Chapter 160 Amelia Accompanied Dylan to Meet Madison
When Nicole and Amelia met, Amelia was still on a video call with Frederick.
After ending the call, Nicole leaned in and said, "The hospital has never had issues with forgetting to label medications before. And this is Mr. Hastings' medication, so the pharmacy must have been very careful."
Nicole had a bold guess in her mind.
After sending a message to Frederick, Amelia put her phone in her pocket. "Paul also mentioned the missing label, so it's likely true that it wasn't labeled, and Frederick wouldn't have the time to do such a thing."
Nicole lightly responded, then linked arms with Amelia and headed to the cafeteria.
After lunch, Amelia returned to her office and checked her phone.
She messaged Frederick but received no response.
She had some doubts, but seeing detailed medication notes only from herself in the chat made her feel a hint of disappointment. She put away her phone and went to help out in the emergency room.
The emergency room was always busy.
By the time she finished work, Amelia had forgotten about Frederick not replying to her message.
Dylan arrived at the General Hospital entrance at the appointed time to wait for Amelia.
When Amelia finished work and saw Dylan by the car, she walked over.
Dylan smiled and opened the passenger door for Amelia.
As Amelia got into the car, she noticed the gifts prepared on the back seat and raised an eyebrow.
"Are these for me?" she asked.
Dylan nodded and said, "You've already helped me so much that I couldn't let you prepare the gifts yourself. These are prepared according to Cynthia and Harold's preferences. I know them well."
Amelia smiled faintly and fastened her seatbelt.
"I also prepared a gift for Cynthia, but I don't know Harold's preferences, so I didn't prepare anything for him."
She took a jewelry box from her bag, which contained a carefully selected pair of diamond earrings that matched Cynthia's style and color.
Dylan entered the driver's seat, saw the gift Amelia prepared, and politely said, "You've spent too much money. Even if you didn't prepare anything, they wouldn't say anything."
As Dylan spoke, a hint of bitterness flashed across his face.
"I told them the truth."
Amelia looked surprised. "How did your parents react?"
Dylan had sought her out to hide the truth from Harold, but now he had revealed it, indicating that he must have been conflicted during this time.
Dylan rubbed his forehead. "They expressed their anger strongly, then pressured me into blind dates. This time, they lowered their standards. As long as it's a woman willing to marry me, they don't care about her background or family."
Starting the car, he placed his hand on the steering wheel, revealing a part of his arm.
Amelia saw the marks on his arm and understood how Cynthia and Harold expressed their emotions.
Dylan must have been hit.
However, most parents probably couldn't accept such behavior.
Amelia sighed lightly. "Do Cynthia and Harold want to see me?"
Dylan raised an eyebrow and said softly, "I told them I owe you, and if there's a woman who could marry me, she must be you."
"My grandmother, Madison, is critically ill. She has always wanted to meet my girlfriend, so this time, she calls you here."
Hearing this, Amelia rubbed her forehead and felt a headache coming on.
"Madison has never liked me," Amelia said.
Madison had never liked her since she married Frederick.
Even before reaching the Kingsley family, Amelia could already imagine the scene when Madison saw her later. The atmosphere must be tense.
"Maybe you should find a professional actor instead?" Amelia asked.
Seeing Amelia suddenly fearful, Dylan smiled. "My parents have already met Anna, and they
think she's my child, believing that's why I owe you."
Amelia looked puzzled. "When did this happen?"
Dylan replied softly, "This morning."
This morning, after Amelia left home, Vincent took Anna to the mall and saw Dylan with Cynthia and Harold choosing a gift for Madison.
Anna was very familiar with Dylan and immediately ran over to him, hugging his leg and calling him "Daddy."
Cynthia and Harold were momentarily shocked.
Dylan was also worried that revealing Anna's background would cause unnecessary trouble for Amelia, so he let them continue to misunderstand.
It just so happened that he needed this misunderstanding.
Amelia felt a headache coming on. "This misunderstanding is too big."
Dylan felt that everything was just right.
"If Frederick knows Anna is 'my child,' he won't have any doubts, and you don't have to worry about losing custody. I can have some peace for a while. If in the future you want to be with Frederick, I'll explain it to you," Dylan said.
After a pause, Amelia looked out the window, thinking that if she were with Frederick again, she would fall into a bad state, shaking her head.
"He's been entangled with Amber for so many years, and I don't want any connection with Frederick, so there's no need for an explanation."
Perhaps she had some regrets in Fondaniss, but now she was no longer fixated on the past.
Those things Amelia had lost didn't need to be forced.
Dylan's mood also became heavy upon hearing this.
He and Amelia were similar types of people.
They might say they let go, but deep down, they couldn't truly move on.
The Kingsley family.
Dylan had Tom bring the gift box from the car into the house and then led Amelia inside.
In the living room, Madison, Cynthia, and Harold were sitting on the sofa.
Cynthia saw Amelia and got up from the sofa to greet her.
"Amelia, you're here. You should have brought Anna with you."
Amelia smiled lightly and replied politely, "Dylan picked me up right after work, so I didn't have time to go home and get Anna."
Dylan interjected, "I was worried you might scare Anna, so I didn't let Amelia bring her over."
The smiles on Cynthia and Harold's faces froze for a moment as they looked at the visibly displeased Madison sitting on the sofa.
Already unwell, Madison's face didn't look good, and she exuded a fierce aura.
Cynthia and Harold didn't dare to tell Madison about Dylan's preference for men, only mentioning that Dylan and Amelia had a child together.
