Chapter 266 Their Mother Abandoned Vincent and Them
Rachel muttered, "I don't believe it."
Shirley's pale, anxious face blurred in her vision.
Tina quickly dialed 911.
Shirley was crying uncontrollably on the side, extremely worried.
Tina, annoyed by the noise, frowned and said, "Shut up."
Shirley covered her mouth, not daring to make a sound. She had never encountered such a situation before.
Moreover, Rachel was injured because of her mistake. If her brother found out, Shirley would be in big trouble.
After Rachel was taken to the hospital, Tina informed Amelia.
When Amelia and the others arrived at the hospital, Rachel had already woken up.
Rachel lay on the hospital bed, her forehead wrapped in bandages, scrutinizing Shirley, who stood by her bedside.
Shirley's eyes were swollen from crying. "Ms. Davis, I'm really not a spy sent by any company. I am..."
Shirley stopped mid-sentence. If she mentioned her brother's name now, it would only confirm her as a spy.
She didn't know how to explain and started crying again out of anxiety.
Rachel watched her tears fall with an expressionless face.
Vincent and Amelia stood at the door. Seeing that Rachel was in good spirits, they both breathed a sigh of relief.
Rachel still had the energy to scold people, which meant the car accident wasn't too serious.
Vincent walked in, glanced at Shirley's red and swollen eyes, and didn't know what to say. He sighed and looked at Rachel. "In the future, make sure to hire drivers with at least ten years of experience."
Tina had already explained the situation of the car accident over the phone. Vincent had been very anxious on the way, but seeing that Rachel was okay, he finally calmed down a bit.
Rachel nodded lightly. "I didn't expect a driver with four years of experience to be so bad."
Shirley turned red with shame, wanting to find a place to hide.
Amelia walked closer, checked Rachel for other injuries, and finally felt relieved. Amelia said seriously, "You need to have more reliable people like Tina around you."
Shirley stiffened her expression, turning pale.
Amelia meant that Rachel should fire her.
After all, she had made such a big mistake.
Rachel looked up at Amelia and smiled. "Don't you think she reminds you of yourself a long time ago?"
Amelia paused, looking speechless. "I don't cry anymore!"
Rachel chuckled softly.
Amelia snorted lightly, gave Rachel a reproachful look, and then started flipping through the medical reports.
She needed to make sure Rachel was completely fine.
Seeing Amelia standing by, flipping through the reports, Rachel smiled softly and said, "Don't worry, I'm healthy. I won't let you take over Davis Group."
Amelia, still looking at the reports, replied calmly, "You better take care of yourself. If Davis Group falls into my hands, it might go bankrupt in less than a year."
Seeing Rachel and Amelia chatting so relaxedly, Tina glanced at Shirley and signaled her to follow her out.
Shirley left Rachel's room with her head down.
Outside the room, Frederick came in, holding Anna. When he saw Shirley, his expression tightened.
He stepped into Rachel's room, and Anna, seeing Rachel, struggled to go to her. "Aunt Rachel!"
Rachel wanted to reach out and hold the child. Remembering she had a severe cold, she waved at Frederick, "You please..."
Before she could finish, Rachel started coughing violently.
Frederick immediately understood and took a step back with Anna.
Seeing Rachel coughing so badly and her forehead wrapped in bandages, Anna didn't dare let Rachel hold her. Instead, Anna stayed quietly in Frederick's arms, her little face full of worry.
She asked, "Aunt Rachel is sick?"
Frederick nodded. "Yes, only when Aunt Rachel gets better can she hold you."
Anna nodded obediently.
Amelia patted Rachel's back, and Vincent handed over a cup of water. After Rachel finished coughing, she drank some water and felt much better.
Rachel added, "Daddy, I'm fine. You don't need to worry. Take Anna home first. I'll head back after I finish this IV. Don't want to pass the cold to the child."
Vincent looked conflicted.
Amelia nodded slightly at him, signaling that everything was okay. Only then did Vincent take Anna from Frederick's arms.
He agreed, "Alright. I'll go home and prepare dinner for you."
As Vincent left with Anna, she waved at Rachel. "Aunt Rachel, get well soon!"
Rachel couldn't help but smile at her adorable gesture. "Okay."
Her voice was hoarse as she replied.
After Vincent left, Frederick sat on the sofa opposite Rachel's hospital bed. He asked in a calm tone, "Shirley works at your company?"
Rachel responded with hesitation and then suddenly looked up at Frederick.
"You know Shirley?" Rachel asked.
Frederick remained indifferent. "Not really. I just know her identity. She's a distant relative of the Murphy family from Southern Town."
Rachel turned cold, her eyes instantly showing a hint of frostiness.
Amelia noticed that when Frederick mentioned the Murphy family, his gaze seemed to sweep toward her.
She was puzzled and looked at Frederick, but his eyes were focused on Rachel as if the earlier glance was just her imagination.
Amelia never involved herself in Davis Group's affairs. She rarely attended social events, so she was unfamiliar with the prominent families in various cities.
Seeing Rachel's cold look, Amelia asked, "Is the Murphy family from Southern Town, a competitor of the Davis Manor?"
Rachel didn't answer Amelia's question. Instead, she said, "Amelia, I just had a brain CT scan, and I don't think I got the report. Could you check the examination room for me?"
Amelia understood that Rachel was intentionally sending her away, possibly to discuss work matters with Frederick. Amelia wasn't interested in these things, so she nodded and left.
As Amelia left, she closed the door behind her, worried that someone might eavesdrop on Davis Group's business secrets.
Once Amelia was gone, Rachel rubbed her temples and looked sharply at Frederick.
"How do you know about Shirley's connection to the Murphy family?" Rachel asked.
When Shirley applied to Davis Group, Rachel saw her. She was inexplicably reminded of Amelia as a child, which was why she kept her around.
Rachel hadn't expected Shirley to be related to the Wright family, who had long shifted their focus abroad, let alone the Murphy family.
No wonder Shirley bore some resemblance to Amelia as a child.
Frederick replied, "I investigated."
Johnathan from the Hastings Manor had been particularly concerned about Frederick's marriage in recent years.
Last year, they sent over many photos.
Shirley's photo was among them, and she bore some resemblance to Amelia.
Johnathan thought Frederick might be interested in her and told him about Shirley's background.
Rachel's beautiful, narrow eyes narrowed slightly. "A potential match?"
Frederick replied, "I didn't meet her."
Rachel turned cold, almost warningly, "You better not get involved with her, or Mr. Hastings might never set foot in Davis Manor again!"
Frederick responded, "I know."
The Murphy family from Southern Town was the maternal family of Rachel and Amelia's mother.
Amelia had never known that their mother, shortly after giving birth to her, had an affair and even abandoned Vincent and them for the other man.
