Chapter 384 Dad, Do You Know Her?
Frederick couldn't hear what Anna was whispering to Amelia from his position, but he noticed the fleeting glances Anna shot his way, her expression tinged with unease.
Frederick's brow furrowed in concern. He then heard Amelia explaining to Anna, followed by Amelia saying that even if she didn't want him, she would still want Anna.
Despite the ache in his heart, witnessing Anna's tear-filled eyes, he swiftly approached her.
"What's wrong, Anna?" Frederick asked softly. He sat down beside Anna and pulled her from Amelia's arms.
However, Anna only wanted to stay in Amelia's embrace at that moment. Frederick felt a mix of emotions. He looked at Anna with a somewhat sad expression and asked softly. "Anna, do you not like me?"
Anna shook her head and quietly nestled in Amelia's arms. Frederick couldn't help but frown, looking at Anna in Amelia's arms with a hint of worry.
Amelia gently stroked Anna's back and soothed her softly. "Frederick is your dad, and he would never abandon you. Frederick loves you very much, too. If you don't believe me, ask him."
Hearing Amelia's words, Frederick quickly reassured her. "Yes, I love you just as much as your mom does. I was even afraid that you didn't like me."
Frederick held Anna's small hand and gently squeezed it, his tone extremely gentle. "Anna, do you like me?" he asked expectantly.
Anna didn't push Frederick's hand away, yet she remained silent, offering no response to his question. Frederick's worry intensified. "It seems you don't like me anymore. That makes me really sad," he murmured, trying to pull his hand back. But to his relief, Anna grabbed his thumb, refusing to let go.
"It's not that," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Amelia slightly curled her lips and gently rubbed Anna's head. Frederick's worried heart finally settled down.
Amelia glanced at him and said softly. "You should go back first. You have a social event later, and there's also a dinner. Anna is just having a little tantrum."
Frederick's heart softened when he saw Anna clutch his hand. "How can I leave when you ask me to go at a time like this?" he sighed, resolutely staying seated on the couch, his eyes fixed on Anna in Amelia's arms.
Anna was particularly quiet in Amelia's embrace.
Amelia pursed her lips. Seeing Frederick wanting to be close to Anna but also considering her emotions, she said softly. "Can Dad hold you? I have a bit of a stomachache and need to use the restroom."
Anna nodded, "Okay."
Hearing her response, Frederick immediately reached out and pulled her to his side.
Amelia then got up and walked toward the restroom.
As she entered the restroom, she couldn't help but glance at Frederick and Anna sitting on the couch, feeling much more relaxed.
Anna had always lived with her, and she had indeed neglected Anna a bit recently.
Anna was sensitive, and perhaps she had heard some things and related them to herself.
Amelia took a deep breath; this was her biggest concern. Before Frederick and Anna had reunited, there hadn't been such issues.
She wondered if it was because the number of staff at the Davis Manor had increased recently.
Amelia's eyes turned serious, thinking she needed to find time to communicate with the household staff.
After all, Anna was sensitive, and even a casual remark from them could lead to her overthinking.
After using the restroom, Amelia walked out to find that Anna and Frederick had made up.
Anna was sitting next to Frederick, playing with stickers. Occasionally, she would take a sticker and place it on Frederick's arm.
Amelia, remembering that Frederick had a dinner to attend later, was about to stop Anna, but Frederick looked up at her and gently shook his head.
"It's okay. Let her play," he whispered gently.
Before Amelia could say anything, Frederick seemed to know what she was going to say.
Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly. Seeing Frederick doting on Anna, she remained silent. If Frederick wanted to spoil Anna, so be it.
Amelia uttered, "I'm going to the backyard to see what Dad is up to."
Earlier, when they returned home, Vincent had handed Anna to Amelia and went to the backyard.
Amelia walked to the backyard and found Vincent tending to his vegetable garden.
He hadn't had time to take care of it recently, and the weeds had grown wildly, even taller than his vegetables.
Amelia stepped forward to help. Vincent quickly stopped her.
He frowned and spoke up, "Your hands are meant for holding surgical instruments, not for these chores. These weeds are tough; you might hurt your hands. Step aside."
Despite Vincent's words, Amelia still bent down to help him weed.
Seeing her insistence, Vincent smiled helplessly. "You never listen."
Amelia smiled. "I inherited my stubbornness from you."
Vincent smiled faintly and changed the subject. "Did you gain anything from today's exchange meeting? Isn't the business world much simpler than your medical field?"
Amelia responded softly, "I still find medicine much simpler. These social interactions and conversation skills are really difficult for me."
Amelia sighed. "Even when I know someone has an issue with me, I still have to respond politely with a smile. I have to be careful with my words to avoid offending anyone. This is something Rachel understands much better."
In the business world, there were no permanent enemies, only interests.
Hearing Amelia's words, Vincent smiled and replied. "With Rachel backing you and Frederick by your side, who would dare have an issue with you?"
Rachel was known for being protective. And now Frederick cherished Amelia dearly.
With both of them standing firmly by Amelia's side, anyone who still harbored grievances against her must possess an exceptional capacity for enduring pressure.
Amelia pressed her lips together and murmured. "Ms. Murphy seems to know me."
Vincent paused his wedding, his brows furrowing tightly. He kept his head down so Amelia didn't see the change in his expression, only his paused hand.
Amelia frowned slightly and asked softly. "Dad, do you know her?"
