Chapter 70 Amber had never been so humiliated before.
In the afternoon, the three of them rode in a car and headed to Sankara Group Company.
Amelia and Rachel sat in the back seat, chatting about sisterly matters.
Amber sat in the passenger seat quietly, listening.
When they arrived at Sankara Group, the driver parked the car at the entrance of the office building.
After Amber got out of the car, she didn't open the back door for Rachel and Amelia. Instead, she stood quietly to the side, clearly unwilling to lower her status too much in front of the Davis sisters.
The driver got out of the car and opened the back door. He glanced at Amber with dissatisfaction. "Amber, don't you know your basic responsibilities as a subordinate?"
Amber frowned and was about to speak, but then she saw a car from Hastings Group approaching.
She lightly bit her lip and lowered her head in apology. "I'll pay attention next time."
Rachel coldly glanced at her empty hand, a hint of contempt in her eyes.
"You need to pay attention to more than just this issue."
After saying that, she turned around and held Amelia’ss hand.
Amelia bent down and walked out of the car.
Frederick happened to step out of the car from the Davis Group.
As soon as he got out of the car, his eyes immediately fell on Amelia standing next to Rachel.
Amelia glanced at him briefly and then averted her gaze.
Amber noticed these subtle movements of Amelia and felt that she didn't dare to greet Frederick because Rachel was there.
She suppressed her mocking thoughts and stood quietly by Rachel's side.
Rachel glanced at Amber beside her and smirked before greeting Frederick in a friendly manner, "Mr. Hastings, good morning."
"Good morning," Frederick responded with a cold and indifferent expression.
Felix stood by Frederick's side, taking note of Amber and Amelia next to Rachel, and couldn't help but take a deep breath.
Mr. Hastings' ex-girlfriend and ex-wife were both brought together by Ms. Rachel.
And it seemed like they were getting along fairly well?
He cautiously glanced at Frederick and, indeed, saw a gloomy expression on his face as he marched toward the elevator.
Felix swallowed hard and followed suit.
Rachel laughed and held Amelia’s hand as they followed behind.
All five of them crowded into the elevator, which suddenly felt narrow.
Rachel pulled Amelia to stand beside Frederick, but Amelia willingly moved to the side, allowing Amber, who entered later, to stand in the middle.
Amelia stood with Felix in the back row.
Frederick's expression became increasingly grim, and Felix was too on edge to even breathe.
They both felt as if they had suddenly developed claustrophobia.
"Are you planning to step back and let Amelia take the stage?" Frederick spoke with a cold face, breaking the silence.
Rachel raised an eyebrow and smiled, saying, "She's just bored at home, so I brought her here to have a look."
"Oh? Do you want to personally introduce Amelia to the business world?" Frederick replied expressionlessly, "It's not impossible."
Rachel chuckled and lightly pushed Amber. "Well, then I'll thank you on behalf of Amelia, but she's more interested in medicine and not so much in business."
"My subordinate happens to be interested in business. I wonder if you are interested in mentoring her?" Frederick's gaze immediately turned cold as he warned Rachel.
"Not interested," he replied.
Upon hearing this, Amber's face stiffened, and she bit her lips tightly, lowering her head without saying a word.
Amelia stood in the background, appearing indifferent throughout their conversation as if it had nothing to do with her.
They arrived at the Sankara Group conference room.
Frederick was the first to step out of the elevator.
Rachel watched him briskly walk toward the conference room and smiled.
"It seems like he doesn't like you that much if he's unwilling to mentor you," she said to Amber.
Amber tightly bit her lips and did not respond to Rachel's comment.
Inside the conference room, the shareholders and executives were already waiting.
After settling Amelia, Rachel led Amber to the conference room.
Once seated, Rachel reached out her hand to Amber, asking for the documents.
Amber's expression froze as she looked at Rachel's outstretched hand, not understanding why.
"Ms. Rachel..."
Rachel said in a calm voice, interrupting her, "Where are the meeting documents?"
Her voice was not loud, but the other shareholders in the conference room turned their attention toward them.
Amber hesitated for a moment and, seeing Frederick's gaze directed toward them, quickly replied, "You didn't tell me to bring the meeting documents."
Rachel frowned slightly, her gaze turning cold. "Did I also not tell you that the meeting was taking place at Sankara Group?"
Amber's face turned pale.
At this moment, Frederick also withdrew his gaze.
Amber gritted her teeth and said in a low voice, "Ms. Rachel, I will go back and get them right now."
Rachel glanced at her coldly. "No need."
Amber sat with a stiff face beside Rachel, feeling a deep sense of embarrassment as she saw other assistants and secretaries of the shareholders placing documents in front of their superiors.
She cautiously looked in Frederick's direction.
Apart from that one glance earlier, he did not look toward their direction again.
When it was Rachel's turn to share her opinion, she confidently stepped onto the stage and elaborated on her plans and strategies for the future of Sankara Group.
She spoke fluently and without any hesitation, even without any supporting documents.
Amber stared at her intensively, fiercely biting her lips.
Rachel was doing this intentionally.
She had clearly recorded all the content of the speech, and even some details were very accurate, but she still had to ask her for information, obviously intentionally embarrassing her in front of so many people.
She deliberately punished her, making her lose face in front of Frederick.
After the meeting ended.
The other shareholders got up and left.
Rachel and Frederick had a few words and then got up.
Amber took a deep breath, unable to contain her dissatisfaction, and spoke as Frederick walked out of the meeting room.
"Ms. Rachel, why did you deliberately make things difficult for me just now?"
Rachel raised an eyebrow, amused by her words.
"Amber, preparing meeting materials is your job. If I can't remember today's meeting content, wouldn't it be embarrassing for me because of you?"
"I thought Mr. Hastings was so powerful in the business world, and you, his ex-girlfriend, wouldn't be so incompetent, so I kept you around, giving you opportunities. I didn't expect that you would be so useless, which really disappoints me."
"Or is it that you feel that I, your boss, don't deserve your service? How about it, Mr. Hastings, you take her away?"
Frederick stopped walking, his eyes cold.
"People that Davis Group doesn't want, how can Hastings Group keep them?"
"Hastings Group doesn't keep idle people."
Rachel smiled lightly and glanced at Amber.
Amber gritted her lips tightly. She had never experienced such humiliation before and ran out of the meeting room in a frenzy.
Amelia heard that the meeting had ended and walked over from the lounge, coincidentally colliding with Amber running out in the hallway.
Amber fell to the ground in panic, and Amelia couldn't avoid it. She twisted her ankle, her body leaning to one side. Suddenly, a wide and strong palm embraced her waist and pulled her into his arms.
A cool scent of mint rushed into her nostrils, and she stayed in the man's arms in a panic, her delicate face pale.
