Chapter 281 Hated Him for Years
Over the past three years, Amber had seen Frederick's cold demeanor plenty of times, but never like this—disappointment, disgust, regret, and revulsion all at once.
When she saw those emotions in his deep blue eyes, her grip on his shirt loosened.
She bit her lip hard, unsure of what to do.
"Frederick, do you regret dating me?" Her voice trembled as she asked.
Frederick's sharp, cold eyes bore into her. After a long silence, he finally answered in a chilly tone, "Yes."
His words cut like a knife, making Amber gasp for breath.
Frederick looked at her pained expression without a trace of pity, his face still indifferent.
He asked flatly, "What do you want to talk about now? How you know I mistook you for Amelia or how you went to Brittany and asked for a million dollars?"
Amber bit her lip tightly, not daring to look up at him.
Frederick, with a stern face, shook off her hand. His tone was icy. "There's nothing between us worth discussing."
Amber panicked, her hands clenched tightly. She bit her lip hard and quickly said, "Frederick, no matter what, we did date, didn't we? You were the one who asked me to be your girlfriend."
As she spoke, she suddenly reached out and hugged Frederick from behind as he was about to leave.
Felix, standing nearby, wanted to pull Amber away, but suddenly, a flash of light caught his eye.
Someone was taking photos!
Felix's face darkened, and he quickly ran toward the direction of the flash.
The security personnel followed suit.
Frederick frowned and pushed Amber away forcefully.
Amber stumbled several steps and eventually fell to the ground.
She turned pale as she looked at Frederick's disgusted eyes staring at her. Panicking, she quickly explained, "Frederick, it wasn't me. I didn't arrange for anyone to take photos."
Frederick stood there, looking down at her. He snapped, "Amber, I really have to thank you for your stupidity and for that million dollars! It made me see your true nature."
Amber's face stiffened as she watched Frederick walk away.
Soon, Frederick drove past her.
This time, she didn't dare to chase after him.
She knew that even if she did, she wouldn't get anything good out of it.
Amber bit her lip hard, her expression full of regret. She sat on the ground, holding her head and crying uncontrollably.
Scott, sitting in his car, watched the dramatic scene unfold. He lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and then stepped out of the vehicle.
Amber felt someone approaching and looked up.
Through her tear-filled eyes, she saw Scott standing in front of her.
Scott looked at her tear-streaked face and chuckled, "Do you know where you went wrong?"
Amber remained silent.
Scott snorted lightly, "You were too greedy, wanting to hold onto everything. You wanted his heart and also wanted everyone to respect you. But look at you now. Do you have any dignity left?"
"If you hadn't gone abroad that year, even if Frederick found out he mistook you for someone else, he would have stayed with you. But you chose the most foolish path and ended up with nothing." he mocked further.
Amber's face went rigid as realization hit her.
Yeah, Frederick was someone who valued old relationships.
Even if he found out he mistook her for someone else, so what?
They were still dating back then.
Scott glanced at her indifferently, flicked his cigarette butt away, and walked off.
Amber grabbed his ankle. She anxiously asked, "Scott, tell me, what should I do now? Do I still have a chance?"
Scott kicked her hand away and coldly replied, "Marry a rich playboy. That's your only option."
Amber's expression changed slightly. Scott's meaning was clear—she had no chance.
She bit her lip hard and remained silent for a long time. As Scott entered the elevator, she looked at him seriously and said, "Don't you like Amelia? I'll help you get her into your bed, okay?"
Even if she had no chance with Frederick, she couldn't let Amelia be with him!
The elevator doors closed, and Scott didn't answer her.
After Frederick left, Amelia went to the treatment group.
Jessica saw her and looked at her with contempt and mockery, "I should have known that Dr. Davis at General Hospital had so much power because she clung to Mr. Hastings. No wonder a mere attending physician could do so well."
Amelia glanced at Jessica calmly and replied in a cool tone, "Even without clinging to Mr. Hastings, the Davis family could still make sure I do well in any field."
Jessica was rendered speechless by Amelia's words.
The treatment group discussion began, and Jessica didn't say another word throughout the meeting.
After the meeting, Amelia returned to her office.
As she reached the door, she saw Scott sitting inside, looking at the reports on her desk.
Amelia frowned when she saw him, walked over, and snatched the report from his hand, placing it aside.
Scott, seeing her cold attitude, raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Dr. Davis, we don't have any grudges between us, do we? You don't have to treat me like this, do you?"
Amelia put down the report and sat in her office chair, replying coldly, "Although we have no grudges, our relationship isn't close enough for you to touch my things as you like."
Scott looked at her cold expression and smiled. "I still prefer the cute look you had when you were back in high school."
Amelia's face darkened. She snapped, "You're crazy. If you don't leave, I'll call security!"
Scott chuckled softly, "I really am feeling unwell lately, or I wouldn't have come to see you. Dr. Davis, can you check on me? I've been having headaches, nausea, and sometimes I feel like vomiting."
Amelia glanced at him and replied dismissively, "Maybe you're pregnant. Go to the OB-GYN."
Her response amused Scott, "I really am feeling unwell lately."
Amelia coldly responded, "Come back after making an appointment."
Scott stared at her delicate face for a while and then said slowly, "Amelia, it wasn't me who ordered someone to attack your senior. If I wanted to get back at him, I wouldn't have done it in front of you. The person who used my name did it because I'm well-known in society and wanted to intimidate him."
Swallowing, he asked, "Years have passed, the case is closed, and the culprit confessed that it had nothing to do with me. You don't have to hate me for so many years because of this, do you?"
