Chapter 179 Father or Daddy?

"Amelia," Frederick murmured Amelia's name softly. "I can..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Amelia withdrew her gaze from him and lowered her head to take off the bracelet on her wrist.

Frederick furrowed his brow slightly.

After taking off the bracelet, Amelia placed it in Frederick's palm.

She kept her head down so she didn't see his nervous and bewildered expression when she took off the bracelet.

She said, "Mr. Hastings, thank you for your birthday gift. Although this bracelet is almost identical to the one I lost before, the meaning of that bracelet cannot be replaced by this one. I don't have such a strong attachment to lost things. People or objects can be lost in an instant. I won't cling to those lost people or items. So, Mr. Hastings, I’ve let go. I don't need it anymore."

Her voice was so soft that Frederick couldn't discern her emotions when she said those words.

Her words pierced Frederick's heart deeply.

Frederick stiffened slightly. He was silent.

"Amelia." Daniel's voice rang out nearby.

Amelia heard Daniel’s voice, stood up from her seat, and softly said, "Mr. Hastings, I'll take my leave."

After saying that, she walked toward Daniel.

Daniel saw Amelia approaching and couldn't help but glance at the other person on the bench.

He recognized Frederick in the moonlight and the dim yellow light in the yard.

After Amelia left, Frederick finally looked at her retreating figure.

He watched her walk toward Daniel with a gentle smile. His emotions were somewhat out of control for a moment.

He sat in the dark, his eyes filled with red bloodshot tears.

No one had ever made him feel so uncomfortable with just a few words.

He felt so uneasy that he could hardly breathe.

He loosened his tie slightly but still felt as if something was choking him.

"Do you need a tissue to wipe your tears?" Sebastian's voice appeared behind him.

Frederick's eyes darkened, and his deep blue eyes almost instantly hid the vulnerability he had just shown.

Frederick said, "I didn't cry!"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow lightly.

He had just seen Frederick in the Davis Manor living room and was about to greet him when Frederick had walked toward the backyard.

He was curious about how his childhood playmate, who had always been cold, was dealing with love, so he followed him to the backyard.

He had unexpectedly witnessed Frederick being rejected.

Sebastian said, "You're feeling very upset inside, aren't you?"

Sebastian sat on the bench, crossed his legs arrogantly, leaned back on the seat, and looked at Frederick with a mocking gaze.

Frederick said, "No."

Sebastian continued, "You must still be feeling a bit upset."

Frederick remained silent.

Sebastian sighed lightly and said, "I told you three years ago that if you divorced Amelia, you wouldn't be able to win her back, but you didn't believe me."

Amelia was a surgeon who was used to farewells. Her heart was probably colder than the scalpel in her hand.

Sebastian casually picked up the bracelet in Frederick's palm and played with it.

Frederick snatched the bracelet back abruptly.

Sebastian raised an eyebrow and said, "She doesn't want it anymore, but you still can't bear to part with this bracelet."

Frederick’s expression was cold. He stood up, said nothing, and walked toward the front yard.

Sebastian hurried to catch up and quickly said, "You shouldn’t cause trouble. I'm Amelia's brother-in-law now. If you cause trouble, I'll definitely take Amelia's side."

Frederick glanced at him indifferently, as if he was looking at a fool.

Sebastian smiled unconcernedly and followed him.

They arrived in the front yard.

A small figure rushed toward Frederick and hugged his leg.

"Uncle Frederick, I’ve been looking for you for a long time."

Susan had been following Anna. When she saw Anna running toward Frederick after spotting him, her eyes showed both indulgence and helplessness.

"Anna didn't see you when she looked around . She thought you weren't coming today," Susan said.

Sebastian saw Anna and smiled brightly, saying, "Anna, why don't you come see me? You like me too. Come here for a hug."

Frederick was currently feeling annoyed and definitely wouldn't hug the child Amelia had with another man.

Sebastian was trying to lighten the mood.

In the past, even though Anna was very superficial, she would let him hug her when he asked. However, this time, Anna kept her head up, looking at Frederick, and even waved away the hand Sebastian extended.

"Uncle Frederick," Anna spoke again.

Frederick furrowed his brow, sighed, and finally bent down to pick up Anna.

Sebastian pretended to be sad. "Anna, you don't like me. I'm going to cry."

He deliberately wiped the corner of his eye.

Anna leaned her little head against Frederick's body, and her small hand pointed in the direction of Rachel.

She said, "Go cry to Aunt Rachel."

Sebastian was taken aback as he realized that Anna was asking him to go to Rachel. He felt that she was both cute and annoying.

When Anna was cute, she made people want to kiss her.

When she was annoying, she left people with no way to deal with her.

Frederick sat on the corner of the sofa with Anna.

Susan was beside them.

Anna held a bottle while she sat in Frederick's arms. Her round, beautiful eyes looked around.

After spotting Amelia, Anna pointed in her direction and said, "Uncle Frederick, it's mommy."

Frederick followed her small hand and looked over, feeling conflicted.

Amelia was with Daniel, and Dylan was opposite Daniel.

Dylan and Daniel were talking, and the atmosphere between them was very harmonious.

Frederick's eyes turned sullen, and his face became somber.

Anna turned to look at Frederick, speaking cheerfully. "Mommy is very beautiful."

Frederick softly agreed.

He glanced at Anna in his arms, his expression subtle. "Your father is over there. You should go see him."

Dylan was Anna's father, so logically, she should be closer to him.

Anna took a sip of the water from the bottle, looking a bit puzzled at Frederick's words.

She asked, "Who is father?"

She didn't have a father.

She only knew that Amelia had a father, Rachel had a father, and she didn't have a father, just like Amelia and Rachel didn't have a mother, so she didn't find it strange at all.

Frederick paused.

Anna looked toward where Amelia was, realized that Frederick might be referring to Dylan, and then said very seriously, "It's Daddy, not father."
