Chapter 33 You Should Be Gentle

Amelia calmed her emotions and threw herself into her work.

The medical report for Amber came back clear. After confirming there were no issues, Amelia took care of Amber's follow-up procedures.

Once the stitches were removed, she gave Amber some instructions about her recovery post-discharge.

“You need to focus on resting during this initial period out of the hospital. You can move around a bit, but nothing too strenuous. For the next six months, it's best you avoid any intimate activities.”

Her expression was stern, and Amber's cheeks tinted with a blush.

“Ms. Davis, don't worry. Frederick isn't the reckless type.”

Feeling a twinge in her heart, Amelia withdrew her gaze and said lightly, “Congratulations on your discharge.”

Amber thanked her in a soft voice.

Amelia nodded slightly and turned to leave the room. As she approached the door, she saw Frederick walking towards them. Clearly, he was there to pick up Amber.

With an impassive face, Amelia looked away and passed by him without any greeting.

Frederick's stride faltered slightly as he gave Amelia a probing look.

Amber emerged from the room carrying a multitude of medical supplies and lit up upon seeing Frederick.

“Frederick, you’re here to pick me up? I thought you'd be too busy to come today.”

Frederick responded indifferently as he took the bags from her hands. “I was in the area and thought I'd check on you. Let’s go, I’ll take you home.”

Amber felt a pang of disappointment. He hadn't come just for her.

Outside the hospital, Frederick walked briskly. Amber struggled to keep up, freshly discharged and somewhat breathless. It took her a considerable effort to reach his car, by which point she was panting.

Frederick placed the medicine on the passenger seat and got into the driver’s side to make a call.

Amber walked around the front of the car and tried the passenger side door, only to find it locked, evidently by Frederick.

She stiffened for a moment before reaching to open the rear door, which swung open without resistance.
Amber felt a surge of discontent as she bent to enter the back seat of the car. She took a seat, feeling a dull ache in her heart that seemed to make the injuries she had suffered more painful.

"Frederick," she started but stopped herself short.

Frederick had just ended a call and glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "Where do you live?" he asked.

Amber hesitated. She had mentioned her address to Frederick before and was surprised that he hadn't remembered it. Clutching her hands tighter on her lap, she finally whispered the name of a place.

Meanwhile, Amelia had been handling her hospital workload until very late before heading home. On reaching Spring Villa, she noticed only the living room lights were on, and it was obvious that Frederick wasn't there.

Feeling a slight discomfort at the thought, she walked into the living room. Mary was finishing up her evening chores and quickly asked Amelia upon seeing her, "Mrs. Hastings, why are you getting off work so late today? Did you have a difficult patient?"

Amelia showed the fatigue in her eyes as she replied simply with a "Hmm". Without pausing, she headed upstairs.

"Mrs. Hastings, would you like something to eat?" Mary called after her.

"I just want to sleep right now," Amelia shook her head.

Mary fell silent, not wanting to bother her further.

After Amelia washed up and lay down in her bed, exhaustion quickly took over, and she fell into a deep sleep without even knowing when Frederick came home and got into bed.

The next morning, Amelia woke up to the feeling of an arm across her waist. She glanced down and turned to see Frederick's handsome face. She paused for a moment.

Frederick awoke shortly after. Seeing Amelia, he slightly furrowed his brow, a hint of irritation in his expression.

"Don't move! Or I'll touch you," he warned her in a low tone, tightening his arm around her.

Amelia, now wide awake, stared blankly at the ceiling, motionless.

Frederick felt the stiffness in her body and let out a deep breath, opening his eyes. "Are you that afraid of me touching you?" he asked.

Amelia glanced at his brooding face and shook her head.

Frederick sat up, propping himself up on the sheets, leaning over Amelia. He stared down at her with his deep eyes for a long while, then lowered his head to give her a tentative, cool kiss on the edge of her lips.

Seeing no resistance from Amelia, Frederick wrapped his hand around her waist and drew closer.

"What do you say?" His voice was deep and hoarse. He held her gaze intensely but made no further move as if waiting for her to respond.
As Frederick approached, Amelia hesitated for a moment. Clad only in his pajama pants, his upper body was a tapestry of well-defined muscles that piqued one's interest. She was, after all, a normal woman with physical desires.

Such a desirable man looked at Amelia with anticipation in his eyes. Truth be told, she found it incredibly hard to resist.

Without giving a verbal response, Amelia's hand instinctively reached out, caressing Frederick's robust muscles. After a moment of internal struggle, she whispered softly, "Be gentle. I haven't been feeling well lately."

Her voice was barely above a whisper, as tender as her touch.

Frederick felt his heart soften at her words.

He held her tightly as if trying to meld her into his body. Heeding Amelia's request, Frederick was exceedingly gentle, maintaining his composure even as Amelia fully surrendered to the moment.

Just as they were getting to the crux of their intimacy, Frederick's phone began to vibrate insistently.

Frowning, Frederick chose to ignore it.

After a short pause, the vibrating ceased, but then Amelia's phone started to ring.

Due to the nature of her profession, Amelia had to keep her phone accessible at all times in case a patient needed her urgently during the night.

Frederick started to grow irritated.

Even Amelia couldn't help frowning - the timing of the call was truly inconvenient.

"See who it is?" he suggested with a hint of annoyance.

Pinned down by Frederick, Amelia couldn't reach for the phone.

With a deep sigh, he took matters into his own hands and grabbed her phone, only to be surprised to see it was a call from Brittany.

Without hesitation, Frederick answered the call.

"Grandma."

His voice was deep, slightly hoarse, carrying a distinctly different emotion.

"You trying to kill me?" he growled.

Brittany, upon hearing Frederick's voice, gave a disdainful snort.

"Today is Emily's Memorial Day. Madison and I have already set off for Emily's grave. Hurry up and bring Amelia with you," Brittany said curtly and ended the call.

The desire in Frederick's eyes dissipated.

Amelia, coming back to her senses, blinked and quietly regarded the man atop her.

A few seconds later, there was a knock at the bedroom door.

Mary's voice sounded from the other side.

"Mr. Hastings, Mrs. Hastings, Mrs. Brittany called to wake you. Today is the memorial day for Mrs. Emily."

Frederick, now thoroughly angered, let out a roar, "Get out!"
