everyone else is cherished by their wealthy benefactors, while I seem to be barely on your radar."

Amelia met his deep blue eyes, seeing her own reflection in their depths. Her expression softened, and she whispered, "After dinner, I'll drive you back to Spring Villa."
