Chapter 66 Was the pregnancy discovered?
"Frederick..." She softly spoke, wanting to follow Frederick out of the ward. After taking two steps, before she could finish her sentence, Mrs. Lakoff spoke with a stern voice.
"Amber, did you come to see me or to see Frederick?" Amber's expression froze, and she immediately stopped in her tracks.
"Mrs. Lakoff, of course, I came to the hospital to see you." She stared directly at Mrs. Lakoff, who had a look that seemed to see through her thoughts. Amber bit her lip lightly, feeling a bit guilty.
Mrs. Lakoff glanced at her and said in a soft voice, "There's no need. It's quite clear that Frederick's thoughts are no longer on you." Amber took a deep breath, restraining her emotions.
"Mrs. Lakoff, do you also believe that I am not deserving of Frederick?" "I know that my family background and status are not good, that I can't compare to the Davis family, and I am not as capable as Amelia." "But just because my family background is not good, does that mean I don't even have the qualification to be with the person I love?"
Mrs. Lakoff listened to Amber's words and shook her head. "If you had said these words to me three years ago, I would have sympathized with you." "But now, when you say these words to me, I feel nothing." "You have chosen five million over Frederick, haven't you?"
Amber paused, her expression pale. The fact that she took Brittany's money was undeniable, and it had become a fatal point that she couldn't defend herself against.
"I..." She opened her mouth, unable to find the right words to say.
Mrs. Lakoff sighed and said leisurely, "Do you love Frederick as a person, or do you love the material possessions that come with Frederick? Only you know."
Amber clenched her lips tightly. "Of course, I like Frederick as a person." Mrs. Lakoff fell silent and didn't continue arguing with Amber.
Amber felt like she had a lump in her throat, causing her discomfort. After a while, Mrs. Lakoff gave her the order to leave. "You can go back now. I am a bit tired and want to rest."
Since Frederick wasn't here, Amber didn't want to stay here either. After hearing Mrs. Lakoff's words, she turned and left.
Mrs. Lakoff watched her leaving figure and shook her head.
Amelia was standing in the elevator waving goodbye to Nicole with a smile on her face. "Come visit me at Fondaniss when you're on vacation."
Nicole readily agreed. "Sure."
As soon as she finished speaking, she felt the temperature around her seemed to drop.
Amelia entered the elevator and immediately noticed Frederick walking in with a stern face. He stood in front of her, his handsome face filled with coldness.
Nicole walked away immediately. The elevator doors closed. Amelia slightly pursed her red lips as she looked at the man in front of her, feeling a pang of bitterness in her heart.
Her years of secret admiration and youth had come to an end just like that. It was difficult for her to accept. She restrained her emotions and lowered her head. The elevator doors opened, and Frederick stepped out. She also lowered her head and followed.
She was lost in thought and didn't notice that the man in front suddenly stopped. Her head bumped into his stiff back, causing her to raise her head in surprise and apologize. "I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention."
Frederick sighed, turned around, and looked down at her. She was still holding a gift box, probably leftovers from a wedding.
Amber's words flashed through his mind, and his gaze turned cold. "So, you and Daniel are getting married. That's why you're giving gifts everywhere?"
"Huh?" Amelia was confused by his sudden question.
Frederick's gaze darkened, feeling frustrated. He snatched the small gift box from Amelia’ss hand and spoke in a cold tone. "Consider this my divorce gift."
Amelia was stunned.
After taking the gift box, he turned and left without saying another word.
Once Frederick got into the car, he threw the gift box onto the passenger seat. His gaze turned cold, and he reached over to grab the divorce certificate, casually tossing it onto the backseat.
Amelia looked away and walked toward the other side of the garage, going in the opposite direction.
The Davis family. As soon as Amelia walked in, she heard Brittany and Vincent talking.
She walked inside, and Brittany waved her hand and asked, "Amelia, was everything successful?"
Amelia nodded. "Yes, it was successful. I've obtained the divorce certificate."
Brittany smiled and nodded. "Did that guy go to the court personally?" Amelia nodded again. "Yes."
For some reason, she always felt a hint of schadenfreude from Brittany.
"Amelia, come and sit down quickly. In the early stages of pregnancy, you shouldn't stand for too long, or your back will start to hurt in the later stages," Brittany reached out and pulled Amelia’ss hand, urging her to sit down.
Amelia’s expression changed suddenly, and she had a look of fear on her face.
She quickly looked at Vincent.
Vincent's expression also showed some surprise.
Seeing Amelia’ss shocked look, Brittany smoothed her hair and said, "Don't be afraid. Be careful of fetal movements."
"Divorce was his choice, but this child still has to call me Great-Grandma."
"When are you going to Fondaniss?"
Amelia calmed herself down and looked at Brittany, who didn't seem to blame her at all, feeling guilty in her heart.
"Maybe in the next week or so."
"Grandma, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hide it from you. I was just worried..."
Amber's health is not good, and Frederick cares about her so much that he definitely wouldn't let her conceive.
If Frederick knew she was pregnant and wanted to keep the baby, he would definitely fight for custody.
Brittany had a charitable expression.
"I already know. Grandma doesn't blame you."
"I has known you for so many years, don't I understand your character?"
She not only understands Amelia, but she also understands Frederick.
She could see his visible annoyance during this period of time, so how could she not understand her grandson's thoughts.
"I’m old. Otherwise, she would accompany you to live in Fondaniss."
"My current physical condition is not good either. I can only ask you how long the expected due date of the child is. When the child is about to be born, I will come to Fondaniss to see you."
Amelia’s nose tingled slightly with sourness.
Brittany was too good to her.
And she had wanted to hide it with all her might before, but now a huge sense of guilt lingered in her heart.
"The current gestation period is five weeks, and the expected due date is around January 20th, 2024."
Brittany nodded seriously, "That's good."
During their conversation, Brittany lightly touched Amelia’s still-flat belly and said, "You're blessed with a baby."
Amelia smiled slightly.
Her child would surely be a blessed baby, as there were already so many people who loved them even before they were born. Even if the father didn't love them, it didn't seem to matter much.
