Chapter 289 Uncle and Mommy's Wedding

Vincent already felt guilty about Frederick getting hurt because of Amelia.

Now, seeing Frederick being so polite, he looked at Amelia and softly said, "Amelia, after work these days, go to the Davis Group to pick up Frederick and bring him back. His hand is injured, and he can't drive."

Amelia softly agreed, "Okay."

Frederick glanced at Amelia, then said to Vincent, "Thank you, Mr. Davis."

Vincent waved his hand, his tone very serious, "We should be thanking you. If it weren't for you today, we probably wouldn't be able to have dinner together tonight."

Vincent sighed as he spoke, clearly troubled by the issues Amelia encountered at work.

But Vincent couldn't stop Amelia from working.

Frederick noticed Vincent's anxiety and quickly said, "I've already had General Hospital strengthen the protection of medical staff. And increased security and anti-riot personnel to prevent conflicts between doctors and patients."

Vincent felt slightly relieved upon hearing this.

They chatted about other topics for a while, after dinner, Vincent invited Frederick to sit in the living room.

Amelia leaned in toward Frederick, her voice soft. "I'll drive you back in thirty minutes. I'll give Anna some time to settle after her meal, get her bathed, and tucked into bed first."

Frederick agreed, "Okay."

As soon as he finished speaking, Susan walked in from outside and softly said to Vincent, "Mr. Davis, Mrs. Vanderbilt, and Master Vanderbilt are here."

Vincent cautiously glanced at Frederick, seeing him drinking water without any change in expression, then calmly said to Susan, "Please let them in."

Susan nodded and soon brought Daniel and Selah in.

Selah was carrying a gift box, walked into the Davis Manor's living room with a smile.

She greeted, "Vincent, long time no see."

Vincent saw Selah and stood up to greet her, "It's been a while. Please, have a seat."

Vincent asked, "When did you arrive?"

Selah replied, "Yesterday."

Selah handed the gift box to Susan, glanced at Frederick, and smiled at Susan, "Where's Anna? This is a gift I brought for Anna."

Susan took the gift box and politely responded, "Ms. Davis took Anna upstairs. I'll go call them down."

Upon hearing that Selah had arrived at the Davis Manor, Anna hurriedly held Amelia's hand and wanted to go downstairs.

Seeing Anna, Selah got up from the sofa with a smile, walked a few steps, and picked up Anna.

Anna smiled and called out crisply, "Mrs. Vanderbilt."

Selah couldn't help but smile, gently pinching Anna's cheek.

She teased, "Have you missed me since you came back?"

Anna obediently replied, "Yes."

Selah smiled with satisfaction, holding Anna and sitting down next to Daniel.

Daniel also smiled at Anna, reaching out to hold her hand. "Did you miss Uncle Daniel?"

Anna just lightly nodded her head.

Selah bombarded Anna with questions, cradling her in her arms. Standing beside Selah, Amelia beamed genuinely.

Frederick watched from the side, noticing Selah's kind demeanor with Anna and Amelia's gentle eyes. He felt a bit stifled in his chest.

Daniel completely ignored Frederick, chatting with Selah about Anna's amusing stories in Fondaniss.

Amelia smiled slightly, feeling a hard-to-ignore gaze directed at her. This gaze was full of resentment. She didn't need to look to know who it was from.

She lightly pursed her lips and changed the topic. "Mrs. Vanderbilt, didn't you say you were bringing Lucy back with you? Why didn't you bring her?"

Selah's expression became a bit subtle, and she casually found an excuse. "Lucy has been too busy lately and couldn't come back with me."

Amelia softly said, "That's a pity. I was looking forward to attending Lucy and Daniel's wedding."

Selah gave an awkward smile and glanced at Daniel with complaint in her eyes. She said, "You'll probably have to wait a long time."

Amelia noticed Selah's reluctance to talk about Lucy Hall, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes.

She knew that Selah got along well with Lucy in Fondaniss and always wanted Daniel to marry Lucy. The last time Daniel went to Fondaniss, he had also met Lucy and mentioned to Amelia that he had a good impression of Lucy.

Daniel's expression also became a bit uneasy. So Amelia didn't continue the topic.

Anna, listening to the adults' conversation, tilted her head and asked Selah, "Mrs. Vanderbilt, what's a wedding?"

Anna's timely question eased the awkward atmosphere. Selah couldn't help but smile, gently explaining, "A wedding is an event held when a boy and a girl get married."

Anna nodded understandingly, then said something surprising after a few seconds. "When Uncle and Mommy get married, will everyone come to the wedding?"

Selah mistakenly thought Anna was talking about Daniel, her smile deepening. She laughed, "Anna, do you really want Uncle and Amelia to get married?"

Anna nodded.

Daniel felt a chill when he heard Anna's words. He knew very well that the Uncle Anna was referring to was Frederick. Daniel had been deliberately ignoring Frederick, but hearing Anna say this, he couldn't help but look at Frederick.

Anna's words completely lifted Frederick's previously gloomy mood. Especially seeing Daniel's jealous look, Frederick inexplicably felt a sense of victory. Because of Anna, Frederick didn't have to do anything to win.

But Selah still hadn't realized. So Frederick waved to Anna, his tone low and hoarse with a touch of gentleness. "Anna, Amelia, and I haven't decided on a wedding date yet, so it's a secret, okay?" Frederick raised his index finger to his lips, making a shushing gesture.

Comprehending, Anna mimicked the gesture, quieting down.

The realization dawned on Selah as she connected the dots to Frederick being Anna's "Uncle." Her smile vanished in an instant.
