Chapter 248: She Wished She Could Kill Them Both

Amelia watched her walk away briskly, then casually looked away and continued picking out a gift for Anna.

She had no interest in the Rodriguez family or Billy at all.

Amelia didn't like mentioning Anna in front of others. She also disliked it even more when people tried to learn about her past marriage with Frederick, fearing it might harm Anna.

However, Patricia was too enthusiastic. Amelia worried that her polite responses might lead Patricia's misunderstanding, so Amelia chose to reveal that she had a child.

Amelia didn't really care how Patricia misunderstood. After all, once they returned to Kasfee, their interactions would diminish.

After selecting a gift for Anna, Amelia left the mall.

The next morning, she left the hotel with her and Kimberly's luggage, heading to the hospital.

Maria's transfer procedures had been completed.

Amelia accompanied Maria and Sandra home to pack their things, arriving at a very old neighborhood.

Sandra led the way while Amelia held Maria's hand.

Sandra introduced, "This is my mom's house. It's very old. When we were in debt recently, they said we should sell the house to pay for Maria's treatment, but it never sold."

Sandra wiped away tears as she spoke.

Maria's grandparents, knowing Maria was going to Kasfee for treatment, had already packed Sandra's luggage and prepared many daily necessities, from pots and pans to toothbrushes and towels.

Sandra smiled and continued, "Although Maria received donations from society, we still need to save every penny because Maria's future treatments will require a lot of money."

Maria's grandmother pulled Sandra aside and said many things. Noticing Rodolfo wasn't there, she asked, "Is Rodolfo working again?"

Sandra silently nodded and replied bitterly, "Yes, he's working."

Maria's grandmother sighed. "Rodolfo has been working hard lately. You should call and check on him occasionally."

Sandra hesitated to speak.

Maria's grandfather noticed Sandra had something to say, so he found an excuse to take Maria outside for a walk.

After Maria left, Sandra seriously said to her father, "I want to divorce him, and I want to take him to court. He used the donation money meant to save Maria and buy a house for another woman!"

Sandra was crying as she said this.

Maria's grandmother was shocked and couldn't believe what Sandra was saying.

Shocked, she continued by asking, "Is there some kind of misunderstanding? He doesn't seem like the type to do such a thing."

In their impression, Rodolfo had always been very honest.

He even helped fix things whenever he visited, not seeming like someone with bad character.

Sandra cried uncontrollably, perhaps not understanding why Rodolfo would cheat.

With Maria being sick and Rodolfo cheating, it was a double blow for her.

Seeing her in such pain, Amelia was reminded of the heart-wrenching feeling when she divorced Frederick, and her eyes reddened.

Maria's grandmother, seeing Sandra cry, also teared up.

She spoke incoherently, "Is it because you've been so focused on Maria that you neglected Rodolfo, so..."

Maria's grandmother couldn't believe the reality and even tried to make excuses for him.

But she stopped mid-sentence and cried. "Maria's illness is still ongoing. Without Rodolfo's financial support, you would have to take care of Maria. Your daddy and I would be too old to land you a hand. What will happen to Maria?"

Maria's grandmother cried anxiously.

Amelia worried that these might sway Sandra and was about to speak.

Sandra wiped away her tears, her gaze serious and determined.

She firmly said, "Mom, don't worry. I will sue Rodolfo to get back the money he spent on that woman. This is Maria's lifesaving money. No one can touch it."

Maria's grandmother remained silent for a while and then said, "Rodolfo has been working hard lately. If he's willing to return the money, let's not make it too far awary. We don't want the neighbors to gossip. Maria is still sick. For the child's sake..."

Amelia felt heavy-hearted. Clearly, Rodolfo had cheated and used Maria's lifesaving money to buy a house for his mistress. Yet, it was Sandra who was morally bound.

Amelia remembered when she divorced Frederick, she was pregnant, but her father and sister chose to stand by her, which warmed her heart.

Sandra's situation now was much more difficult than hers.

So Amelia spoke words of comfort, "Kasfee General Hospital can waive part of Maria's treatment costs. Even if Sandra divorces Rodolfo, he is still obligated to bear the corresponding treatment costs. Don't worry about Maria's future treatments."

With Amelia's words, Maria's grandmother's concerns were significantly alleviated.

Seeing Amelia support her, Sandra strengthened her previously wavering resolve.

Sandra smiled bitterly. "Although he's been working hard, it wasn't for Maria."

She had always thought Rodolfo was busy, too busy to call and ask about Maria's condition because he was earning money for Maria's medical expenses.

But he wasn't earning money for Maria's medical expenses. Instead, Rodolfo was earning money for his mistress' living expenses.

Sandra should have noticed earlier why his workload had increased so much. Yet, the money he handed over was significantly less than before.

Sandra never imagined that someone as honest as Rodolfo would cheat, and he had been cheating for a long time, even sending his mistress $4,000 a month.

If it weren't for Amelia's reminder, she would never have checked Rodolfo's account for donations. Rodolfo's account usually had no money left. He would hand over any money he had, so she had always trusted him.

Rodolfo had never mentioned it, so Sandra assumed he hadn't received any donations.

Last night, she checked Rodolfo's account and found that he had recently received many donations totaling $100,000.

But this money had been transferred to a woman's account a couple of days ago.

Sandra knew the mistress who was a saleswoman at Rodolfo's previous company. Before Maria got sick, Sandra had invited Rodolfo's colleagues, including her, over for dinner.

When Maria first got sick, that female colleague often called to check in and even donated $200 for Maria.

Sandra had been very grateful for that, but Rodolfo had been secretly sending her $4,000 a month for living expenses.

This money should have been theirs, meant for Maria's treatment!

Sandra spent the entire night checking Rodolfo's statements, not sleeping at all.

Sandra looked through the mistress' Instagram and found that she had bought a house a couple of days ago, coinciding with the day Rodolfo transferred the money.

Seeing the mistress' overwhelming happiness on Instagram, she sank her heart completely.

Sandra wanted to kill Rodolfo and his mistress both.
