Chapter 225 Getting Scolded Together for Trying to Attract Frederick's Attention
Angela noticed the hesitation in Amber's eyes, so she took the initiative to hold Amber's hand and persuaded, "You can't leave until my wedding is over. You're the bridesmaid."
Their mutual friends also chimed in, encouraging Amber to stay, and eventually, she relented.
At this moment, she couldn't afford to leave this social circle.
Seeing that Amber stayed, Angela smiled. Soon, everyone started organizing games.
The groom and the bride split into two teams.
At first, the bride's team won more often, but as the penalties became stricter, the groom's team started taking the game more seriously.
If the bride's team lost, they had to jump into the pool and perform a hot dance.
Amber was wearing a light-colored bridesmaid dress.
If it got wet, it would become very transparent.
Almost everyone on the bride's team had already done the punishment, except for Amber.
Angela made a mistake at a decisive moment, causing their team to lose the game.
The groom's team started chanting for Amber to do the punishment.
Amber definitely refused.
She had avoided this penalty since the game began and softly declined, "I'd rather not. Today isn't suitable for me to participate in such an activity."
Amber's refusal only seemed to fuel the groomsmen's excitement. "Whatever punishments were on our side, we've all done them. James is allergic to mango, and you made him eat one. Are you going to back out now?"
Angela had kept Amber around just to see her embarrassed, so she wasn't about to let her off easily.
"Amber, it's just a dance in the water. It's no big deal. Just do it. We can't let them think we're sore losers," Angela said.
Amber hesitated.
Two of the groomsmen picked Amber up, making a commotion about throwing her into the pool.
Angela didn't stop them, and the others followed her lead. She could have won earlier, but she deliberately lost to target Amber.
Amber was terrified as the two men suddenly picked her up.
When she saw Frederick being led towards the Rodriguez family's gate, she called out his name in panic. "Frederick, help me."
The banquet inside had ended, and many guests were coming out.
Rachel and Amelia were talking to Patricia.
Frederick was being escorted by Virgil and several businessmen from Tideport City towards the gate.
Everyone wanted a few more words with Frederick on the way out.
Amber's voice suddenly cut through the air.
Her voice was tense and aggrieved, sounding pitiful.
Patricia grasped Amelia's hand, engaging her in conversation. When Amelia heard Amber's voice, she turned to look and saw Amber being carried towards the pool by two men. Instinctively, she glanced toward Frederick.
Frederick continued walking without stopping. He spoke to Virgil before departing through the gate, "Virgil, we'll discuss the Westside development project another day in your office. Thank you for your hospitality today. I'll take my leave now."
Virgil also heard Amber's voice and looked over, feeling embarrassed by the situation.
He wanted to chat with Frederick longer, but if he let this continue, the Rodriguez family would be a laughingstock in Tideport City by tomorrow.
"Alright. Mr. Hastings, take care. I'll come find you another day, and we can discuss it in detail," Virgil replied.
Frederick nodded slightly and left.
The two men holding Amber were startled when she suddenly screamed Frederick's name, hesitating in their actions.
Fortunately, Frederick didn't look their way, and they breathed a sigh of relief.
Amber watched Frederick leave, feeling a chill in her heart.
Guests were gradually leaving the inner hall.
To leave the Rodriguez family estate, they had to pass through the outer hall.
She bit her lip, ready to be humiliated, but the next second, Virgil's angry voice rang out. "What are you doing?"
Virgil stormed over.
The two groomsmen didn't dare to continue and put Amber down, muttering, "Mr. Rodriguez, we were just playing a game. Everyone agreed to it."
Amber bit her lip, looking towards the gate.
Even though Frederick didn't stop, he still made Virgil come to her rescue.
She knew Frederick wasn't that heartless towards her.
Angela looked at Amber's pitiful state with disdain. She gritted her teeth as she thought of the trouble Amber had caused her.
She glanced at a friend beside her.
The friend immediately understood her meaning and said, "Ms. Roberts, how could you disturb the Rodriguez family's guests? You agreed to the game. Even if you want Mr. Hastings' attention, you shouldn't get everyone in trouble. You made it seem like we're bullying you. Is that fun?"
The others nodded in agreement.
Amber pressed her lips together, wanting to defend herself, but before she could speak, Virgil sternly said, "All of you, pack your things and get out of the Rodriguez family."
Their expressions stiffened, and they cast resentful glances at Amber.
Amber's mind was on Frederick. She bit her lip, didn't argue, took her phone, and left the Rodriguez family.
The others followed suit.
Patricia was frustrated that Angela had embarrassed the Rodriguez family again in such a short time.
She sighed, looked at Amelia, and said with a lamenting tone, "Ms. Amelia Davis, you were right that no profession is above another. But the circle of the social media personalities is so messy, with all those underhanded tactics. It's so embarrassing. It's not that I dislike them. They have no sense of propriety."
Patricia looked troubled.
Amelia and Rachel refrained from commenting on the affairs of the Rodriguez family and remained silent.
Patricia realized Amelia and Rachel weren't ones for gossip, so she changed the subject with a smile. "I wonder how long Ms. Amelia Davis and Ms. Rachel Davis plan to stay in Tideport City? We didn't host you well today. Please allow us another opportunity to make amends."
Patricia still wanted to matchmake Amelia and Billy.
However, Silas and Angela's behaviors were too disgraceful today, so she was embarrassed to bring it up.
For now, she could only get Amelia's contact information and proceed gradually.
