Chapter 258 In The Future, He Will Fight For Anna With Her.

"I want to sit next to Uncle Frederick," Anna said as she rubbed her head against Frederick's arm, refusing to go over to Amelia.

Amelia immediately saw through what she was trying to do.

Anna was afraid of being next to Amelia, afraid that Amelia would confiscate her bottle.

By sitting next to Frederick, Anna could get away with more and even sneak some milk.

Frederick looked down at Anna leaning on his arm, a slight smile forming on his lips. He lifted his hand, and Anna fell into his embrace.

From the Davis Manor to the cemetery, it was over an hour's drive. Since it was the weekend, many families were driving out to the suburbs, causing heavy traffic and extending the travel time.

Anna, holding her bottle, leaned against Frederick's leg, drowsy.

Frederick placed the tote bag under the seat. He shifted toward Amelia, creating enough space for Anna to lie down comfortably. He even took a pillow to put under her head.

Amelia was squeezed to the innermost side by Frederick. She glanced at Anna, who had a large space to sleep, and then at herself and Frederick, who were almost sharing a seat, feeling a slight headache.

She didn't expect Frederick to be so accommodating to the child, even more so than Vincent.

This was without knowing Anna was his daughter.

If he knew, wouldn't that just spoil Anna even more?

Amelia rubbed her temples, feeling a bit resentful as she was squeezed into the corner.

Amelia teased, "Why don't you hold me? That way, there will be more space."

"Sure." Frederick agreed almost without hesitation as if he feared Amelia would retract her words if he responded any slower.

Amelia fell silent.

She glanced at Frederick and muttered, "In your dreams."

Frederick squinted slightly and said in a hoarse voice, "I'll dream right now."

Hearing this, Amelia turned to look at him. She saw Frederick leaning casually against the seat, eyes closed.

His eyelashes were thick and long, like fans.

Their shoulders were almost touching, the proximity making Amelia feel a bit hot despite the air conditioning in the car.

The spacious car now felt too small because of Frederick's closeness.

To be more comfortable, Amelia moved forward a bit.

As soon as she moved, Frederick placed his hand behind her, staring at her back.

The traffic was heavy. It would take a long time to reach the cemetery. Felix looked back at the rear seat.

Seeing Amelia sitting upright, Frederick respectfully said, "Ms. Davis, the traffic is heavy. It might take a while to reach the cemetery. Why don't you rest a bit? I'll wake you when we arrive."

Amelia looked out the window, seeing all lanes filled with cars, each moving slowly. At this rate, they might not reach the cemetery until almost noon.

Amelia rubbed her temples and nodded lightly. "Okay."

She hadn't rested well the previous night. After responding to Felix, she leaned back.

As soon as Amelia leaned back, she felt Frederick's hand on her back.

Frederick was about to speak when he saw Amelia immediately sit up, giving him a sidelong glance as if warning him not to pull any tricks.

At the sight of this, Frederick darkened his expression, and he withdrew his hand properly.

Only after he withdrew his hand did Amelia lean back against the seat, with no further interaction between them.

The car moved slowly, and Amelia began to feel sleepy.

Frederick noticed Amelia had been still for a while and looked at her.

She was resting her head against the window, dozing off. When the car hit a speed bump, her head would jolt, waking her up.

Despite this, she preferred leaning against the window rather than his comfortable shoulder.

Seeing this, Frederick felt a heavy weight in his chest.

Amelia's arm, supporting her head, grew numb. She opened her eyes slightly. Seeing they were still in the city and not yet in the suburbs, Amelia sighed lightly.

Frederick noticed and moved a bit toward Anna. He said, "You can lean on me."

The prolonged traffic, with frequent stops and starts, made Amelia feel a bit carsick.

Seeing Frederick make some space, Amelia chose to lean back against the seat and closed her eyes to rest.

The traffic finally cleared.

Felix glanced back and saw Amelia leaning completely on Frederick's shoulder while Frederick maintained his position, not daring to move.

It was as if any movement would wake Amelia, causing her to distance herself from him.

Felix rarely saw such a cautious expression on Frederick's usually stern face.

Felix smiled slightly, holding back laughter. It was no wonder his colleagues enjoyed watching couples. It was indeed entertaining.

At the cemetery, Felix carefully parked the car.

Amelia woke up the moment the car stopped, first noticing her hand casually resting on Frederick.

Her hand was close to Frederick's. For a moment, she thought they were holding hands, causing her heart to race.

Realizing they were just touching, Amelia relaxed a bit.

She couldn't be so weak.

Amelia calmly lifted her head, stretched her neck, and noticed Frederick's gaze on her. Amelia pursed her lips and casually said, "Thanks for your shoulder."

Frederick smiled. "You're welcome."

Anna had woken up before Amelia. Seeing Amelia thank Frederick, Anna also looked up and sweetly said, "Thank you, Uncle Frederick."

Frederick smiled. "You're welcome."

Hearing her sweet voice, Amelia noticed Anna's bottle was empty.

She rubbed her temples. Seeing Anna looking refreshed, Amelia felt helpless.

After drinking a whole bottle, Anna would likely find an excuse to skip lunch.

Amelia looked at Anna helplessly.

Anna grinned, showing a row of neat little teeth.

Seeing her bright smile, Amelia felt that Frederick had indulged her, letting her finish all the milk while she slept.

Felix, seeing Amelia awake, parked the car and opened the rear door for them.

As Amelia got out, she asked, "How long have we been here?"

Felix respectfully replied, "We just arrived, and you woke up."

Amelia pursed her lips and said no more.

As she got out and turned to pick up Anna, Frederick had already lifted Anna, ignoring her outstretched hand.

"Let's go." Frederick said softly, carrying Anna past Amelia.

Seeing this, Amelia withdrew her hand.

She realized that if things continued like this, he would fight for Anna with her in the future.

Can't Win Her Back
