Chapter 172 Seizing Custody of Anna at All Costs

Vincent naturally caught the implications in Cynthia's words.

His eyes turned slightly cold as he looked displeasedly at Harold.

Vincent said, "Harold, we cannot accept the gift you brought, so please take it back. Amelia and Dylan are just ordinary friends, so please stop mentioning things like marriage."

As Harold saw Vincent's firm attitude, his eyes turned sullen slightly. However, compared to Cynthia's urgency, he remained relatively calm.

"If Amelia refuses to marry our Dylan, it's fine. However, we will fight for Anna's custody. When it comes to court, neither family's reputation will fare well," Harold said.

Vincent felt the Kingsleys were extremely unreasonable.

Amelia's expression was also very serious.

"Does Dylan know that you've come to the Davis Manor?" As she spoke, she took out her phone to call Dylan.

Cynthia quickly grabbed Amelia's hand. "Amelia, don't do this, Dylan doesn't know. Harold may have spoken harshly, but we mean well. Besides Dylan, you don't have a better choice."

Outside, Frederick paused his steps as he was about to enter the house.

He also wanted to know the answer.

However, Amelia did not directly respond to Cynthia's words. Instead, she looked at Cynthia and said calmly,

"Cynthia, the truth is that you believe Dylan has no better option than me. Thus, you are so eager."

Cynthia's face twitched slightly.

They thought Amelia was unaware of Dylan's sexual orientation, but to their surprise, Amelia seemed to know everything.

The expression on Harold's face changed from calm to angry.

Vincent sternly asked them to leave.

Harold also stood up with a cold expression.

Seeing that the conversation was ending on a sour note, Cynthia's face showed a hint of embarrassment.

Cynthia said, "Amelia."

Amelia smiled lightly and calmly said, "Cynthia, don't forget to take the gift with you."

Amelia picked up the gift box from the table and handed it to Cynthia.

Cynthia sighed and immediately said,

"Amelia, this is a gift I bought for you, I..."

Before Cynthia could finish her sentence, Harold snatched the gift box and left with it.

Seeing this, Cynthia could only follow suit.

As they reached the door, they bumped into Frederick.

Harold's expression changed slightly when he saw Frederick.

"Frederick, what are you doing here?" Harold asked.

Frederick's deep blue eyes glanced at Harold. Although his face showed little emotion, Harold felt a hint of disdain in Frederick's gaze.

"Harold, why do you look so pale?" Frederick asked.

Harold's expression stiffened as he noticed Frederick holding a small toy gift box, obviously intended for Anna.

His face turned white for a moment, and he awkwardly said,

"We came to the Davis Manor to discuss Anna's custody."

Cynthia was wary when she saw Frederick here.

If Frederick intended to remarry Amelia, it would be even more difficult for the Kingsley family to snatch Anna's custody back.

Cynthia said, "That's true. Anna is Amelia and Dylan's child. As the grandparents, we naturally cannot break the rules and must come to discuss."

Frederick's eyes turned sullen slightly.

Frederick asked, "Why are you here to discuss this? Where is Dylan? If the parents are alive, grandparents cannot fight for custody of the child."

Cynthia was left speechless by Frederick's words.

Harold's expression was not pleasant, and he couldn't afford to offend Frederick.

Upon hearing Frederick's voice, Amelia walked to the door. "Aren't you going to the office?"

Frederick shook his head and lifted the small gift box in his hand. "I forgot to give this little gift to Anna."

Amelia reached out to take it.

But Frederick withdrew his hand. "I think if I give it to her by myself, she will be happier that way."

Upon hearing this, Amelia raised an eyebrow lightly, withdrew her hand, stepped aside, and let Frederick enter the house.

Frederick glanced lightly at Cynthia and Harold before stepping into the house.

Seeing this, Cynthia couldn't help but grit her teeth and fiercely hit Harold, saying discontentedly,

"It's all your fault!"

Amelia, who had been carefully raised in the Davis Manor since childhood, could not possibly fear their threats.

Harold was currently annoyed and gave Cynthia a glare before leaving the Davis Manor.

In the afternoon, Rachel called Amelia.

Rachel said, "Just now, a lawyer friend called me and said the Kingsleys are preparing documents to sue you. What's going on?"

Amelia rubbed her forehead, looking helpless.

She never expected Harold and Cynthia to take such actions.

Amelia said, "They think Anna is Dylan's child, and knowing Dylan's sexual orientation, they are worried that Dylan won't have children in the future. So they are staring at me, wanting me to marry Dylan. If I don't, they will take Anna's custody."

Rachel coldly chuckled at this. "I didn't expect Dylan's parents to be so rude."

Amelia sighed softly and said helplessly, "I'll talk to Dylan."

Rachel responded with a "good" and then said, "Although Dylan owes you a debt of gratitude, his parents' actions reflect poorly on your reputation. If you can't handle it, leave it to me."

Amelia replied softly, "It's just a misunderstanding, not difficult to handle."

After Rachel hung up the call, she wasn't entirely reassured, so she discussed the matter with Sebastian.

Upon hearing that Dylan's parents wanted to take Anna away, Sebastian was furious.

Sebastian said, "They don't deserve to take custody of Anna. I need to talk to Frederick."

Rachel nodded lightly.

Soon, Frederick received a text message from Sebastian on his phone.

Seeing Sebastian's messages popping up continuously, Frederick felt a headache.

Frederick: [I will handle it.]

He replied briefly to Sebastian with these four words.

Only then did Sebastian stop messaging him.

In recent years, Harold had focused all his efforts on the food business. Frederick could easily suppress him without much effort.

After negative news about the food company under the Kingsley family was released, many videos online surfaced alleging food safety issues with their products.

To avoid being affected, many stores began removing the food brands of the Kingsley family from their shelves.

The online buzz grew rapidly, prompting the Food Safety Center to investigate the food brands under the Kingsley family.

Harold was extremely busy during this time.

Dylan had been trying to persuade Cynthia to give up on trying to take Anna's custody.

After some investigation and understanding, Cynthia realized that even if they fought for Anna's custody, they had no chance of winning.

If they offended Amelia for this, they might not even get to see Anna in the future.

Madison, upon hearing that Dylan had withdrawn the lawsuit, cried and lamented for a while, saying she would do anything to get the child back.
