Chapter 167 Mr. Hastings Was Too Dreadful

Tom and Mary calmed Brittany down with a few words from Amelia so they were no longer worried.

Brittany's emotions were too volatile just now, and her hands were shaking a bit now.

Amelia saw the fatigue in her eyes.

"Grandma, why don't you rest for a bit after taking the medicine?" Amelia said with a gentle tone.

Brittany nodded, and Tom quickly brought Brittany's medicine.

After feeding Brittany the medicine, Amelia helped her to bed to rest. She sat by Brittany's bed and waited until Brittany fell asleep before getting up.

"Take good care of Mrs. Brittany. If you have any problems, just find me."

Tom nodded. He had just gone to pick up Mary, so he didn't know what had happened.

But obviously, this matter was related to Madison. It seemed that in the future when Madison visited Brittany, they need to be careful and not let her speak casually in front of Brittany.

Amelia left Brittany's ward and saw Frederick's figure in the smoking room on her way back to her office floor.

As she passed by, he had just exhaled a puff of smoke, and Amelia faintly saw the melancholy on his face.

She rarely saw Frederick so distressed. Frederick noticed Amelia's gaze, raised his head, and just as Amelia looked away, he walked past the smoking room.

Watching her back, Frederick's eyes were sullen slightly, and he stared at the door of the smoking room for a long time, lost in thought, not lifting the cigarette in his hand.

The lit end of the cigarette quickly burned a long ash.

When he came to his senses, half of the cigarette had already burned. He furrowed his brow, indifferently extinguished the cigarette, got up, and left.

When he returned to Brittany's ward, Brittany was already asleep.

Mary was sitting by, taking care of her.

Tom was organizing the daily necessities needed by Brittany.

"What did she say to Brittany?" Frederick looked at Brittany, sleeping peacefully as if she hadn't been stimulated at all just now.

"Ms. Davis just told Brittany it was a misunderstanding, and once Brittany believed her, she calmed down."

Frederick frowned, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes. In Brittany's heart, Amelia's status seemed to be higher than his.

With just a few words, she calmed Brittany's emotions. Frederick thought of the resentful look Brittany had given him earlier and couldn't help but rub his brow.

Brittany had always liked Amelia. Now, knowing that Amelia was dating Dylan, she must be unable to bear it.

Amelia and Dylan even had a child together, so it couldn't just be a misunderstanding.

Perhaps Amelia lied in front of Brittany just to calm her down.

"When the Kingsleys come over, don't let them near Brittany,"

Frederick said coldly before leaving.

Amelia returned to the ward and found that the medicine she had prescribed for Frederick had already been taken.

He was about to undergo the second course of treatment.

After preparing the medicine, she had a nurse deliver it to Frederick in Brittany's ward.

During this time, Frederick had not returned to his ward, and his condition was stable, so he didn't need to continue the IV drip.

Amelia didn't bother him either.

Following Amelia's instructions, the nurse brought the medicine up, but as soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she encountered Frederick walking toward her from the end of the corridor.

Frederick's handsome face looked particularly cold, exuding an aura that warned strangers not to approach.

The young nurse gathered her courage and approached Frederick, politely offering him the medicine in her hand.

"Mr. Hastings, this is the medicine prescribed by Ms. Davis for you. It's for the second course of treatment."

Frederick's deep and aloof gaze fell on the medication in her hand, but he didn't reach out to take it.

The nurse looked puzzled and cautiously raised her head to look at Frederic.

"Mr. Hastings,"

She spoke softly, but Frederick simply walked past her.

The nurse hesitated, standing in place, watching Frederick enter the elevator, not daring to look up at his sullen and inscrutable handsome face until the elevator doors closed.

In the end, the nurse could only return the medicine prescribed for Frederick to Amelia's hands.

She said, "Mr. Hastings is too dreadful. He didn't say a word and just left, making me unsure of what I did wrong."

Amelia looked at the medicine returned by the nurse and furrowed her brow. It seemed that there was no one left to help her deliver the medicine to Frederick.

She sighed lightly and decided to leave the medicine in the office for now, planning to give it to him personally when Frederick visited Brittany at the hospital the next day.

However, for the next three days, Amelia didn't even come across Frederick.

Every time she arrived at Brittany's ward, Frederick had just left.

It seemed like he was deliberately avoiding her, so she could only hand the medicine to Tom to pass on to Frederick.

But when Tom received the medicine, he felt that he couldn't deliver it to Frederick either and quickly handed it back to Amelia.

"Amelia, Mr. Hastings has been in a bad mood lately, and I don't want to upset him at this time. It's better if you give him the medicine. You are his attending physician. Your words carry weight."

Amelia frowned.

Tom continued, "Moreover, if I were to give it to Mr. Hastings, he might just throw it away. My words wouldn't work."

Perhaps Frederick's mood had indeed been too serious recently, as every time Tom mentioned him, he looked embarrassed.

Amelia had no choice but to take back the medicine, saying softly,

"Then I'll personally deliver it to him."

Amelia returned to Brittany's ward, chatted with her for a while, and then left work.

Instead of going straight back to the Davis Manor, she drove to the Pearl Building.

She called Frederick when she arrived downstairs, but he didn't answer.

Just as she was about to hang up, she heard Paul's voice on the other end.

"Ms. Davis."

Amelia paused, suppressing the slight unease in her heart. "I'm here to bring medicine to Frederick. I'm downstairs at the Pearl Building. Is he there?"

Paul quickly replied, "Yes, Mr. Hastings is at the Pearl Building."

Amelia immediately said, "Then come down. I'll give you the medicine."

Tom's voice sounded hesitant. "I can't come down right now. Mr. Hastings is drunk and lying on the ground."

Amelia furrowed her brow. She had just finished work, and Frederick was already drunk.

His body had only just started to recover a bit, and now he was drinking so heavily again, making all her previous efforts in vain.

She took a deep breath, a hint of anger in her tone.

"Has he been drunk since noon?"

Paul didn't directly answer Amelia's question. He just said softly, "I'm sorry, Ms. Davis. Could you please bring the medicine up?"
