Chapter 319 Her Child Was Gone, She Wanted Them All to Pay

Nicole bent down to grab the flowers from Jesse while helping him up.

Jesse looked at her, eyes sincere. "Nicole, I can handle all your quirks and moods. Will you marry me?"

Nicole paused, surprised by his words. She bit her lip, feeling conflicted.

Ruth walked over, took Nicole's hand, and said softly, "Nicole, Jesse's been so devoted to you. We all know he's never treated anyone else like this. You're the first."

Todd overheard and laughed. He got up, walked over, and put his arm around Nicole's shoulder.

He joked, "Nicole, trust your gut. If you get married now, I'll be the only single one left. Family gatherings will be all about pressuring me to get hitched. You and Jesse should wait a year so I can find a girlfriend first."

Nicole playfully punched Todd in the chest, laughing. "Using me as an excuse, huh?"

Todd winked and announced the start of the birthday party.

Music started, and the yacht headed toward the Sapphire Sea.

Dancing, Todd helped Jesse up. Jesse exchanged a glance with Ruth, who looked a bit annoyed.

Todd was great at lifting the mood, and soon everyone forgot the earlier tension.

Daniel, in a bad mood, sat drinking alone. Ruth sat with him for a bit, then joined Amelia and Nicole.

Nicole sensed some tension between Amelia and Ruth, likely because of Daniel.

Daniel was Amelia's childhood friend and had a crush on her. Ruth was wary of Amelia, but Amelia didn't like Daniel at all.

Nicole, a bit tipsy, took Ruth's hand and smiled. "Ruth, don't worry. Amelia isn't your rival. She only loves Frederick."

Ruth smiled awkwardly, clenching her hand. "You're right. Ms. Davis and I probably have some misunderstandings."

Nicole turned to Amelia, picked up a fruit wine, and handed it to her. "Amelia, it's my birthday, and Ruth is my friend. Can we let go of any misunderstandings today for my sake?"

Ruth smiled, picked up a glass of water, and said softly, "I'm pregnant, so I can't drink. I'll toast with water. Ms. Davis, you don't mind, do you?"

Amelia, already having had a few glasses, took the wine from Nicole and clinked glasses with Ruth, all for Nicole's sake.

Ruth's lips curled into a slight smile as she sipped her water.

Amelia noticed Ruth's smile and felt uneasy. She wasn't a heavy drinker and usually handled fruit wine well, but today, after just a few glasses, her heart started racing.

Nicole, who had drunk a lot, felt hot. She took off her jacket and unbuttoned the top two buttons of her white shirt. Known for her good drinking capacity, Nicole's flushed face seemed unusual.

Jesse came over to talk, and Nicole leaned on him.

Amelia frowned and put down her glass. Ruth also set down her water, smiled slightly, and got up to leave.

Amelia saw Ruth heading to the deck with her phone and followed.

Ruth was making a call on the deck. Amelia overheard, "Hello, I'd like to make an anonymous report. There's illegal activity on this yacht. The number is..."

Realizing something was wrong with the drinks, Amelia rushed to grab Ruth's phone. But the spiked drinks made her weak, and she couldn't overpower Ruth.

Ruth pretended to panic, saying "help me" into the phone, trying to drag everyone down with her. This yacht belonged to Todd, a celebrity, and any scandal would hit the news, affecting everyone on board.

After hanging up, Ruth threw the phone into the sea. Seeing Amelia's desperate look, Ruth smiled maliciously and grabbed her as she tried to warn the others.

Ruth shouted bitterly, "Amelia, my child was lost after the DNA test confirmed it was Daniel's. I know you advised Mrs. Vanderbilt to spike my food. Now that my child is gone, I want you all to pay."

Ruth then pushed Amelia off the yacht into the sea.

Amelia couldn't swim. As she fell, seawater rushed into her mouth and nose. She floated briefly before sinking again.

Ruth watched, a trace of panic in her eyes. She heard a splash, indicating someone had jumped in to save Amelia.

She looked to the other side and saw two imposing figures on the opposite yacht's deck. One wore rimless glasses that gleamed coldly, and the other was Amelia's sister, Rachel.

Ruth's expression froze, overwhelmed by fear and panic. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed on the deck.

Rachel had seen her push Amelia into the water. She was screwed.
